I pulled a vivatar series 1 charger out of storage today. I bought it on vacation once when I forgot the charger for a rare camera. Here is more info on it:

http://kingoftweaks.blogspot.com/2012/12/a-charger-that-charges-all-batteries.html

It works with the firefly battery. Its certainly not ideal. You have to manually align the pins and I don't think its a particularly high quality charger (probably on par with the FF2 dock), but it does do the job and has a functional meter on it. I may try it out for a while and stash the dock away. Hopefully they make an external charger available sometime in the near future.

As a bonus, it will also charge NiMH batteries from the MFLB, if you roll two deep.

Any other less finicky li-ion universal chargers that people have tried?

Had another nice road trip with the FF2. Still love it, but when I got home, my new crafty was in the house, so that will probably take over for a little bit while I get a feel for it. I still love my FF2 a whole lot but there are a lot of complimentary strengths to the crafty. I wanted something with capsules that didn't require stirring (I have to admit the stirring can be a chore if you like to session and chill) and could manage sessions well. I was between the crafty and the haze. My brain was tugging me towards the haze because of its heater and air path materials and swappable batteries, but ultimately went with S&B since its what I desired more and I think the capsule situation is a little stronger and universal across all of their products. I plan to run the crafty 100% with capsules.

I'll spend some time with both and see how things settle in for my new dual-portable system. The Volcano went into storage for now.

Fair enough. I probably made up the words "high quality" because I'm a noob when it comes to concentrates. My baseline is street hash I used to smoke in Europe 15 years ago. Anyway, I bought it from a dispensary that also sells FF2s and the salesman said it would work well....so I thought they knew what they were talking about. Oh well. I'll keep my eye out for the good stuff.

thanks for the tip, but that is not why I was having trouble. I tried a light draw, I tried heavy draws, I still only got very minimal Vapor on the first couple hits and then none on every subsequent hit. I sent it back.

whoever told you that was high quality bubble hash lied. High quality bubble hash is a light tan color.

Wich cases are you using for your ff2 guys?

I'm still undecided between a small/tight one like the one they sell on their website, or something able to carry a jyarz and extra battery.

Not sure about how my unit is gonna perform when I have proper batteries, but if it's able to give me a full day of use with around 40-50 draws the small one should be perfect. I'm asking for too much or is there people having that performance on their ff2?

For weekends it would be nice to have something a bit bigger to carry the extra battery and a jyarz. Anyone using a case like this?

Pictures and/or links would be really appreciated!

In the mean time I'm still waiting an answer from firefly after testing both batteries. I expect to have an answer in the next 2 days, last time it took 4 days for them to answer. Pretty happy with the flavor/clouds of this unit and not too bothered with the stirring as I plan to use this unit when at home or friends houses.

The stock FF2 case. It holds the pick and brush (which really is essential for the gasket and a gentle clean). I like to keep my flowers separate save what I've packed in the unit before stepping out. When I considered cases, they kept getting too bulky for my liking. Still, plenty of options around the interwebs. The one @HerbieVonVapster posted above looks extremely comprehensive. Good luck!

I think you should look a Vatra cases, but don't know which one would be best for everything you want to hold. You may want to call them and ask for suggestions. They're very helpful.

Yeah somehow the case seemed large for the vapor brother pen (plus I dig the looks of there metal case better)
Needed something for the ff2 since I had it on hand and it ended up being a good fit though toss the suggestion out there.
Seems as I get older I need to carry more things. Ended up giving up mostly on pockets and carry everything in cases in my murse.

I took the bag that held the owners manual to an old Jeep and use it to keep my FF2 gear together. I am able to fit the FF2 (currently using an old dress sock to protect it in the bag), extra battery, grinder for the greens, a duff jar for the browns (I run them through my SSV), pick, cleaners (jic), brush, and eye drops. I think it works great.

Eventually I may do something different, but for now I like it.

Part of the problem is that hash contains impurities that don't vaporize. This causes gunk to get in between your heat source and the molecules you do want to vaporize. Generally, concentrates like oil or wax would be better suited for the device, but personally I find it's impossible to replace a nail with an electric box

And then same story again, answered them all my info for the warranty a week ago and sent my testing report from the weekend on Monday. Still no answer to any of my emails...

More and more disappointed with their customer service. I really love the ff2 and want to sort this problem but it's starting to really anoy me that even after knowing my case they still take so long to answer back, it's like they don't follow your case at all. Come on, a hole week to answer an email? Wich kind of customer service is that in the age we live?

Hey, new FF2 owner here. My vaping experience consists of using my Pax1. I have had it for a couple years, and haven't had any issues with it, but I am meticulous about maintenance.

Ordered the FF2 in late June, and received it last Friday. I bought a black one, and really enjoy the look and feel of it. I have played around a bit with it and I can tell I am going to enjoy this vape for a long time. My hands are typically really dry which made it difficult at first to actuate the buttons without licking my fingers. After adjusting my grip I can trigger both buttons with ease.

I can consistently get very draws from this vape, and the flavor is great. I really have no complaints, it is just a nice portable vape. I did order a case from Amazon, I'd like to keep it looking good. I haven't tried concentrates yet, maybe this weekend.

Just wanted to let everyone know these vapes are shipping, and I for one am very happy with the quality.

I have some issue with my hands and found the setting either button works best for me.

I was having the same experience: initial response from CS with questions. I answered and then heard nothing for 8 days. I called them. They are much better on the phone. I sent my dead FF1 to them on Tuesday this week, and today I got an email saying my replacement is on its way via priority mail.
WELL DONE FF ( sort of )

Any word from Firefly on when their first app update is set to roll out?

