Puffco wax pen

Really quiet on here. Anyone else got one and have opinions? Puffco's instagram is getting flooded with complaints about poor or nonfunctional performance. They uploaded a video on how to properly test it and the complaints are still coming.

What issues have they had? I had some issues in the very beginning with my puffco pro but I've had my Puffco+ since Monday and I have a friend with one as well with no issues. But there may be bad batches. My last experience with them over issues was handled 110%. They were a little slow reply to my messages though but they followed through on every promise they made and even gave me a free extra pen and extra coils to make up for the slow reply.

This thing looks interesting, but is anybody else frustrated with designs where you have to handle the mouthpiece constantly with dirty fingers? Even just a good cap would be nice, maybe of antibacterial material?

I've had mine since Monday as well, and have run almost a gram thru it, almost exclusively at green heat setting.

I get barely a hint of vapor, unless on sesh mode at this heat, but since I'm a low temp ghost hit kind of guy, I don't view this as a problem really, getting very little visible vapor, as long as I get well medicated. Which I most certainly do, with say 7-8 ghost pulls on green heat holding down the button for 8 seconds each time.

However, after doing two sesh mode cycles at this light heat, the unit is very very warm, like in a suspicious way, compared to my Linx Hypnos, which never gets too hot ever, even after 8-10 hits, while holding the power button until the 15second long auto shutoff.

I wouldn't say green gets too hot to touch after 1 sesh cycle, but after 3 back to back sesh cycles it's very very very hot, where 99% of people wouldn't want to hold it and would set it down immediately, and ask if there is something wrong with it, and if it's safe...

The PUFFCO+ is much worse, heat wise, at the two higher temps, as little as two back to back sesh cycles on blue make it painfully hot, while back to back white heat sesh cycles make the unit DROPPABLY HOT. Like if you did a third or fourth one, with that much heat close to that much lithium, I wouldn't feel safe. It's hot enough where you would actually burn your finger if you held it.

I also loved the quick release mouthpiece since we all check out atomizers routinely, but after being active with it, and having it come undone in my pocket countless times, they need to have that "final snap" be more secure so I don't have my dart' rubbing oil into my clothes, and getting lint on it.

Also, airflow volume thru the atomizer could be greater, I really don't enjoy my lungs feeling negative pressure while pulling.

So despite all those complaints that have come with a week's constant use.... I feel this pen will still be truly great once they fix a few things.

1. Solve Heat transfer issue, whether it be an atomizer or battery terminal issue.
2. More secure snap in for quick release mouthpiece
3. More airflow volume, flowing thru atomizer.
4. Add an extra temp setting for 325-330
5. Raise atomizer airholes even higher on chamber walls

The heat issue didn't bother me as much when I just used it solo, Monday and Tuesday. But after I shared it with friends, and did multiple sesh mode hits, it started burning their fingers, to the point where no one wanted to hold it for fear of it literally exploding in their hand (that mod pocket guy with the burned leg really stigmatized vapes, and PUFFCO needs to remedy this heat transfer problem ASAP). Please remedy this dangerously hot atomizer/battery temp, ASAP, PUFFCO !

Make it happen guys !

I can understand how a user wanting big clouds and wanting instant heating could hate this pen beyond hatred.

It gives light whispy hits, which I prefer to big visible clouds, on almost any heat setting, without using sesh mode, it's almost as if white sesh mode is the only setting which will produce a mildly acceptable hit to rig users. But then, it immediately gets so hot they can't touch it. So since I never use high heat, and prefer multiple combustionless 8-9 second draws on green heat, so for me alone this pen is good, hit wise.

The airflow could still be better/more free, and another slightly lower temp, for "Sativa effect" results would be welcome. Also making the quick release mouthpiece more secure is needed, mine came apart countless times in my pocket, despite having it fully screwed on and torqued, when taking it with on a hike/run. Pens are supposed to be portable, and durable, and this one had the dart rubbing oil all into the inside of my pocket. No Bueno.

