I use a plumber torch something of the kind as you speak of @Mister G. It does take less time to get up to temp. I was using the wrong nozzle for the torch :D. Im using a bigger nozzle now gives bigger and prolly hotter flame. First heat up i get it up red hot! Its just the way it is shown...
