Hi,

I've poked around for a while but I haven't introduced myself, cause I wasn't sure how far I was going to take this. But now it's become pretty clear to me, so I'd like to share my story.

I've smoked both cannabis and tobacco for 20+ years. Earlier this year, I got pretty sick. Nothing life threatening on the usual scale, but sick enough that I had to involuntarily quit smoking and drinking soda among other things for some time. This wasn't exactly a shock to me, my blood pressure has been terrible for years, I have cluster headaches, and in general I didn't take care of myself for a while.

However, by the time I had recovered enough to go back to smoking cigs, I realized I didn't want to as much. I still did, but I cut my tobacco use way back and made a plan to limit the number I smoke each day until I quit. Initially, I didn't plan to stop smoking cannabis, but after reading up on vapes and trying them...well, I'm here now. I also quit drinking soda entirely, used the money I saved on that bad habit to buy a water cooler and recycled some 5 gallon glass fermenting jugs I had to be water containers so now I have purified water instead of sugar crap or the poisonous tap water we have here.

According to my schedule, for the month of July I was to permit myself 2 cigs a day, then in August only 1 a day then I would be done. But earlier this month I caught myself forgetting to have one of the two I could have, and I sure didn't bother to make up for it! So last week, I lit up one more and decided it tasted like shit, and that was it. No cigarettes all week and no particular urge to even do it. Full pack that was to be my last sitting on my dresser for guests to bum from, and it doesn't tempt me at all.

I haven't smoked cannabis in nearly a month. I was also going to make that transition later, but I got some new strains in my personal collection and I couldn't bring myself to set them on fire and ruin their delicious terpenes so I ground them all up and I've been vaping and setting sail happily ever since.

I feel better than I have in years. My lungs work again, my headaches aren't as bad as they used to be, and I feel like I have a better attitude about things. Not only that, but I stay medicated and save $$$ every day on the superior efficiency and effectiveness of a vape, to say nothing of the cash saved by giving up soda and tobacco on the side.

So I guess what I'm saying is, Fuck Combustion. I'm one of you guys now. What a fool I was to smoke for so many years and let my habits rule me when I could have indulged cleanly and made it work for me.

Welcome to the Club!!!

I happy to hear that you are recovering and feeling great. It is amazing how we can get into habits that slowly break down our health. You're not aware of how bad you feel until you quit.

Combustion does suck. I hated all the coughing and restricted breathing from cigarettes and joints. With vaping, I too feel fantastic.

Now, I just wanna be high all the time. I LOVE being stoned!!! :spliff:

Just a minor update, since completely fucking combustion my blood pressure has dropped 20 points! That's pretty surprising since I was only down to 2 cigarettes a day and about 50% cannabis combustion, but apparently any is too much. Now I'm gladder than ever that I put this behind me, evidently cleaning out the pipes was just what I needed!

Similar experience here. I had to take a drug called Gengraf (cyclosporine) for about 18 months. Its primarily used to suppress the immune systems of organ transplant recipients. My use was different, however, it had a permanent side effect of raising my blood pressure to the point I had to be put on medication to lower it.

Once I started vaping I noticed that I would get dizzy when standing up quickly which I knew was orthostatic hypotension. This told me that I could titrate down the pills and ramp up the cannabis. Well no more pills and my blood pressure is really great, even if I don't vape for a while. So it seems cannabis not only regulated my BP but it took a supposedly permanent condition and reversed it.
