Wow, I forgot that I even posted that query and just saw it now. I've been to your Instagram page to check out the Apollo before mine arrived......the vape porn was much appreciated.

Since we both have the Apollo as a baseline, I am wondering how the taste of flowers in the Guru compares to the flavour and speed of extraction available from the Apollo.

I am really liking the Apollo; I also have a Mighty that is sitting idle due to the Apollo and was considering the Guru for when extracts become more widely available in Toronto.

Hopefully J.T. follows through and doesn't just "Cry Me A River" about why things aren't changing.....but we'll see.

So not really in a hurry for a Guru but also wondering how it deals with flowers using both the Mighty and the Apollo as a baseline for comparative comments.

I apologize for taking so long to respond. I have been very scattered brain over the last month. Thanks and glad you like the pics! I do like taking pics of my vapes lol.

The Guru is a quick session and the Apollo is a long session. I vape the Guru around 350-365F and the Apollo I start at 6 and end on 4. The Guru after 4-5 mins the oven is done while with the Apollo I run it 8-10 mins before it is done.

Now having said that (to give you the basis of how I vape), the Guru is a faster extractor while it takes a few to get the Apollo to take flight. The Guru is a BMW (you will look good, drive good and get there in style very quick) and the Apollo is a BMW Limo (you will look good, drive good and get there in style but takes a little longer). I use my Guru when on the go running errands, playing golf, hanging with a friend, etc while the Apollo is for around the house. Most people I have had use the Guru seem to understand it better than the Apollo (it has taken me a while to understand the Apollo lol)

The taste is better through the Apollo with herbs but it is fairly close. That boost feature on the Apollo really blasts ya with flavor. I haven't done any oil/wax/crumble through the Apollo but through the Guru is extremely tasty.

My Mighty/Crafty sit in my vape graveyard after I got the Guru and the Apollo. Those 2 are just a pain in the ass to deal with compared to the Guru and Apollo. I doubt I will ever pick the M/C up again.

Hope that helps somewhat and I promise not to take 6 months to respond again lol.

Hello guys!
After reading all the praises to Guru, I think I'm ready to order one for me too. The only last concern I have is how easy it this thing to clean. I mean what happens when those little holes in chamber get clogged with pieces of herb? Is it easy to get them out then, maybe blow out somehow?

Overall it's easy to clean. If you're referring to the mouthpiece just blow into it. The Guru is very low maintenance. I'm yet to have anything clogged anywhere

Thank you for your reply!
I'm mostly concerned with chamber where you put your herb, there are airflow holes at the bottom that seem hard to clean if herb stick inside. But you are saying you don't experience such problems? Then it's great! Just wanted to make sure.

I've never had those clog either. I usually just throw a small nug in the chamber and enjoy the buzzzzzzzzzz. This chamber you don't need to grind, throw some small nugs in and enjoy. But even when grinding my herb, never had a problem cleaning it or with it clogging. What comes with the vape is more than enough to keep it clean my friend to me. Glad to help anytime my friend.

A unexpected package reached my home today, it is a Gurù i received from Namaste!

Looks like a quality vape, it is actually charging but there is no instruction about charge...how to know it is fully charged, please?

My full review will come later.

edit: Did the wax atty works on every 510 threaded battery (not sub-ohm)? I ask that cause I tried to test it (with my small Dabstorm battery, 4V) while the base unit is charging but it doesn't heat at all....any idea?

You should see the bars showing when charging. The battery bar should be full when charged. Just turn it on while charging to double check. It has pass through charging. I think you just voided the warranty by doing that with the Dabstorm (read the warranty, I could be wrong).

Edit: it voids it using sub ohm tanks on the Guru so you should be groovy on that aspect

I also got Guru yesterday, however I'm not sure it is okay. It haven't tried it yet but ceramic chamber concerns me. It has this cylinder part (for herb) and it's a little detached from the rest of the chamber, like if it was glued to it and didn't stick well. Here is a picture I took:

It doesn't look good to me. So what do you guys think, it is normal or my unit is damaged?

P.S. Such a bummer: delivery took more than a month, and then it comes defective (?)..

The unit I received looks exactly the same , I'm not sure if it's really an issue..

Yes, I also saw few pictures with the same "feature", that's why I am not sure if it is a flaw or not. However, I wonder if the air would be pulled (at least partially) through these slits instead of holes in the bottom of the chamber.

My Guru is arrived some days ago and I'm was able to test it....but not enough to post my full review now.

I can say it's a very nice vape with a lot of positives .....and some negatives too. More to come!

While waiting here a comparative size pic and a video review from Kory:

Here my review of the Guru by Grizzly!

The unit comes in a nice box including the Guru base (battery), dry herb attachment, e-liquid/wax base attachment, e-liquid cart, wax cart, glass mp, glass mp WT adaptater (14mm), loading tool, dabber with silicon tip, brush, charger, user guide and stickers. here a unboxing pic:
KANH3q9.jpg

Buiding quality & size: It is a plastic body, each part(e-liquid/wax or dry herb) is attached to the base with a sort of guide rail until the clic to securize it. µIt works well but it's definitly a weak point since everytime I remove the glass mp some strength is applied on this "connexion"...except if I take care to put my hand on both the base and the attachment. The glass parts are not very thick but not too thin, although another mp option less breakable is a must to do (in the future I think).