It's becoming overdue in my opinion.

If you're going to be a company that adopts mobile app development you need to ensure that updates are done in a timely manner, that's the main advantage of using software to control your products. :science:

The only problem is that I'm in UK and a call is a bit expensive. Also for me is unacceptable that in 2016 you need to call a company because they don't answer emails, it doesn't make any sense...

As I said in another post even Grasshopper labs are faster than Firefly people and I'm pretty sure that they receive a lot more emails with all the issues and delays they have.

Calling the community "crap" violates our "Be Nice" rule. Warning point issued.

I've had these big problems too when I got mine in the beginning of June. Eventually I gave up and asked for a replacement. Sent it back, they claimed it was working properly.

So I dug up another person in the area with a FF2 and tried theres. Mine was definitely not working properly. I did nothing special packing or drawing from theirs and I had vapor easily. It was like the videos I watched that everyone told me "I was doing it wrong" because I didn't get those results.

I charged it back on my CC the next day and RMAed it when they got angry about it.

Will probably never buy a vape again after this experience. They are clearly downplaying the issues with this vape.

My problems were similar. Everything appeared correct but no matter the combination of pack and draw I used I couldn't get vapor beyond the first hit. My friend was convinced that the device was heating incorrectly due to improper manufacturing as the outside of the device would get way too hot compared to his. This caused the overheat light to also come on before a bowl could be finished. It also appeared to glow less bright while heating every time.

PS: The community is kinda crap too as 9 out of 10 people accused me of using the thing wrong. Its not rocket science, these devices have inconsistent oven behavior.

Whht is a "CC"? And, more important, did you get a repaired or new ff2? Or is it still pending?
You are lucky to have a second person(or ff2) to compare.

I think it means

Credit card charge back

& when they found out. He shipped it back for good. No replacement cause he got the money back.

After deliberation with the wife we decided to get the Firefly 2. We have a Pax 2 which is nice but A) we needed another portable vape since I work out of town a lot which just leaves her with combustion at home, and B) Our P2 is about to get send in to the factory for the second time in a year. Resin keeps getting under the silicon lid and making the button stick... very difficult to turn on when cold. That makes it rough for me when I have to be quick and discrete.

The near-instant heat up of the FF2 will make my travels much easier. I bought it from a well renowned local head shop and they threw in the official case for free, which pretty much offset any overhead charge they added (they sold the FF2 for $20 more but you gotta support local business.)

I'm now almost done fully charging the second battery... but I have to wait until wifey gets home before we can test it out. I hate The Waiting Game...

SIDE NOTE:

How sturdy is the FF2 compared to P2? I usually travel with my P2, a tube of already ground up herb, and a poker... all of these are in a leak-proof travel coffee mug that goes in my suitcase to eliminate smell in the work trucks. I looks like the FF2 in its case will fit in the mug as well... might need a skinnier tube now. But it appears snug enough that it won't move. Is this an okay move or am I better off leaving the FF2 for the wife and taking the P2 that has already proven its durability?

It's fairly sturdy. I think it's more vulnerable to harm if dropped a few feet to hard surface than the P2 is....it has a separate lid that could fly off on impact. If you're gonna stick it in a container with other items it would be wise to put it in some kind of slipcase, like the little sack that comes with the FF1....but if it doesn't move around much in the mug you should be fine. Overall I'd say it's one notch below the P2 in this feature but it's still a pretty sturdy device.

If I have to be honest they're not even close. Don't get me wrong I love my FF2, but the Pax2 is a rock. I dropped mine on a glass of juice in the first 2 weeks and got scared as shit and thought that I just lost a couple hundred pounds but the damn Pax2 was perfectly working!!! I only needed to do a regular clean to take out all the juice of the vaporpath and oven and it's still working without any issues.

The pax of one of my friends is full of dents, he don't care about it and has droped tens of times. Still working perfectly and got him out of combustion.

Firefly 2 won't have survived that, but probably most vapes wouldn't so I think it's not a fair comparison :)

Still love both vapes and use much more the Firefly 2, hope at some point Firefly customer service get in contact with me (more than a week since my last email and close to 2 from my first) and do things right.:disgust:

I agree Pax2 is a rock. I love my firefly 2 but found for out and about was hard to juggle. If your able to get time for a session pax2 wins no contest. If need grab a quick here and there firefly2. Firefly 2 thou is less discrete and does looks like you hitting a pipe so stealth Pax2 wins.

Unless you need the on demand at work I would let wife use firefly 2 at home give her the best tasting one :)

@RaffOutLoud You'll only get anecdotes on durability. AFAIK there is no reputable 3rd party doing drop tests with various vaporizers. My own personal anecdote is that the FF2 will be plenty durable for any amount of travel. I've already dropped mine on a hard floor and it didn't even spill. People tend to underestimate plastic's durability.

I would personally make the decision based on how you or your wife use the device. If you generally end up hitting your piece in a hotel room or bathroom or really anywhere you find a private spot to chill, I think the FF2 will up your current game considerably. Its faster to get a few hits and it smells A LOT less. If you like to take a stroll to get away, you may have trouble with the FF2.

I can run a 6:30 mile without getting winded, but I can't hit the FF2 while walking down the block. Its just not good in this scenario. 1) you have to take in a significant pull when using it and that is tough to do while you are walking. 2) you have to stir after every 1-2 hits which pretty much makes it more trouble than its worth while in motion.

Ultimately, you'll figure out what's going to work best once you have a few days with it. One of you may gravitate more towards the FF2 than the other, and that will make the decision easier.
