How much is it? I'm in UK and the website doesn't shows it. Don't know how to change my location on the website...

Right now I'm using a pusher and I think it works amazing but having a lid and don't have to worry about having to take more "parts" with you seems like a nice idea.

They're $12.99 on the US site, and we'll have them on the other versions of our site as quickly as possible. I think we're waiting on translations right now. If you want to switch site versions, scroll to the very bottom and you'll see the "now shopping" country on the left-hand side. Click that and switch to US. If it asks for a zip code you can just enter ours: 94110.

@Ojan_at_PAX Does The new Mini charger work in a car ? The original Pax 2 charger does not (never has in any car I have tried it with ) . Although when we spoke before I purchased the Pax 2 you said it would.

Yep, both the original and the mini can. The charging power comes from what they're plugged into. A USB adapter that meets the min specs (DC 5v 1A) will successfully charge the device in a car or with a portable battery. If it's not working, then something's definitely up but it's likely that the power source is the culprit.

My experience with trying to charge in a car is that the magnet does not keep the Pax 2 connected to the charger when the vehicle is in motion. :(

Yep, the dock is pretty heavy (50g). The new mini charger is 10g and will stay put :)

Although putting a rubber band around the dock and device works too if you're in a pinch.

So glad you're loving it! I can't say anything about anything other than what's already out there. I rather enjoy my job ;)

I participated in a survey I got from the PAX guys.. there were many questions about specifics of Vapes, which indicates to me that they are working on a new Pax model but it might not be called "3."

I can't say exactly which university I am working for but I have worked in let's call it "survey analytics" - I actually have helped develop some of the algorithms that aggregate results for these types of product development surveys and have seen all sorts of questions and what they are looking for in each answer.

It seems the Pax guys are looking for improvement once again. The survey included questions related to the number and range of temperature options, inquiring how less than current (2 or 3 options) would feel and even how direct dialable temperature (like mighty/ crafty) might feel. There was a concentrate only model, and one capable of more (I think this is discussed on the other thread). Also were questions about a proprietary charger, which indicates they're considering return to this maybe for one model for faster charging. Since these are early-stage planning questions, they probably aren't too far along in physical development of the next model, but rather still on the brainstorm phase. Based on the 25 month development cycle they seem to be on, I'd expect a late May or early June release date for one (or more) model(s). Of course,

This is all speculation.

I have faith in my knowledge of these surveys but I'm also not a mind reader so I might be completely off. Please don't hate me, just be anxious with me and hope we get a Pax for all materials!

Since I know @Ojan_at_PAX is watching, I think I'll add my :2c:; especially since I have a slightly different opinion.

I'm always excited to speculate about what is next for pax. But for me, my preference is not to have an "all purpose" vape. I just believe it's harder to be truly great at everything in a single device. There has to be compromises somewhere. If you want a vape for concentrates, develop the very best one. If you want the best flowers session vape, build that (and the pax2 is pretty damn close!). Personally, I'm a huge fan of convection vapes, and I would love to see a convection pax for flowers. Plus, that satisfies vas, by building a great collection.

I'd love to hear the thoughts, wishes, and dreams of others!

Nice!
Though if they asked me;
I think it would be a good idea for an in between size lid also. Like a 3/4+ load size.

Usually the problem is just keeping the load firmly in place without shrinkage.

Personally, if you can afford this vape you don't need to save a dollars worth of bud..

So just filling it up and then pushing it down you have a 'full' load or 3/4+ or - ,full and then the screen on top to hold it firmly in place. I had to go back to using the screen..

I think it actually works better with a 3/4+ load than a full one.
I personally never 'half packed' it or filled it to the top. 3/4+ firmly held down with curved screen is perfect - for me.

Imho,,,,, Oven cap depth just needs a 4 to 4.5 mm depth to be 'perfect' for me.

Also I don't see how they could improve on the P2 body design except for maybe a more rugged rubberized ( Sportsman) finish model, maybe another, little more raised, mouthpiece design (tough one that) and a locking oven lid.

I got one of those vinyl end caps and cut it into two bands 1/2" wide. and put them on the P2 and they keep it from slipping in your hand or lap etc, getting scratched when you leave it on a table etc.

They also look sharp. Somebody could make them for sale. I think many would like them.
"Pax Straps"

Also that Hohner harmonica zipper case looks pretty nice. Would look good with a small Pax logo or plain.