Dry Herb attachment: It is the attachment I used the more (I'm a flower guy...mainly), after some tries I was able to get some nice sessions...there is a small learning curve for me. You can heat to 446°F at max temp, usefull for the clouds chasers even if I think it's better for flavour... The heating chamber is made of ceramic and is surrounded with another ceramic acting as a heat shield (that's why the heating chamber ceramic seems different than the top ceramic), after loading you place the glass mp (or WT adaptater) on the top. The glass mp is another weak point cause is there a sort of large silicon o-ring to make the seal but it's very difficult to put in place, maybe with some oil... and without to mention how glass is fragile...

It heats really fast...I didn't count but I'm sure it's under 30s to heat to 400°F. I loaded it at first with some fine grounded flowers loosely packed..I get some nice clouds but taste degrade after some hits...in fact it prefers tight pack and coarse grind or no grind to works well.

I will not tell the vapor quality is on the top, although it's very decent tasting vapor (no factory taste or robot fart), that's why I prefer to use it dry, although you can push the temp up to get some milky hits (I will post a milk shot!).

Loading is easy with the provided tools but unloading is not "clean" especially is you use grind.

E-liquid/wax attachment: I used the wax atty with ceramic disc and I get some big rips, tasty enough (the atty get a faint of robot fart at first...disappeared quickly), I think it's not a very conservative atty, a load I can use for a lot of hits in my Evolve Plus last me 3-4 big rips with the Guru. I didn't tried the e-liquid attachment (I will never do it!). The battery part offer a variable voltage feature (3.0v to 5.0v) but no temp control...I need to test some different attys to check if they work, the Guru wax atty doesn't fire with all my others batteries...it fires only with the Guru.

Battery life/ base unit interface: The battery life seems awesome...to be honnest I lost the count of the sessions...but it was a lot! To start the unit you clic 3 times, after that you can adjust temp/voltage with the + and - buttons with 1°F/0.1v increment by tap or faster if you keep the button pressed. to start heating you press for 3s for dry herb and only press for wax/e-liquid, with flowers you can adjust temp while heating .

Here another pic:
nrl2Wk2.jpg

CONCLUSION: The Guru by Grizzly is definitly a true vape and is a very decent option for a unit able to vape dry herb, wax or e-liquid. I heard the competition about 3 in 1 devices doesn't vape flowers very well...here it is the main goal: to offer a device to taste your flowers, not only to get clouds!

But there is always pros and cons, here the list I made for the conclusion.

Pro:
- Tasty , especially whole nuggs
- smooth hits (at least under 400°F)
- 3 in 1
- Vape ungrouded flowers very well (quasi comparable to the HA2.2 extraction!)
- Water tool adaptater included
- battery life
- feels solid and sturdy in hands
- affordable price
- avalaible in Europe

Cons:
- the connexion between the battery and the attachment coul be more solid
- difficult to put on the glassmp /WT adaptater (it's easier to remove), I even use a dabber to put the silicon o-ring in place.
- Doesn't produces large clouds under 400°F, not a big issue for me especially since I can go up of 440°F
- No micro-usb charge option
- No unbreakable mouthpiece option (it's a must to put in your future plans Grizzly!)
- a bit large for a portable but not a big deal imo
- building quality might be better with an aluminium body.

Thanks for looking and let me know if you have some questions.

Here a pic of a hit with Guru+Orbiter filled with Northern light whole flowers at 395°F, maybe not the thickest vapor but rather good enough for me and so tasty!

Hi Everybody, I'm Tom..

I am new to the forum. I came across the forum through a friend who knew about my issues with the Guru. I just wanted to weigh in with my experience.

At first I didn't know what to think.. I had a few problems with the unit and in the end I contacted the reseller NamesteVapes. I honestly thought that it was just the way it was and I had wasted my money.

But, to my great surprise I was really taken care well by them. I wasn't fobbed of by a robotic customer service agent, I was actually put in contact with a high ranking member of staff who was refreshingly eager to hear my story and offer me a replacement solution. So kudos to the team at NamesteVapes for that.

Well, I tried it last night for the first time, with a medium coarse grind starting at 370°F. Lovely flavor off the first hit, with a decent cloud. I moved up to 380° for the next hit, big cloud nice and smooth, then I moved up to 390°, big cloud ..a bit harsh on the throat though. So I will try to stay around the 380-5° mark, of course it depends on the humidity of your flowers.

But, the point being is that the first I got must have been a dud unit that got through quality control. Bad wiring or something as the battery wouldn't even last 15mins with the heating element on. The new one came half charged I used it for 20mins and it was still half charged afterwards.

Result is that I am really happy with the Guru, decent size, decent quality and great price for a good vaping experience. Also it is pretty easy to keep clean..

A trick I came up with for the mouth piece insertion problem, go over the o-ring with one layer of smooth scotch tape, make sure to keep it on the side walls and not under to keep it away from touching the ceramic heat sink. You will see that it slips in quite easily like that and doesn't interfere at all with the vapor path.

So there you go..

If your in the market don't hesitate to get a GURU you won't be disappointed, and if you are get in touch with the re-seller and I am sure a replacement will sort it out for you, if you buy through NamesteVapes you are sure of a great after sales support also,..

I am happy to have found a decent forum also for information about vaping.. I hope that I contribute frequently in the future.

Peace out.

Since it isn't mentioned, I take it that this isn't a user-swappable battery in the base? (I don't count swapping the entire base)
