My girlfriend needs one for when I (his doctor...) am not there with my PAX2.

What does matter:
- for dry herbs
- ease of use
- very small dose
- low temperature settings (below 180°C)

What doesn't matter:
- taste
- clouds
- concentrates

Hints..? thanks!

I suggest the Arizer's Solo. It's easy to use and clean and does a great job of giving great flavor. You don't need a lot of cannabis to get the job done. There are no small parts to worry about or clean. You clean mainly clean the stems with ISO.

The Arizer Air is good too but you don't have a wide range of tempretures. The Air is more stealth than the Solo so if discreetness is the issue the Air would be better. I have both vaporizers and I grab for the Solo more often when I need to be cord free.

The Solo has a battery that lasts for an hour in the beginning. My Solo is 2 years old and my battery lasts an hour or a little more. The Air uses user replaceable batteries. The Solo battery can be changed out by the owner and replaced by another. So both units will last the owner a long time.

Both units can be used with a water tool if you need that for a more cooled off vapor. Planetvape also has a lot of different mouthpiece accessiries and GonGs.

Read through a few pages of each vaporizer that you are interested in. Remember you want a unit that will last you a long time. Some vaporizers turn into throw always after a while, not so the either the Solo or the Air.

I agree about the Solo. It's the first vape I bought and still works well. There's little to break and simple to use. You can vape while it's charging and it keeps its charge when not in use. None of my other vapes seem to do that.
Another vape I would recommend is the Haze 3. It uses replaceable batteries and is also simple to use. I fill both compartments at a time and am able to use it 2 different times without refilling. It also comes with a 10 year warranty and the customer service is great. I think it's slightly better for micro dosing than the solo because the compartments are small and can be filled a tiny amount.
Finally the new boundless vapes would fit the criteria but they are very new and if there are any problems they need to be worked out.
Otherwise I'd recommend skipping flowermate. There are some good butanes but it doesn't sound like that's what your looking for. The dynavap is the simplest.

Thanks girls. We looked together some vaporizers... she is a difficult one I must say (well, like me!). And she ONLY likes the MFLB. And not a random one... the Star Knot.

In that case, no temperature control then... but in terms of ease of use..? Considering that she needs a very little dose and performance seems to be not as relevant?

There's definitely a learning curve with the MFLB, but it will certainly get the job done. Does she need to use it when she's out and about or could she plug it in? The power adapter let's you dial in your temperature, and more importantly frees you from all the battery issues. Throw in the Orbiter or some other cheap glass and it all works very well for one or two folks. I have better now (Firefly), but it's not like I was suffering before...

If that's what she wants then that's it. I had one and as simple as it seems it was actually more complicated to me than the solo which does use small doses and requires no learning curve.. It is more attractive though. (Did she look at the firewood?) I also strongly recommend that you get the orbiter to use with it because it can be harsh and water helps that.

The MFLB is practically designed for a very low dose. It comes with a stem, but I prefer hitting it native, right on the box. Once she establishes the right inhalation technique for her, she should be fine. Good luck.

I would say the firefly2 if price is no object (although I have no idea about temps). Otherwise I agree Air/Solo

Not a problem I guess... since she doesn't need a "on the fly" medication. Against migraine, vapor seems to work even if the attack is already begun.

If that's what she wants then that's it
;)

Did she look at the firewood?
I LIKE IT... And I think it could be my next vaporizer... but maybe not her first...
Edit-> I meant the Apollo... but the Firewood seems a good (and cheap) one anyway.

I also strongly recommend that you get the orbiter to use with it because it can be harsh and water helps that.
Harshness could be an issue for her... that's sure.

Well, the price is a concern, but only because she needs medication once a week only...

Thank you all. So I think I have 2 options:
1- buying a "cheap" vaporizer exclusively for her
2- buying a nice convection vaporizer for me, and let the PAX2 loaded & ready for her when I'm out at work

Vote solo again.
But I will look again at the Solo since it's so recommended...

@ander I just got a mflb a week ago. I like it, but it does have a learning curve and probably is a bit harsher than the Solo/Air. It actually makes me a want a Solo/Air more now. As someone who doesn't own a Solo but does own a MFLB, I would recommend it over the MFLB for a beginner or someone who is sick and first and foremost wants to medicate. It's just easier. Trust us on this one.

I do like the MFLB though. It's fun like a toy and it's effective, but it takes technique, and pre-prepping your weed (must be air dried, must be fine ground, now I have to clean another container...) it's just a lot more finnicky. You have to shake the MFLB after every hit, insert and remove the battery (if you remove the pushback ring), or push in if you don't remove it (it makes a mark on your hand it and is kind of painful), it get's bits of herb caught between the acrylic cover and the top of the the wood when you do that. You might even drop bits of herb around you. With the Solo or Air you just put the herb in the chamber and you don't have to shake it, you won't drop any bit's of vaped herb around you, it will be smoother vapor (because of the longer draw stem.), and will require no real draw technique like you need with the MFLB.

