I adapted my Tincture recipe to make e-cig juice from ABV I save up over time. This is a 3 part process. Any input or questions are welcome.

Part 1: ABV Alcohol Tincture

**Note:This uses Everclear 190 and heat, so it is very flammable. Please use caution and don't get the Everclear around the heating element. USE THIS RECIPE AT YOUR OWN RISK.**

ITEMS NEEDED
- ABV (I use 10g)
- Everclear (190 proof is the best, if you have trouble finding it locally google wine chateau online store)
- Mason jar
- Candy thermometer
- Large pot
- Funnel
- 4 oz glass dropper bottle( may need bigger for larger amount of ABV)
- Muslin bag
- Fork
- Gloves

1) Store alcohol in freezer a day or so before the extraction. Put ABV in jar and pour chilled everclear in jar so it just covers ABV.
2) Stir with fork for 5 minutes. Put on lid and shake vigorously for 5 minutes. Jar might be cold from liquid so gloves might be a good option. After shaking, take off lid and let sit
until the jar is around room temperature.( Do not strain )
3) Put candy thermometer in mason jar.
4) Fill Pot with 1 to 2 inches of water and put mason jar in middle.
5) Turn on stove and get the thermometer to reach 170 degrees F. Make sure to turn on the stove fan if you have one.
6) Once it reaches ~170 degrees F turn on a timer or use a clock for 20 minutes.
7) Watch the thermometer so it doesn't go above 174 degrees F, stir with thermometer every 5-8 minutes.

8) After 20 minutes turn off stove, put on oven mitts, and take mason jar out of pot.
9) Put away thermometer and let mason jar sit for 10 minutes or until cool.
10) Put dropper bottle with top off in sink, put funnel in top of dropper bottle.
11) Put muslin bag over top of mason jar and slowly empty mason jar into muslin bag into funnel.
12) Make sure and squeeze all the liquid into the funnel.
13) Now you have ABV tincture.

Part 2: Evaporating alcohol

ITEMS NEEDED
- Tincture from above part 1
- Small fan that can be pointed at something.
- Pyrex Dish
- Razor Blade Scraper (Be careful, very sharp)
- dab tool to work the oil
- Wax paper

1) Pour Tincture into Pyrex glass dish.
2) Take a small fan and point it at the opening of the bowl. I put mine on an empty box so it is above the bowl. I would set this up in a bathroom.

3) Let fan run overnight till all liquid is gone and you have a blackish sludge left over.
4) With extreme caution, use the scraper to scrape up the oil. The oil is extremely sticky and will get everywhere if you do not keep an eye on it.
5) use dab tool to work the oil off the blade and onto wax paper.

6) You now have ABV oil, you can dab it, make edibles or follow part 3 to make THC E-liquid

Part 3: Turning ABV oil into E-cig Juice

ITEMS NEEDED

- Small Crockpot
- Puff Majic
- ABV Oil
- Syringe with large gauge needle
- Dab tool for mixing

1) Add ABV oil and Puff Majic to crockpot. I use 1 part ABV oil to 3 parts Puff Majic, I put a folded cloth under one side of my small crockpot so it pools in the side.
2) Wait a few minutes for the ABV oil to get runny then use dab tool to mix.
3) Draw up as much ABV e-liquid as you can with the syringe.
4) Add to your favorite atomizer, make sure it can handle thicker liquids. I would store the liquid in the refrigerator.

Have you tried winterizing the tincture before evaporation? I'm curious if there are any waxes and such left over in the ABV. I was surprised at some of the crap I found in my oil rig reclaim after winterizing.

Just looked up the winterizing process, never tried it before. Im assuming there are waxes in it from how dark the oil is. If I remember, I will try it next batch. I will be surprised if it can turn the dark black oil into a transparent color.

It won't be transparent, more than likely it will be darker. But it will filter out some inactives and increase potency.

Activated charcoal might help with the color. I would only use that extract internally if it were me. It probably tastes terrible and is not too potent. Water doesn't extract actives and you don't really need any heat. I bet all abv oil comes out brown in any case. Over at skunkpharm they have a method they used to extract and clean up a whole bunch of roaches, and I guess it came out okay. I think they used brine water and extracted with hexanes, but I am not positive. Read up on QWET as well, if you like ethanol. It's an extraction method.

Here you go for cleaning it:
https://skunkpharmresearch.com/getting-the-green-and-waxes-out-afterwards/

That roach extraction is in there too, and looks like brine water and hexane.

I'll have to read about QWET. I dont really trust hexane, at least with my abilities to purge it correctly.

