Yocan Cerum

@momofthegoons
I saw your insta of Yocan's Cerum:

Is that a 510 threaded device?, or is it EGO as I think the Evolve is?

I've received the new Cerum from Yocan.

Basically, this is the Nyx made of ceramic and without the carb button. It uses a similar two quartz coil atty but the well is made of the same ceramic material as the rest of the Cerum. Not sure what the wire is made of. I'm assuming nichrome?

With the mouthpiece off, you can see that the atty has a ceramic cap.

This atty is supposed to be used on a box mod, or similar battery, between 15 - 25w. I'm using it at 15w since I feel the taste suffers when it's set higher. My Eleaf box mod died so I'm using another type from another manufacturer so that I could test it. So far I like it, but prefer the Nyx because of the carb button. My first two hits tasted a bit 'off' but I think that was the atty 'seasoning' a bit. Subsequent hits have been nice and smooth.

Thanks for alerting me to this Mom.
This looks pretty cool.
A couple of (or three!) questions if I may?:
Does the Cerum work with temp control?
Is the fitting a 510 thread?
Did you get a donut atomiser with yours?

My Milaana does a pretty damn good job with concentrates, but I'm wondering howw a full ceramic device might enhance taste.
I dab off Ti, quartz and ceramic, but haven't tried a proper full ceramic device.
Many thanks.

Does the Cerum work with temp control?
Yes. If you put it on a mod, you can change up the wattage and up the temp (or lower). I prefer to use it at lower temps.

Is the fitting a 510 thread?
Indeed it is. Same as the other Yocan products.

Did you get a donut atomiser with yours?
I did not. It is the 2 quartz coil atty. I would love to try their donut atty though. I'll have to see if I can locate a vendor and pick one up. Do you happen to know where they are available?

Sorry to be a pest, but I can't tell from your reply whether you've been using the Cerum in wattage mode, or on an actual temperature control mod?
I'm sorry; I guess I didn't understand your question. I'm running it in wattage mode. However, the higher the wattage, the higher the temp so I guess it's sort of the same thing?

Thanks @Nssl and @Vitolo for the links.

Looking into the Cerum I found it available here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Yocan-Cerum...hash=item281b62d66a:m:mWOkK5rHQXXWWuQkpu06T7A

I was sort of surprised to see it listed for wax or dry herb. The box it comes in says wax. I can't imagine using this type of atty for dry herb. :hmm:

Vito, the only reason I wouldn't compare this to the Evolve is that, like the Nyx, Yocan advises using it at 15w - 24w. This means it needs something like a box mod, which the Evolve doesn't need. The Cerum can be used on the Evolve battery, but you wont get the full spectrum of temps. :2c:

The Yocan Cerum
It is a privilege to discuss a wonderful new tool made by Yocan.
Yocan's previously proven power and technology is used here...
The usual flawless powerful hits as found in the Yocan Evolve Plus has been built upon to
give the user an ultimate experience in luxury vaping.
Some individuals are very sensitive about flavors and they claim the ability to detect metallic flavors in their hits when using some devices.
No metal taste here.
This entire thing is pure 100% finished ceramic.
Not the dull unfinished ceramic used in elements.
This is high gloss, finished to a reflective perfection Ceramic Tool.
You see the Cerum Here with it's Extra coil... also pure Ceramic.
DSC04331.jpg

The top comes off nicely, with a double set of silicone rings, and seats snugly every time.
The mouthpiece is smooth, elegant, and of one single piece construction... seamless. Taste free ceramic against the lips.
DSC04328.jpg

The top to the dual coil quartz atomizer, is also ceramic and screws on with threading that is amazingly well done.
DSC04329.jpg

It resists sticking, and unscrews just as easily as it screws closed.
The bottom Breather hole is wide for unrestriced draw, yet leakage has not occurred at all.
DSC04340.jpg

It's an easy aim drop for a ball of wax down the slick sides of this ceramic Atomizer's shaft:
DSC04330.jpg

Smooth and glossy.
DSC04338.jpg

What you are seeing on the inside wall is reflection
DSC04337.jpg

Large split Pea sized dabs are consumed completely leaving the inside free of residual materials.
The Coil below was used for 8 large beads of wax and shatter.
DSC04335.jpg

The form factor is also elegant, as it is a natural fit with the Yocan Evolve Plus Battery... but it also fits your box mods.
DSC04341.jpg

The taste was as clean as I have had from a pen.
the Cerum is well thought out and will meet your expectations.

Trying to wrap my head around the point of putting Quartz inside a ceramic body.

Trying to wrap my head around the point of putting Quartz inside a ceramic body.
Reason:
This is not porous ceramic.. it is high gloss.
Ceramic Elements and wicking devices are porous, and retain flavors and are a bit more resistant to rejuvenation.
The composition of the Quartz is more parallel to the non porous surface of the Ceramic.
The taste was as clean as I have had from a pen.
That is because it tastes pure each time.
No residual flavors or residues absorbed into unfinished ceramic surfaces.

(I am sure that the donut coils made by Yocan will work here)

I am very familiar with the divine tribe style of ceramic atomizer. Nothing new here with the cerium. It's not like the metal housing on the evolve is causes the taste to degrade, it's the repeated heat from the coils. Again, seems like a step in the wrong direction, from my POV

Very well...
... and because it is ceramic, there are fewer "joined edges" and sharply angled edges that seems to make cleanup a drop easier.

Some purists swear that they can taste a metallic flavor from the heated air within a stainless steel chamber.
I do not taste it, but can not discount it, as I can not drink any beverage from a can... it tastes metallic to me.
While the Evolve Plus does not give me a metallic taste, the ceramic housing besides a much easier cleanup gives me a cleaner taste. I do not think myself susceptible to psychologically thinking the flavor to be more clean with this than the dozens of Evolve Plus and NYX units I have used.

Cool. Will probably give one a try.
