Reefer Liquor

So a while ago I came across this about using N2O and a cream whipper to infuse various flavors into liquor and thought to myself "Huh... I wonder if that would work with pot..." Fast forward to 4/20 this year & popsci posted this on Facebook about exactly that. I tried it & it worked pretty well but definitely gonna refine my recipe a bit. I did it with mezcal on my first go as per the popsci article, gonna try with bourbon next.

Any of you tried this? If so how were your results? Did you decarb in the cream whipper?

Doesn't alcohol have some negative effects with cannabis? (not joking or trying to be sarcastic, just wondering)

EDIT: sorry for the thread hijack...

I know some people, especially infrequent cannabis users, can get the spins if they smoke/vape after overindulging in booze. However if you're having a glass or two of this stuff that shouldn't be an issue. There certainly are some synergistic effects that can make you more impaired than you would be with either alone so operating heavy machinery would be a no-no.

One reason I prefer this to edibles is that the onset time is much faster, allowing better dose titration. For me there's a very narrow space between not enough edible & too much, ha.

I put tincture in drinks all the time. Some white wines work great with herb. Not too much or it globs up. The more alcohol in the drink the better it distributes.

I hate the effect of alcohol. I have thought about making whipped cream with some decarbed oil though, to top off a mug of hot chocolate during winter. I wonder if the oil will drop out after chilling the cream though?

Nitrous decarbs cannabis?

@HomeFree Try adding your decarbed oil to some maple syrup, and add that before whipping your cream (remember to use chilled cream, and chill the bowl before whipping). The higher the fat content the less you'll have to worry about the oil 'dropping out'.

Yeah I suppose I could calculate how much fat cream has and know how much would be soluble. I am not sure if I will ever do it, it will only be a winter thing if at all and if I do it, it might be a one off and not worthy of purchasing a whipped cream maker. But I think some tasty cocoa topped with cannabis infused whipped cream would be dreamy. I had thought of heating the cream up first, then putting it into the refrigerator until it cooled.

The syrup idea sounds kinda wild. But if cannabinoids are not soluble in it, why use it? Caramel sounds like it would be awesome in some whip cream.

I use the maple syrup as a carrier for tincture. Tincs mix really well with honey, and OK with syrups. What cannabinoids *are* soluble in is fats, so don't skimp on fat content in your whipping cream. The syrup is just for flavour. ;) You could likely add some infused VG as well. No whipped cream maker - we just use a chilled stainless bowl and a whisk, the old fangled way...

I chase my cannabis down with beer, but for those that dont drink I see you guys are getting pretty creative with it.

Cannonball! :ko:

If I ever have time to brew my own beer i'd like to try a cannabrew, definitely in my five-year plan, ha.

So no one else has tried the cannabis infused liquor like I mentioned in the OP? I'm kinda surprised ;)

I make my own cannabis infused port. It's pretty decent, but can leave wierd green blobs on the glass. But it works just fine ;)

That sounds pretty good. Care to share a recipe?

I recently made a smallish (325mL or so) batch of cannabis & blackberry infused bourbon. Or blackberry cannabourbon, ha. Used just over 2g of decent but not great bud & it was quite effective. Woke up stoned the following day after overindulging (3 mint juleps & a shot lol) a little the night I made it. Tasted even better after letting some blackberries soak in it for a couple of days.

Next I'm thinking a white rum & possibly making some mojitos :brow:

Vitolo

Vaporist
Do not decarb prior to mixing.
  1. 1 cup everclear
  2. 1 ounce well dried and well ground herb
  • Shake well for 60- 90 seconds.
  • Strain
  • Filter
  • In pyrex measuring cup, inside of a pot of boiling water, heat and stir occasionally to force the rising ring of oil back down.
  • Reduce volume of liquid to 25% of original volume.
  • pour while hot into a tightly closed jar.
  • Shake before serving.
Mixing with cold beverage will make entire glass tacky inside.
Mixing with hot beverage will create a sticky ring around top.
Room temperature liquid works best as a mixer..
The VERY BEST way to drink this is straight up.. in a shot.
Watch out!

Easy peasy - at bottling time I put an oz of tinc in the bottle, put port in, and capped. Shake every now and then, as you'll have green sediment (unless you filter more than I did ;)

A buddy has been making infused bourbon - a bottle of the cheapest bourbon you can find, some herb (depending on what you have. I'd add a decarbed oz if available) and toss it in the magical butter machine on low temp for an hour or two. Stick down neck, and enjoy a campfire and Floyd :)

I've tried to infuse some white rum with weed by just soaking it. Pored ground mid quality bud in the glass rum flask and resealed, let it sit for a week shaking every day then i pored it in a container through a cloth strainer... Forgot all about de-carbing though lol.

That should still work, though it just won't be as effective/efficient. and you could probably still decarb it if you want.

OK, thanks third post on this forum:wave:. should i have put the glass flask in a pot of boiling water or just throw it in the microwave? That would boil away all the alcohol still. Should work i guess?:leaf:

I have just put down my second brew using AVB.

The first I used 20g boiled in 2 litres of water for 2 hours, added hops at the end of the boil for taste, then strained. The liquid and AVB and Hops in cheesecloth went into a Ruby Porter for 9 days, a dark coffee/chocolate brew. Then it conditioned for a month before I gave it a lash. It tastes great and definitely works. My first beer myself and the wife refrained all day and after work we drank 2 beers each and took the dog for a walk. It crept over both of us and was very effective. Everyone since who have tried that brew have been impressed. They all say they got the best nights sleep ever.:D

Currently waiting to be bottled I have an IPA packed full of Hops and 40g of AVB in the wort. I will post how it goes when I try it, in a month or so.

that sounds awesome. One day i'll undertake such a project. I have noticed a coffee-ish scent to my ABV that comes out of the Crafty, I could see how that would blend well into a stout or porter.

Bad Ocelot,
Before I knew much other than needing to decarb, I made infused tequila for a friend (not knowing that the proof was low).

I used ~7g for a 750 of silver tequila. Decarbed beforehand, then pressurized in a whipped cream canister as with a usual quick infusion, depressurized and heated in a sous vide bath (can't remember time and temp - probably 170ish for an hour or two). Almost forgot to depressurize before heating, which I can only imagine would have ended very, very badly.

It came out okay - milky green-white, not super strong but a shot of tequila was good for someone who used weed rarely or never. Probably wasted a good bit of the THC by decarbing and then a long heating cycle and not using Everclear or 151, but as a party trick it was fun.

I have been experimenting with various alcohol tinctures. using vodka in place of ever clear has reduced the potency and allows me to take it under the tongue for the quickest onset. Everclear just burns to much for me to injest that way.

Yesterday I pulled out some gold dragon that I made back in October. I used fresh bud instead of dried and it came out with a completely different flavor much more pleasant than the Green Dragon. I am unsure if this is due to fresh flowers or the fact that I used no heat.

I've been making a tincture very similar to the ones in this forum. I don't often use alcohol with heat. Rather I'll let it sit for up to 3 months, shaking often, before straining and bottling. I add 2 teaspoons of sunflower lecithin per 7 grams of ABV or whatever green I have lying around. If it's not ABV then it sits in the oven at 240 for 40 minutes. I use a probe thermometer to monitor ganja temps. The thermostat on my oven is not nearly as consistent as I would have thought it would be.

I am now thinking that smaller quantities say 7gr or less probably don't need a full 40 min decarb.