But the heat issue is very very real sadly, and something they need to solve fast, especially given the media stigma about exploding /burning vapes in people's pockets. This thing could fry eggs on its housing, on blue or white in sesh mode, and I'm not exxaagerating. You cannot touch the atomizer walls or even the top of the battery without your fingers burning, after 2-3 cycles.

I think I read on Puffco's Instagram that extremely hot Puffco Plus units may be an indication of a defective one. Maybe you should contact their support.

I think try must have had to push it back since the first batch had lots of defective atomizers.

They have announced on social media that all defective units will need an upgraded atomizer.

Puffco plus is garbage. They are supposed to be sending out replacement carts sometime in the future. Don't waste your time or money at the moment

PUFFCO+ Replacement atomizers produce more visible vapor at low/med/hi heat than the first gen (not the greatest thing in the world)

I got my replacement atomizers and:

1. Airflow is immediately worse. No I didn't overload it (.03g), air just wouldn't move.

2. The outside of the atomizer casing didn't get insanely dangerously hot after a few hits. So that's good. Good job guys.

3. The flavor and airflow are not as good as the first "outside burning hot" atomizers. #preference

4. Get it right fellas! Move them airholes up the atomizer walls ! #fuckclogging

I purchased a puffco+ and it doesn't work.

It gets extremely hot and barely produces any vapor. The chambers get clogged up very easily and there doesn't seem to be a good way to clean it.

I've been speaking with their support via email and they want me to send back the pen so engineers can study it.

LOL what?! This is beyond absurd. Shouldn't they send a new pen out first and then study defects? Or better yet do their studying before they launch their product?

SAVE YOURSELVES THE MONEY AND HEADACHE!

Oh and BTW, they monitor their Instagram for people leaving negative feedback about their product. They either delete the post or block user.

Also there is posts of their ceo on Reddit replying to threads from fake user names.

I just received my replacement coils and I'm getting huge clouds even on green. I was getting the same results with the original coils but with the heat issue. That coil did eventually clog SEVERELY and became useless to me.

After a lot of back and forth with Puffco, they helped me to get my pen up and running properly.

I wish this thing rolled out with no issues because I must say when it works correctly, it is phenomenal. It is truly worth the money.

Thanks again to puffco for helping me out and for making such an awesome product!

Just got mine today from a LHS and besides the Herc, this has the best flavor from any portable I've tried. Not always huge clouds, but I've had no problem getting properly medicated off of it.

Yeah that was my experience as well, I hope any updated version of the PUFFCO+, features:

1. 4-5 temps with some lower options which serve two purposes:
---a. more battery life since using less power
---b. Less visible vapor on lowest setting so zero carcinogens/benzene, And less coughing.

2. Move the airflow holes UP the atomizer walls, which serve two purposes:
---a. allow us to load bigger loads.
---b. Results in less clogging of airflow for irresponsible people who hit it laterally or store it laterally while cooling down

In PUFFCO+ current form, it's still a top two concentrate pen in the world, with the Linx Hypnos Zero. Kandypens Gravity a solid third, but still has atomizer floor leakage from deliciously terpy concentrates.

...so I did two thihgs, and am getting better results with both, albeit incrementally.

First, I carefully drilled a tiny hole in the upper side of the exterior brass atomizer housing. To allow air to flow directly into the back of the ceramic cup's holes from it. The high hole was up by the cuff that precedes the threaded area, and it didn't help all that much with airflow, but did def help some.

Then I drilled another hole on the other side, lower down, say maybe 1.5mm lower than the first hole.

This middle hole helped quite a bit more, and so I GOT NICE immediately with several semi-free-flow hits, and then decided to go for the 4-hole cross-pattern, like the air intake on the Linx Hypnos.

So I lined it up, so I Could see both outside holes, and drilled the 3rd side, another 1.0mm lower still, but f#@ked around and split the damn ceramic cup all apart by stabbing that b!tch with the drill, shattering, or should I say splintering directly thru the side of the floor area with the heating element, which the drill ripped off as it destoryed the delicate ceramic cup.

