Hey folks!

Until the new prototype Square comes along (soon actually) I have been reaching for my Milaana for my battery operated on demand portable needs.

I do use the stock shorty stems on occasion. I cap the joint with an Arizer EQ basket and create a chamber for the herb. I dont like filling the basket and having the herb in the outside. I know some like to use it that way but I RARELY will.

I know @Vape Dr. has some beautiful stuff from @Alan and he has his own mods but I thought I would share the setups I use most often.

First a group shot:

5QKbguR.jpg

One of my favorite things about the Milaana is that works natively with a 18MM connection (just like my beloved Evo). Parts for these mods are from VXL, 7th Floor, Arizer, Triihouse (O rings), Delta 3D Studios [thx @ratchet] (Testing pressed screens for Milaana and they are working well, not as stiff as RBT screens but that can be an advantage in some setups) and the male/male adapters are off DH Gate and sold under the name Ander. I picked up five of those and I am glad I did. They have the short 22MM joint required to properly fit the Milaana. They are currently sold out and I am bummed. I like the short joint but also a very low profile so it keeps the height to a minimum. I would buy five more in a heartbeat if I could. I use the Delta 3D press screens here and an EQ cap to seal it. The seal is also nice cuz if you want a lower temp session you simple flip the adapter around to move the load away from the heater. High temp session? Put the herb into the female Milaana joint.

Here are the adapters:
Ongg6jV.jpg

All of the elev8 glass joints require an o ring. You cannot use the ground glass joint because it is too long. Actually you can drop it down in there but it won't lock into place. With the O ring about 3/4 down the joint you can not only create a seal but you can prevent the pieces from being loose and falling out.

The Green Elev8 wand is a custom piece for the DBV or SSV GG connection. This is the coolest vapor out of all the dry setups. It has a built in screen and I use an EQ basket to create a chamber in the joint.
odOV4v4.jpg

Just pull the o ring up and put shove it in the Milaana.
VQOwCrR.jpg

The Rasta Elev8 wand used to be a female SSV Wand but broke the female joint. The Rasta part stayed intact so I took it to my local glass guy, sacrificed a long RBT stem and had him put the RBT joint on the Rasta wand. No O ring on this since it has the shorty joint. It also has a built in screen because it used to be a wand. Sweet!

Jlr7IIc.jpg

The other green and red/yellow mouthpieces are for the SSV/LSV. If I recall correctly they are really designed for vape tamers which is how I discovered them. When using the Milaana out of the house I pretty much use these, an o ring and VXL elb exclusively. It requires no stir and is more forgiving than the Milaana stem because it keeps the load suspended a little further from the heater.

Notice the Apollo is in there too. You can pretty much adapt all this to that vape which is nice. I have been enjoying that one at home quite a bit lately. Ironically I use a long RBT stem as a WPA for the Apollo!

Here is another setup I like to use. Elev8 glycerin ash catcher which gives you cooling of the vapor but without water. Its a neat experience.

No stirring, even ABV, cool vapor and very tasty. All of these connections.

Let me know of any questions.

Well, shit. Female glass broken already. Filed a warranty request. Bummed I'm going to be without it for a while now. I was just getting comfortable with it.
Turn around time for me was 7 business days. Got back a completely new unit, totally updated. Send it in today, you may have it next week.

Glass breaks, that's why you need a couple.

Fuck Doc, I haven't even gotten mine yet and yours is no good.

What a joy that you have to completely baby this thing.

Is there anything other than glue that can provide some shock protection?

I'm not gonna break the glass just by setting it down on my desk am I? Is it okay if it falls over from standing up?

Jeez.

My glass broke while I was out of the room, but I'm pretty certain from the way I found it that it broke from falling over from standing. Mine has a pretty sturdy and flat bottom, so I would leave it standing after a session sometimes. I think the real cause, other than the falling over, was that it had the TAG 18/14 adapter that I use as a mouthpiece still inserted when it tipped. That piece has a round section in the middle where it kind of balloons outward, between the two male ends. I think that bit of glass sticking out made contact first and put lateral pressure on the glass, breaking it down low rather than at the female joint. The mouthpiece itself is fine, though, with no break.

My Sticky Brick and Vapcap will hold me over fine while I wait, but it sucks to be without. The Mi was growing on me fast and I still want it as my daily driver. Just need to get a case and be extra cautious with it next time.

It should spell that out in the instructions then. Been following this and the Zion thread for a long while, remember I only switched to getting the Mi because the Zion is on indefinite hold. I vaguely recall someone having a similar Zion break in the beta testing, but it's hardly something getting pointed out every other page. That's cool, though, clearly I'm just super dumb for breaking it within two days and the Mi isn't fragile in the least.

You could bring your other stems to your local glass blower and he could shorten the 18mm tips of the other stems as well. You could eliminate the o-rings all together. Have him cut it from the 26mm length it is now, to even slightly shorter than the standard 22mm to make room for the elb. Go 20mm or so. so you will be making a 19/21 mm Ground glass joint. Nice setup!

I think leaving a stem in is an obvious way to break your milaana.. Like if it would have tipped with no stem in it, I'm almost positive it would not have broken. My Milaana tips over like that all the time, the first time it happens with a stem in it my heart will stop.