I actually would recommend against making an e-liquid from the ABV oil. It was working well, but I think it was because there was already some other THC e-liquid in there. The ABV e-liquid seems still too thick and hits harsh, even with the 1:3 ratio.

I do have some ABV oil, which I will try dabbing this weekend.

I did make about 4ml of the ABV oil-based e-liquid with puff majic.

I don't really want to vape it because its hitting so harsh. I also don't want to throw it out either.

My question is if Puff Majic Original Flavor actually edible? Ive read that PEG 400 is safe and used in medicine. I don't really know whats in puff majic other then that.

Yea, the ABV oil itself is actually good for dabbing, doesnt taste horrible. I think part of the problem with my e-liquid, is that its very thick and the cartridges arent that great that I have. I may dilute it more by adding more puff majic. I bought a Joyetech evic vtc mini mod with temp control and a Cubis atomizer that is very leak resistant. I will wait till it comes from china and report back here.

Does it give u a 'dirty' or burnout feeling after/the next day?

If the liquid is too thick it won't coat the attys right. I've been vaping ecigs since '08 and if my atomizer isn't soaked thru where it leaks out I get a harsh hit.

Surprised it doesn't taste horrible - very encouraging!

Why cold first, if just heating up next? Seems like basically making green (amber) dragon.

I'll have to read about QWET. I dont really trust hexane, at least with my abilities to purge it correctly.

QWET works by solubilizing only oil in trichomes. That's already been vaped. Right to make green dragon to get at what's leftover. Also right about hexane. If you're not confident with butane, wouldn't think about hexane.

IME, winterizing never hurts and usually helps.

IMO, easiest to get good results with RDA.

Good luck - looking forward to next report!

No burn out feeling but it can make my throat a little sore if I tried taking many hits, also it does not produce a lot of vapor with the cheap cartridges I am using.

"Why cold first, if just heating up next? Seems like basically making green (amber) dragon."

I was trying to combine the cold extraction method with the heated method. Although this recipe uses ABV instead of fresh flower, I have read that part of the reason blasting with butane works, is because the extreme cold knocks off the trichome glands. When making tincture, it seems to make a slight difference in the potency, but then again, the source of ABV is always different. Since ABV is essentially free, I like to experiment.

one thing to be careful of with the cubis, is since its leakproof, it has no hole in the center of the cup. it works by the bottom of the atomizer metal touching the bottom of the cup metal, and bottom of cup to 510 pin, to battery.

the initial thought is.. you want it to make good connection so you would screw the top down to the tank fairly tight to make good connection. if you do this, you're pushing the bottom of the atomizer towards the bottom of the cup, its squishing the insulator. this flattens and spreads it just enough to make the bottom feed holes smaller and may hinder your thicker liquids/oils in wicking up. you'll see what I mean when you get it and put it all together.

otherwise, the tank seems to work real well for concentrates with honey like consistency to water like consistency

Thanks for the ideas, I decided when the new mod and tank comes im going to thin out the ABV e-liquid out more by adding some peg 400/PG.

No chemicals are left over except the ABV oil to dab? I wonder if the method of putting the glass on a candle heater would more thoroughly rid of possibly inhaling alcohol used during extraction (I'm mega sensetive). It would definitely be dryer, tho.

I've tried numerous times, with modest success, to convert reclaim into a usable & not foul tasting e-liquid. Ran into some of the same issues you've mentioned. Until I'm able to get a good vacuum pump setup & some reasonably priced hexane that project is going to be on the shelf, so to speak. Ultimately I've come to the conclusion that it's better to use for edibles.

Hi im curious as to whether or not you tried to winterized with everclear before trying to make your e liquid? I have a theory that getting the waxes and lipids and whatnot out will result in a thinner, more poten liquid.

Why do you have to winterize if you've already frozen everything and extracted using the initial filtering process? Does it not get everything out?

Winterizing isnt for extracting cannabinoids, its for removing undesirables like wax and lipids so youllhave a smoother, more potent extract.

But it's still the same thing, you filter out cold alcohol through a coffee filter.

I guess the initial filtering doesn't get enough.

Can you winterize with iso?

Thats something id like to know myself actually.i tried once but i couldnt get any waxes to coagulate.i guess it has to be ethanol.

If you extract with ISO, you want to winterize with ethanol.

Ethanol is a different polarity and works to remove most of the plant waxes.

Iso is a great solvent, but almost too good as it picks up more than just cannabinoids. That's why we have a quick wash.

With winterizing I find a lot of the wax freezes to the sides of the container. And some will collect on the filter.
