Discontinued The Grasshopper

Hi BassVaper,

Geez, I don't know which scenario is worse: endlessly yearning to receive a Grasshopper, or playing taps for your sixth (6th !) dead Grasshopper. Look on the bright side. Grasshoppers are a great source of protein, and might be able to keep you alive for a few days, I dunno.

Lmao! I've tried the Grasshopper idk about a grasshopper though.

Nothing yet @Vapetrees , hoping to hear back at some point today. I'll keep you posted! I thought I was the first one with a story of the Hopper combusting material, but then I saw that @FizzNuggets went through the exact same thing.

Btw Fizz, I tried just leaving it on for 30+ seconds to see if it would eventually turn blue, but instead it just shut off automatically. Hopefully Hopper Labs services this quickly because I miss my portable around the house vape.

Have they even offered to pay the shipping?

No. I haven't asked though, to be fair.

They did replace a dented mouthpiece for me (free) when I asked the last time. That's the extent of what "they've done for me" for all the issues. Which is fine, they didn't have to do that really. I'm not looking for free shit, the only thing I really want is for them to send me one right away, instead of me having to send the defect in and wait for them to turn it around. They've done that for me ONCE so far. Once.

People/Businesses don't seem to view customers as much of a value these days.

Kief is great as a topper in the hopper. I picked up a pollen press and have been putting my homemade hash in it. Works great.

pollen press is awesome thing! i collect kief from grinder, putting it in and pressing for 24 hours. then i chop it up in smaller pieces with a knife. i vape it sandwiched between herb. don't like putting it in cotton ball. can feel some not so nice taste. better i use cigarette rolling paper then if out of herb. pressed kief is a master blaster for sure

@Gandalf Cool man let me know. I just heard back from them after not getting a reply for two days, even though our conversations were going back and forth and then NOTHING. I'm just glad I was told it's on its way since it was going to ship out on Friday but didn't.

@Bass Vaper It wouldn't hurt to ask, especially since you've spent a lot of money on shipping it to them. I hope you get a working one and not have to send it in anymore. Good luck man, it is an awesome vaporizer and idk being without one in the near future. I just wish they were more reliable. I have a Ti that's been trouble free, so here's to hoping they the issues ironed out.

#6 Hopper died yesterday. Blue lights come on immediately after pressing the on button, no heat. Just a click and right to blue. Nothing new here though, prob another bad body like the last one, or two...

I feel thankful, fortunate, & honored to have had almost a full working month with this 6th, game changing, revolutionary device. Oh boy!

Cue 'Taps'...
Jeez f...ing crist! 6th!!!!
have you tested your bio-energy levels, man? some people who can heel others with their hands tend to brake mechanical things in them. this is not a dung of a male cow. i know one healer myself. he can't use any silver or gold things. they just crumble apart. maybe same shit happens with titanium in your hand?

just my crazy theory. but 6 broken Hoppers seems to be very suspicious. to be just a coincidence or bad luck.

thanks for nice and artistic pictures!

two things caught my eye. fingerprints are very visible on colored Hopper :\ and that clip is very contrasting with the body. should be in same color, IMO.

keep hopping, man! i and many others will keep waiting for those bloody estimates :bang:
Hey, thanks - I'm really pleased you liked the pics!

Yeah, if my hands are a bit sweaty then marks will show up on my blue Hopper, but I rarely notice it because they generally seem to disappear very fast. Else, just give it a wipe on your shirt or with a soft cloth & it quickly & easily looks like new. No hassle.

And yep, maybe it would look nice if the clip was blue - but I think that whole discussion happened at length, quite some time ago. So it is what it is, and I rather like it now, anyway.

But tbh, I doubt you'll even give a shit once you've got one in your hand :2c: :ko:

This is a gorgeous image.

If you'd like to assure ownership rights, here's a method from years ago in the music biz. It's likely still valid.
If you had an original song or piece of music on cassette or other media (or printout of art...). Mail it to yourself with a note enclosed saying it's 'yours', certified (registered) mail, and do not open the envelope when it arrives. If there is ever any question of ownership, you will have a dated record.

Or is it just a preset on yer iphone? ;)
Hehehe! Thank you! I'm pleased you liked that pic! But it was only just a bit of fun with a couple of custom filters & the like.

And yeah! I've heard that copyright protection trick before - but I honestly thought that it must be a bit of an urban myth, as it's not that hard to open & reseal an envelope without leaving any evidence to show that it's been previously tampered with! :myday:

Anyway, I'm just glad you liked my fun little acid-trip Hopper pic!

Hi VegNVape,

Wow ! , that is one magnificent post, sir. Beautiful pictures, and just the right tone and flavor for the commentary. Nice. Thanx !

ps: I just checked my account for any news/updates for my titanium Grasshopper pre-order. It says that it is scheduled to ship March 2016. I can hardly wait.

:myday:
WOW! - Right back at you, brother! :D Thank you for your kind words! They are truly appreciated, and I'm really pleased that you enjoyed the post. I had fun putting it together & I hope it helps to give people another perspective of what the Hopper is like.

I've got my fingers crossed for each & every one of you who is still waiting.

May your Hoppers soon be with you . . .

MuchLove.

My Grasshopper combusted last night...

Didn't do anything unusual, just turned it on at temp level 4 and within a couple seconds of inhaling, I heard a spark and could immediately tell the herb had combusted. Wasn't pleasant at all. Took me completely by surprise and tasted awful. Turned off the Hopper right away and emptied it out, and of course the chamber was full of ash.

Now, when I click it on, the lights turn red and the unit seems to start heating up, but it never turns to blue. It's like the heater got blown out or something.

So back to Hopper Labs it goes. I already emailed Caroline and I'm hoping to get a response back soon.

