To say this was a surprise is quite an understatement. Illinois' MMJ law was signed by previous Governor, Democrat Pat Quinn. It was a pilot program to expire at the end of 2017 unless renewed. In his first year in office, Republican Governor Bruce Rauner made it clear he would not have signed the MMJ bill into law and as Governor, he would not add any eligible conditions and would veto any extension of the 4 year pilot program.

In a sudden about face, Rauner will now approve extending Illinois' MMJ program to 2020 and will allow additional eligible conditions to be added to the approved list. :o

Annoying Libertarian
IL is bleeding with its pension crisis. The MMJ brought in tons of revenue, so it only makes sense. IL has not ever stopped a tax flow. It has taxes on taxes, even though that violates federal statutes. Only in IL can illegal and unconstitutional law maintain.

Putin is a War Criminal
With something like 4000 approved users in a state of over 12 million, Illinois is blowing it. In a state that REALLY needs the money they need to make it easier for people to get cannabis legally. By leaving it to the black market, they is missing a huge amount of revenue. There is no tax paid on black market MJ, after all.