That's it from your unsolicited Mid-East design analyst ...............:brow:
ymmv..

Agreed. When I say "Pax for all materials," what I really mean is that I want to be able to use something of their quality and beauty. Their vapes (even before the Pax) have always looked and functioned great. I really like the idea of a convection Pax, especially given its form factor and how easy it is to use. Convection usually means a bigger device, but I'm sure the engineers they have are hard at work...

I'd also love to see a Micro or Mini Pax for concentrates (with removable/ replaceable battery??)- that would be swell!

I've tried pushing the contacts in with my nail and a paper clip, and I've checked two chargers both rated 5.3V and 2A. I also tried cleaning it with 91% iso alcohol. It seems like the battery is just not able to be charged anymore. I filled out a support request yesterday around 6 PM central time. I'll PM you the case number. Thanks for the help, I do love this pax and I'm hoping I can get it up and running again soon.
Just adding my 2 cents. Did you try changing the USB cable to a different one to see if it charges? That's what happened to me after not using the Pax 2 for a while. Something happened to the cable and the connection was really spotty so I changed the cable and it fixed the issue instantly.

As for the new Pax whenever it comes out, please do something about the smell of the device. It's honestly my biggest gripe with it. I have used a ton of vapes and this is by far the smelliest one and it's not even close.

Hey gang! So I wanted to stop by because I have had a Pax2 for a month or so now, and I like it alright (especially the lack of need for lube and such like the Pax1 did), but I've also noticed it gets clogged sooner (perhaps nothing to be done about that), and is actually not even hitting quite as well.

I have heard though on the performance front that there are some apt tips and tricks worth sharing to get it to run better. Unfortunately FC has never been terribly well organized to find these key posts, but if anyone had a particular good one I should pay mind to with the best tips to get better performance, do let me know. The Pax one, when it was working well, got two really solid sessions out of my herb, one on medium and then one on high. On the Pax 2 I basically run it on the highest sessions both times and sometimes get one ok session out of it, and then the rest of the time I cant get much else, and there's even green or barely touched herb left (yes I stir, but I can't imagine that's the only thing one could do).

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

Anyway, any help would be much appreciated.

Here's what I do:

1. Start with extra fine grind, preferably MFFG, coffee grinder, or equivalent. I don't particularly dry it out, I grind it up at its natural cure.
2. Load up 0.35-.4 grams, packing gently but not cramming it in.
3. Start the first session at second heat setting. Take short sips in succession rather than one long pull, this keeps the oven from cooling down. I find four good lungfuls of mid/high grade herb is a decent solo session, YMMV. You should get pretty good clouds but this will depend on your herb, and no clouds doesn't always mean no joy.
4. I personally go with 5 sessions, at 2/2/3/3/4 heat settings for each. You can experiment and see what you like but keep in mind that going high heat on first session spends it quickly. Second heat is definitely enough to vaporize psychoactives. Make sure to stir thoroughly between sessions, scraping the screen gently to keep clumps from forming. In my experience if you want longer sessions than 4 or 5 pulls, you should turn it off and stir halfway through to ensure even heating. Obviously session five will taste worse than the first couple, again YMMV on whether it's gross or kinda popcorny. The ABV after this is complete garbage, I put it in the soil for houseplants.

As for clogging/cleaning I pretty much give it a scrubdown every two days, not a big deal I've learned to do it top to bottom in about 5 minutes. I never actually find much debris in the stem except when I use NewVape's aftermarket screen, bits get under that when you shake it or stir, but the stock screens seem to only let nectar through for me. The choke point is usually where the mouthpiece meets the stem, nectar drops form thick and make the draw tight so taking off the mouthpiece and wiping the air channels with iso and a q-tip should help if you can't do a full clean.

Hope this helps.

Got my half-oven lid and multi-tool yesterday. I love them both. The lid works much better than the pusher, and it'll be perfect for solo sessions when I don't want to use half a gram. This will probably become my primary lid, actually. The multi-tool will be useful for both the P2 and FF2 on the go. The silver poker fully detaches from the black tamper, but they are both attached to the chain loop. Fantastic.

So, just by chance I saw on the Pax website all the new items as well as the electric blue model.