So after saying such nice things about my Hopper the other day I had the exact same thing as @Gandalf last night.

I turned unit on in the usual way but it stayed red. Changed batt turned on/off a few more times eventually it turned blue but seemed to take a lot longer 30 secs or so. After 2 draws the material began to combust = bad bonfire smell / ash and carbonised material in the chamber :( :( :( Sent the unit back to Vapefiend for inspection today they were v quick to respond and their service has been very good so far.

Will check back in once I have any news from them.

It is a great shame as the Hopper has been a faithful companion these last 4 weeks - luckily I had a brand new Mighty fresh out the box as a backup which has softened the blow somewhat!

Although I prefer the GH all round I immediately noticed a lot less draw
resistance (depends on how you pack the GH though admittedly) and not to mention cooler (slightly less tasty) vapour, superior battery life and also the easier to load/unload factor in favour of the Mighty.

I guess though ultimately design-wise the Mighty cannot come close and that's the real beauty of the Hopper!

Amen!

Cloudy...
Am I the only one that founds the vapor really hot/harsh for my throat/lungs? Every time I use my Ti without a water attachment for a few days, my throat and/or lungs become really sore and it affects my bronchitis and I have to start using my asthma puffers...

This never happened to me with other vaporizers, it's so bad that I'm starting to think I'm gonna sell my unit :(

It is a bit harsh on the higher temps, I agree. I stick between 3-4 if I'm using it dry. It still extracts extremely well, and 1 pack lasts quite a while.

@b0 Maybe you should stick to the lower temperatures and not draw on it too hard. If you draw really hard I can see why you would find it harsh. I like to use it at the higher temperatures native because it reminds me of the good old combustion days.

I'm a pro tuba player, so breathing basically is part of my job. I'm extra sensitive to heat...somehow smoked cigs for 20+ years (i quit 3 years & 174 days ago)...have seasonal allergies with asthma-like symptoms so I keep an albuterol inhaler nearby...and nowadays I do everything I can to protect my lungs/career. All that being said, I just can't recommend the crafty cooling unit/firewood mouthpiece hack enough. I take it everywhere that I use the hopper out and about. It takes something like 95% of the heat away. Seriously...it's that good. The vapor is still dry, but, well all vaporizers tend to leave me with a dry feeling in my throat. It's MUCH better than dry+extremely hot.

And like others have said: if you don't chase clouds when using it native, and keep it below setting 3 it's a lot more manageable...but the cooling unit + ANY temp setting is pure heaven.

*Speaking of which: does anyone have a link for the glass mouthpiece for the crafty cooling unit? I haven't had any luck finding it. I think that will make it even better.

**At home I just run the hopper through water to hydrate it a bit.

Hello, all Grasshopper actual users,

From what I have gleaned thus far, it seems as though if you keep the dial at setting 3 or less, you get great flavor, less harshness, and full extraction without the use of either the silicone extender or a water tool. Yes ? ! ? ! Do tell.

It will extract it well, but there will still be more THC left because if you got to 4-5 it still produces vapor.

@tubasco www.vapefiend.co.uk has it I believe.

I have both. If your sister just takes a few hit a day, I'd say save the $50 and the SS as for a light user, since the flavor seems to last longerthe in the SS (this seems to be the conscensus on people who have noticed a difference, you're not going to have plenty of people tell you that "there is no difference, can't be, science etc) but I've been having to say IATOADASO a bunch on this thread, so if you're asking because you're a assuming (correctly) there is a difference, trust the people who have the experience and judge which experience you think is better for your sister.

The Ti (my daily driver) is more for a cannasuer and heavy user. The terps and cannabinoids extract faster meaning in my opinion, truer more complex flavor but the downside is fewer hits (This phenomenon may be a result of the SS cooling slower as well, allowing oils to congeal back on to the flower, but I don't know, just a simple country lobbyist, not a scientist and clearly this device is some kind of alchemy anyway ;-). Since I consume a fair bit, I don't mind changing the bowl more regularly to get great flavor.

The Ti also feels better in my hand, that's subjective, some like the extra weight of the SS and that makes sense to me, just a preference.

Can't go wrong either way, I prefer the Ti myself but I could see some preferring the SS.

Hey mate.
Much thanks!

From what you're saying, my sis should get the SS since its cheaper and offer as good as the Ti experience...

Well if there's more extract in the Ti, then no wonder there are less hits...
I myself prefer the "sleek" feel and looks of the Ti...but the less hits in a major drawback.

Only thing left in the decision...is durability, is it the same?

it depends how you vape. if you like sessions then Arizer Solo/Air is right for you. Hopper is beast which should be used for milkin' up bong hits. using Hopper for sessions is like to by a Lamborghini for going shopping.

Well...does that mean you put the cloud evo in the milking sections? because I loved my solo and love my cloud evo...

GH is for a my sis, she needs stealth, this seems to hit the spot.

All of you guys that are having trouble with the GH have you at least tried the tips that vapefiend gives in a pretty recent review that has made?

With tears and much deliberation, I finally cancelled my gh pre-order. Maybe I'll revisit this innovative device next year. For now, my grasshopper money can be useful somewhere else.

Wow.. Brave move this one is!! I don't know whether I should tell you well done or not... I'm still too eager to give up my hopes on this blissful vaporizer!!

Update on my broken Hopper:

Caroline emailed me back yesterday just to tell me to resubmit my warranty request via the Warranty Request form on the site with my serial number and box ID number. Even though I emailed all of the pertinent information directly to support, apparently this information could not be simply forwarded to the warranty people, so I had to copy and paste the exact same email I sent out originally and just submit it via the website form.

I did this within 2 minutes of getting Caroline's email, and now I'm in the waiting phase again... Hopefully I hear something back today.