Sorry to hear about the broken Milaana man. Send it back and you should have your new one soon, maybe even next week. I don't think that when your Milaana broke with a stem in it, that it's a good enough reason to call the vape fragile. At least more fragile than other loved vapes. I mean the Milaana has an 18mm female glass joint. The EVO has an 18mm male and the DBV,SSV,LSV are all other companies that sell vapes with glass parts. All of these other companies charge you when your glass breaks.. And no one posts on their threads about how fragile those vapes are.

It's pretty legit that RBT isn't charging a small fee for the female heater breaks especially when you broke it with an adapter in.. Sorry to be a dick if you perceive me that way but come on man, you are part of the reason that thing broke and the rest of the reason is that you chose to buy a vape with a glass heater. Shit happens at least RBT is gonna look out.

I guess RBT could send a manual explaining that you have an 18mm female joint that will react just like any other 18mm female joint.. I mean the EVO kinda does.. But they don't tell you everything and also charge something like $75 if your glass breaks. Also seventh floor just doesn't care if you break any of your glass parts, you can replace them online.. I mean a heater cover can break easily from joint lock and that is $25 and people don't put those vapes down as "fragile" I think that if you want a vape with a glass heater, your gonna have to deal with that exactly, a glass heater, that can break lol.

My Milaana is going strong and I love using it during the day, it keeps me mobile and ready to medicate. Wth my EVO by my bed and the stickybrick on my table as well as my SSV doing aromatherapy, I am always ready to Medicate but this wonderful vape lets me get the tasty convection clouds I need, just about anywhere. This is awesome and it has kinda changed my life a little.. I mean no more stopping home to medicate is amazing. This is the first pocket sized portable that can keep me satisfied when I'm out and that's why I say this thing has desktop power. I hope everyone is having a good day.

Yep I thought of that and may get them shortened at some point but they don't have a way to grind them down over there and everyone is so damn busy (he has been making us lots of glass) that this has not been a priority. Thanks for the idea and for the kind words.

That j hook is sweet
Is it an elev8 and is it still available?

Yep sure is. Check here! Comes in 14 or 18MM and a very reasonable $10 (IMO)!

Here is the GG mouthpieces if anyone is interested. They also have cheaper clear ones for $12.

If you like the long Green DBV Wand (my favorite) you can find something similar here.

Hope this helps!

It has big red lettering in the instructions warning not to leave the battery in, but no such warning for the stem, including in the Do and Don't section. The only time it mentions taking it out is as the last, pack everything away step of the instructions, with no emphasis on removing the stem. I'm not trying to dodge taking any responsibility, but it's also not like I get away with no hassle or cost having the warrantied item replaced. I do have to pay to ship it back.

My point is just that pretending this vape isn't fragile is silly. I've absolutely seen the 7th Floor heater covers and the like called fragile. Same for the Evo heater, although I've seen it take plenty of hard bumps without breaking. Glass is inherently fragile and the Mi uses a relatively thin glass tube as a prominent part of the design. I think calling that fragile is fair.

You know what has glass but isn't fragile, though? The Sticky Brick. Its glass parts are thick as hell and I'd have no worry about it taking a fall twice as high. You also have to remember that the mouthpiece from Thick Ass Glass that likely took the initial impact didn't break. So all glass isn't necessarily equal.

I agree about the brick.. I can throw mine at a wall and I'm more worried about the wood than the glass. But the EVO heater seems to be the same thickness, and I know that a SSV heater cover is probably easier to break, and they do admit it is fragile; I wasn't trying to say the Milaana was in no way a fragile vape, I was saying that it is a vape with glass parts that will come with the same issue that most vapes with glass parts come with. I'm sure with a broken one your view is going to be different than mine. That is shit man.. I'm not saying your issues your dealing with don't matter, I'm sorry you gotta pay for shipping and hopefully now that you know to keep the stems out, your Milaana will be safe in the future. I never thought this vape was fragile or a tank.. When I take it out I am careful with it, I put the stems in carefully do things carefully I wish I didn't have to. It would be nice if this thing was just a tank with nothing breakable, but it has a glass heater that comes with ups and downs I guess.
Sorry about the edit.

Sorry about the edit.

You make fair points. I'm just crabby about being Mi-less. I do appreciate that RBT covers the heater glass for 60 days. I'll be much more cautious with my second chance. I was leaving my stem in mostly because I was afraid of it rolling off the table and breaking, honestly, which seems like backwards priority now. I just didn't think it would make so much difference to the heater glass. On the upside, the actual female joint held up well. The break was all down below.

If you do want to leave the stem in, just lay the unit on it's side......

I don't know if that's a good idea with the TAG mouthpiece I use. It has a disc-like bulge in the middle that sticks out past the edge of the Mi, so it would be sitting on that and putting some pressure on the joint if laid on its side with the stem in.

I just need to remove the stem and keep it on its side when I get it back. I just wasn't being sufficiently careful and paid the price. I usually do well with glass, I've used the same small beaker style bong for a decade, but the seeming sturdiness of the Mi had me being more carefree than I should have been.

I'm sure everyone can sympathize with being mi less.. That is something I hope I never have to deal with personally. Sorry about your Milaana down situation man, hopefully by posting your experience can provide info to make future customers have a better one. The fact is that the glass heater is one of the things that makes the Milaana so great in my opinion. Glass Just has these obvious downsides.

I laughed out loud a little when you said leaving the stem in because you didn't want it to roll off the table was a backwards priority. In hindsight I'm sure it was but at the time I'm sure it made total sense;) I can see myself doing something the same thing lol.