It took a lot not to order the blue, I think it's really sharp. I did order the half pack lid and mini charger. Looking forward to both and will give impressions once I get them. I think it's funny that after seeing them, I came here to look for reviews and opinions and didn't find any, finding that really strange. Only to read some of the recent posts and find that they just came out.

I looked for a long time for the convection Pax, but it's not there, no matter how hard I look! Once it is, I will be a pre-order without question. It may not replace the Mighty, Pax2 or GH's, but I'm pretty sure it will find a place in my rotation!

@Reggie Watts , glad to hear you like them, I haven't been a huge fan of the pusher, but this looks better to me also.

Pax on and healthy green all,

MT

Hey @spincut !

My approach is a little different than @HighSeasSailor. You may want to experiment and see what works best for you.

You may want to experiment with different grinds. Medium has always been fine for me. I would think, but don't know for certain that an extra fine would clog the pax2 faster.

I suggest never filling the oven more than you will finish in a single session. I have used the NewVape pusher to act as a spacer, and really like it (and it's adjustable). Pax just came out with the half lid which serves the same purpose. I hope you saw @Reggie Watts recent post. He just got it and loves it. I have found using the pusher, you never have to stir.

I agree with @HighSeasSailor that the pax2 is more of a sipper, but I think you will need to experiment with your draw technique to find your sweet spot. I'll add that I think the flat mouthpiece is the way to go.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I keep mine standing upright after a session until it completely cools down. In my mind while hot, residue could pool in the air path or elsewhere, given the chance.

So I don't find mine clogs up that quickly. I can go for weeks without a deep cleaning. I just keep an I on the condition of the screen to see if it looks like it's getting clogged, and may occasionally remove the mouthpiece to see if that area is ready for a cleaning. If/when either reaches that point, I go for the deep cleaning.

Hope this helps!

I agree fully with @Mr. Me2 and @Reggie Watts about size of load and only filling with as much as you'll use in one sitting, especially with a conduction type vape, which will tend to vape most of what's in there anyway, and definitely degrade the taste even on your second 'session'.
The temperature selections on Pax 2 are much more complicated than the 4 petals indicate because the lip sensing technology adds automatic temp boosts (it definitely does this from settings 3 or 4, and I believe it does from setting 2 as well.) This will cause the material to be spent more quickly, making it less effective on subsequent sessions.
I suggest smaller load and adding either the pusher, the new lid or a taco screen. Temp 2 to start and after a couple of pulls, go to 3 (4 is rarely necessary, imo) for a couple of finishing hits. Medium-fine grind, firm pack.

I've heard rumors that they are branching out big time, trying to get FDA approval for an insulin vape which is quite interesting. Back in our industry, they accidentally sent an email to the company I worked for last year with design mockups for a new model not called PAX 3 but it had two chambers and I believe one was for oils.

I thought they'd be out by now!

That's weird. I thought inhaled insulin was a no-go anymore.

Pfizer was in and then discontinued their inhaled insulin product based on lung cancer concerns, IIRC. But maybe it wasn't due to the insulin delivery method, but some additive Pfizer used . . .

ETA: A quick google search reveals there was more going on than cancer concerns. The delivery tool was also cumbersome and the drug was expensive. So perhaps there's some logic in a new delivery system.

Vapor vs aerosol. Huge difference.

So I've had the new 1/2 load lid and the mini charger for a few days now.

Love the mini charger! Small enough to keep in my travel case no problem and I keep it with the small rubber band that the cord came in with the Pax2 and it holds it like a champ on the go.

I'm liking the lid more and more as I use it. It's really convenient and does just about the same job as a folded screen w/out something else to fiddle with or lose.

@Ojan_at_PAX , not sure how far along the Pax 3 is, but a solid lid closure would allow the same sort of lid, but I could be spring loaded to keep pressure on various sized loads. If there were two or three springs it could adjust to loads that aren't evenly arranged in the oven. There's actually a lot of possibilities, different tension springs so you could pack 'er tight or just hold it in place, etc. For any more ideas, you'll have to hire me as a full time tester

I'm loving this Pax 2, the battery life, the vapor, the size, it's a great package. But if you're asking, I'll preorder a convection Pax right now, consider me a backer!

Appreciate your feedback! I'll share it with the engineers. Just checked our careers page and it doesn't look like they're hiring, but keep an eye out ;)
