Discontinued herbalAire

I'll use whatever is handy. I've had my 2.2 for 5-6 years. in the beginning I only used nugs as recommended but after trying some fine grind I realized that this thing work great no matter how you load it. the flavor seems better with nugs or maybe I just convince myself of that. these days its usually set to 375 and water filtered. My other vapes have been getting all the love lately, its time to break out the Herbie tonight

I tend to use chunks of bud, often 'greased' with some concentrate.
I just got my Herbalaire Elite yesterday, and tried it last night with a nice purple, whole bud.
Nice. Have some questions for Neil, gonna give him a call shortly, but I foresee a nice future with this unit.

In my experience, the herbalaire works well, no matter what you throw at it, from top shelf to brickweed, to concentrates, as well as finely ground flower, to dense nugs and compacted pieces. No other vape can make this claim.

@VapeKnight : I'm convinced that using whole nugs do indeed taste better, and have more effect than ground herb. Mostly because of losses of the actives (cannas and terps) to the grinder, losses of volatiles to the air as the trichomes get ripped apart due to grinding, as well as to general handling, which is more significant than anyone cares to admit. The HA gets more actives to the bowl, and extracts them more evenly & thoroughly than any other vape, imo.

Oh yeah, love doing that. Put little chunks in until I can't see the screen and then put a little magic on top.

Does it get very messy?
I haven't had an issue so far. Though I do use my ha a little different when I do it which I should of probably described.

I wait until it's heated before dropping in the crucible, I inhale slowly at first to give it time to melt in, and I run it at 400. Doing this tends to make the session last a long time too, usually past the first timeout. Also it usually knocks me out and sends me off to a nap.

To be extra careful you can use their crucibles designed for concentrates instead of the regular ones. I actually overloaded a too dirty concentrate crucible once with just wax and it went all the way down and out the air intake on the bottom. Cleaned it with iso q-tips and haven't noticed a difference.

I let the chamber heat up, then I drop the crucible with concentrate (tiny amount goes a long way, the glass beads spread it out for a big increase in surface area) into the chamber and put on the mouthpiece, I wait a minute for the crucible to heat up and the concentrate to melt into the glass beads and screen and then pull on it or fill a bag. You'll get a few bags (Herbalaire single size, I'll be trying the oven bags <double size>) out of one crucible.

It's actually an easy vape to clean, and it's rare for things to 'spill' out of a crucible, but it's stainless steel beneath, so ISO cleans it up pretty easily. I have an extra crucible tube (holds 5-6?) that I use for cleaning, (they sell it specifically for this) I drop a dirty crucible in some 91% ISO (all I can find on a Q&D hunt locally), let it soak for awhile, shake it around, and you've got some fairly dark residue being pulled off the glass beads and crucible into solution. I let them soak for days, as I've got spares of both style of crucibles. I've read some folks try and reclaim this, but have to go re-read how, ISO is not something to make mistakes with for medical patients. I just use a good paper towel that I get wet with ISO and twist it into the chamber, getting as much in there and twisting it around, changing direction, etc.
I get some out of the air inlet, then I blow it dry through the air inlet just with my mouth, let it air out for awhile and then heat it up (with nothing in it) to make sure the ISO has evaporated.
If necessary, I'll use my dental pick to make sure the air vents in the chamber are clear and clean, but that's fairly rare and I use this a LOT.

Hi guys,

I've got a herbalaire 2.0 but it seems that the heating element needs replacing. It wont heat up etc. It is out of warranty and the manufacturer offered a repair service for $40 plus shipping to Canada! So naturally I was hoping for an alternative.
Anyone have an idea how I can repair it myself?

Actually upon closer inspection theres no life at all in it. No power or heat, nothing! Any idea how to fix?
Ive eliminatedthe obvious like the fuse and taken it apart to find all soldering is intact and nothing is lose. So what could be wrong?

$40 for a repair sounds very reasonable to me. I don't know if I would consider many other options over this one.

I figure this thread could use a little activity. HA is great and doesn't get nearly enough attention, in my opinion. Sadly, I hadn't used mine since I got an lsv 5 months ago, but I decided to bring it out of retirement today. I tossed a few small nugs in the crucible. No grinding, no stirring, no hassle. I didn't expect much in the flavor and cloud departments. I assumed I had been spoiled by glass and convection. Safe to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I started at 350, popped the TonG on, and took a few direct draw hits. The vapor was potent and tasty. To be honest, it was kicking my ass, so I tossed it on my bong. Not the densest through a waterpipe but still very satisfying. By the time I could really taste the conduction the load was spent. As usual, the nugs were completely toasted throughout. And so was I haha.

I have been thinking about the herbaiaire a little too. was still getting some use out of me for a while, even the the e-nano is my goto. But i managed to lose some of the teflon pieces, will have to order replacements.
I may actually sell it, since it gets so little use. But, it did right by me, just not my daily driver.

had not seen it, and it sez you don't use it with the crucible? I think that is lost too, so that's a plus, possibly one less thing to replace. And yeah, being able to easily use with glass would make it even more versatile.
You can use the standard mouthpiece with glass. It's just a bit of a PITA because it will pop off the oven easily. I modified my crucibles so they would fit with the TonG, but you can just pack herb directly in the oven. I wouldn't grind it in that situation but I don't really grind with the HA anyway. It works pretty well through water. That was my prefered way to use it, but I really enjoy the direct draw now. And bags can be pretty chill in groups. I'm trying to convert my friends into vapor purists lol but it's a slow battle. Mostly because they're broke, but also because they don't know much about vaporizers. I get the question, "Is that like a volcano?" fairly often. So it's nice to have the option to use bags. And with all the other options provided, at less than half the price of a volcano, I still think it's a hell of a deal. Thats why i got it. The HA is very versatile. Sure it may not perform as well at one specific thing compared to a vape that was designed for that specific thing only, but I think it's great at everything it does. It's certainly not a one trick pony

Even with all my other vapes I never quit my herbailaire. Temporarily neglect, but never quit. I love throwing in material whole or chunked or ground, setting the temp, and forgetting the device is even there. I love most of the vapes I have, but they usually require attention and fussing. When I'm watching stuff or talking or gaming it's so easy to quickly throw something in the crucible and I actually hang the whip so it's just hovering around head level. It's especially great when I'm playing online, when I die I usually have enough time to throw a nug in before I respawn. Plus it's been going.... 7 years now I think, I've dropped it several times, leaked wax down inside it twice, and still works exactly how I want.

Thank you for sharing this, I can't believe I'd never seen it. I'd love to send some stuff.

Damn, I haven't posted in here in a while. Honestly, I haven't used the HA in a while, but I just did a couple bowls to remind myself how good it is. And it definitely IS good and flavorful. I have gotten so used to batteries and butane that I have nearly forgotten about the unlimited power of just "plugging it in".

Maybe a little less convenient, but it never runs out. And I sure do love the taste of whole nugs. No other vape I have is quite as good at ringing out that last little bit... :)

I contemplated selling it. Not anymore...

My H2.2 is the only vape I use or want. Am an older person who always vapes near electric outlets. We'll give my sister-in-law a new H3 for Christmas since she likes using my H2.2 but they're no longer available. Just keep the Ascent in my signature so my first posts here are credible.

ha 2.2 still going strong. through water, no crucible, no grind, packed tight like a puck, w/ their tong, which fits 14mm and 18mm female joints. I am getting ready to get the cloud evo and will retire my 2.2 to back up. just want the extra power of the evo.