Post by post... you are leading me near an Arizer, guys...
We live in Europe, and an Arizer (conduction, right?) will be a handy purchase from VapoShop. If I'm not wrong, the Firewood (convection, right?) is sold in US only... and this could be a problem in terms of assistance. And I'm anyway fascinated by the Finnish Apollo...

Since the PAX2 does the job very well with her, I must definitely understand if I'm searching a new vaporizer for myself or for her..! :hmm:

The Solo's battery in the beginning lasts longer than 2 hours. I made a mistake up above saying it lasted an hour. My 2 year old Solo's battery lasts an hour.

I was rereading my post and wanted to fix that.

I started vaping with the MFLB and loved it. Still do. We used to go everywhere together due to its small size and replaceable battery. It does have a learning curve though and can com-bust. The batteries are a pain but you can get the PA for around the house.

Once I mastered the MFLB and fell in love with vaping I did extensive research and bought the Solo. The Solo quickly became my daily driver (and still is) and the MFLB became my out and about vape.

The MFLB causes me to cough sometimes but the Solo doesn't and the Solo, IMO, is way smoother and better tasting.

Go with the Solo - it's inexpensive, won't com-bust, built like a tank and really easy to use. It's also really easy on the herb and very versatile. It works so well and is so easy to use you may want to accessorize it later and there are inexpensive options there as well.

I'm going completely off topic I know..! but if we forget about portability... with 15$ more... what about an Extreme Q? I found this feature great:
"Precise digital temperature controls are adjustable in 1-degree Celsius increments with a full temperature range of 50° C - 260° C (122° F - 500° F)"

@ander, I was in the same boat recently. My wife needs a vaporizer with relatively uncomplicated controls, as she just doesn't care to figure out anything complex. But, more importantly, it must require no technique with regard to draw strength, speed, length, etc. Considering this, I purchased a Boundless CFX. Admittedly, price came into play as well (I paid $160)

@little maggie mentioned the fact that the CFX is rather new, therefore not fully tested in the real world, so there is that. I've had mine only 4 days, so I don't have much to go on, but I can say that it's very easy to use. Proof of that is my wife likes it and doesn't need me coaching her every time she vapes.

If you're willing to spend more, you could go with a Mighty (about $400), but I was a bit leery about the seemingly high rate of failures (a friend is on his 5th unit in about 15 months). It could be, however, that they've improved upon it recently, as some have reported receiving a newer version.

Oh, and you'll notice I mentioned only portables. That's because I don't see a need for another plugin; it ties one to a particular location (we're both just too restless for that), and I have one I'm happy with anyway. Besides, it's great to have a portable to take to bed at night, just in case we wake up and can't get back to sleep.

Just like everyone else- I fell in love with my MFLB- and after a couple months I got the Solo, which became the daily driver. The taste for me is a big plus, as it's unique; when you're hitting it there's some convection, but when it's sitting it's still conducting a bit of heat, and I personally find the balance between the 2 to be perfect :2c:

The EQ is awesome too- great for lazy bags or whip hits with fan assistance. The temp control on it isn't the best in my experience, but it IS consistent, so you should be able to find a good temp range fairly easily.
One thing about the EQ though is that to really maximize the performance without becoming a fiddly tinkering lunatic (basically where i'm at), you'd want to pick up or piece together a DDave kit.. (basically shortens the path from the heater to the chamber/bowl and takes constriction out while at the same time making the bowl smaller and more manageable)

Personally I'm all about the Solo, it's just such a solid stepping stone, and can open the door to realizing what else you might want from your vape/vapor..
Careful you don't catch the VAS, it's contagious around here!

I'd steer clear of a desktop at this point since the unit is for your girlfriend and being able to use it anywhere, easily and without you could become a consideration at some point. This way she also has some flexibility on where she wants to use the unit without unplugging and setting it up and can do it at a moment's notice. Another reason I suggest the Solo .....It hits really well (I'd be curious how you might compare it to the PAX.....but the long, powerful battery and battery life (as @CarolKing mentioned above) means if your girlfriend wants to keep it on her nightstand because she feels like a migraine may be coming, or wants to watch some T.V. or take a sip or two while gardening or asks you to get it for her because the migraine has kicked in ..... it'll be no problem.

If you are considering something for you, check out the CF (I have both the CF and CFX and both are fine) and the Milaana which is my new love and totally brainless. My "old" favorites are the solo and the haze which no one has mentioned yet. It has a 10 year warranty and incredible customer service with Scott being on the Haze thread to help out. I also love my logs- especially my UD for simplicty but have been sticking with the Milaana right now.

I haven't wanted the mighty but several CFX users have said they are similar.