So I know that these side atomizer airholes help airflow tremendously, but rather than destroy another atomizer (I had six), I decide to try another variable before proceeding:

Round2, fight:
I drill a bud hole in it, and I'll say, even using the OEM UN-drilled atomizers, these more freeflowing hits with the budhole are much better.

When I hold the button for a mere 5seconds but inhale for a full 10-12, these hits are now very palatable and comfortable. Both flavor wise, and temp wise. But also in terms of the pulling action. The mouth and lung comfort as well as the level of oxygen you can take in, makes the entire small hit just flat out more chill and more delicious.

5secs on green, and hitting another 5secs as the live resin is cooling back down, allows me to:

1. Get nicely medicated without too many hits. On a very cool temp, with no carcinogens or discomfort at all. All flavor ..... On the way Up and the way down.

2. Taste every terp in this Tangerine Haze. Tastes like a sweeter more floral version of the palest Limey Durban Pheno x Jacks Cleaner

I finally like this pen!

1st high hole helped some:

2nd hole helped a lot:

3rd hole too low broke inner ceramic cup with drill bit

I think PUFFCO instituting four larger diameter holes, in the battery post coming from the bottom of the atomizer, where they currently have two small diameter holes, would solve lots of clogging problems, and having the four square side cut-out channels currently at the base of the atomizer housing, to be slightly taller, would help airflow a great deal.

The lack of free airflow on this pen as is, is very uncomfortable, and makes Long hits unpleasant.

If those few fixes, don't completely open the pen's airflow up, then I would recommend also adding at least two of the exterior holes at the level of the second hole I drilled. On opposite sides of the atomizer. But possibly four in a cross pattern like the Linx Hypnos zero, which maintains excellent airflow unless overfilled.

Finally, if needed, a carb hole on the mouthpiece section itself helps a lot, and I've made that on mine:

This coil-free cup atomizer has the potential to be the greatest pen on the market, but still needs a few tweaks to its airflow. Thanks for innovating PUFFCO !

I may need to try that out on one of my atty's once I actually get my hands on a few extras :doh: I have enjoyed using TC with the Puffco+ atomizer. It only works with certain 510 to ego attachments though...

Could you elaborate on your setup and what setting or tcr value you are using for temp control?

I bought the plus about a month ago and it is all I use for a portable now. This tops all other pens and attys on the market that I have used when it comes to cloud, flavor, efficiency and ease of cleaning.

In terms of cleaning this is by far the easiest to clean of everything I have tried ( which is most on the market) with exception to the source nail atomizers that look like cups, I have never used those but I imagine they clean just as easy.

On top of that I am still on my first atty and it seems to be going strong which impresses the hell out of me.

Id love to see one of these torn down so I could see what is in it, I have been waiting for my first one to fail so I can do a tear-down. Has anyone had a chance to break one apart yet?

Haven't torn one apart yet as my first two are still going string with no hit on taste whatsoever. I am using it on a Hohm Wrecker and it does TC on its own somehow and is fairly accurate with different kinds of wires. I would say Ni mode is the one that works on my rx200 but I can't remember for sure. Also, not sure what the TCR would be as I always used the preset modes on both mods. The 510 to ego adapter I use has a gold connector pin in it and any adapter without doesn't seem to work for whatever reason. I'll post pics when I can later.

Wait your using a mod to power yout puffco plus coils ? Do you get better performance that way . I would just worry about damaging the heating element . I love my plus to though . Like you i own one of most everything on the market and i agree that the plus is in a new level . Even with the other coiless ceramic cups like source has . I think they suck i have 3 full kits . Sources cups on top of doughnut coils was a good thought but i get really inconsistent performance with them also they are a bit unreliable .

I have not heard anyhing good about the source atty's. I do use my Plus atty on a box mod with the lowest wattage setting possible which is 10 on my mod in TC mode. Works great!!! I have consistently good flavor and I love it so much more than other pens.

Yeah that sounds crazy to put a plus coil on a TC mod box! But I'd love to hear more!
