Can't believe I ever lived without an EQ......
I love the lower temp options. But for lower temp herbs in my setup, I just stack another bowl and wand setup on my 200c bowl and go full convection. Usually while the main bowl is preheating. :nod:
BTW,@Oldvape53 are rhodiola and ashwagandha root powders local?
Sorry @MinnBobber. Haven't tried straight teas. But not unheard of. Green teas might be more vapable than dark but IDK. :shrug:

If you are getting into straight up dried tea, that's better than 'mersh.' as far as essential oils I figure. Any 'mersh' teas might have something to keep it dry I'm guessing plus no dated shelve life. Local mints have more vitality than say ones sitting in a tin.

Actually started using a UFO style saucer morter and pestal. Does the job! Or the shotglass and scissors trick for other odd textured things like dried lemongrass.

I just wish I could find out the effects/benefits: I think you get the tea caffeine buzz. I don't know if you get the many "preventative benefits" that you get from drinking tea????? That's what I'm most curious about

EDIT: I'm not sure if my teas are Sativas or Indicas ;)

So i have two herbs that my friend gave me but i cant find at what temperature to vape them at. My friend only drinks it as tea, so she doesn't know. Hence i come here :D

First horny goats weed, I'm somewhat to believe this is a myth anyway, but since i have it, i wanne try it out. Does anyone used this and knows what temperature it should be at?

Then skullcap.. I thought a lot of people used this to vape. But i cant seem to find the information im looking for. Do i mix it with my weed? Or do i vape it before or after weed? And does anyone have a recommended temperature? at 170c / 338f it just doesn't look vaped. But i also don't wanne burn the stuff down..

And my last question for today is, did anyone vape lavender? I am afraid the smell/taste will stick to my vaporizer for a long time and I'm really not sure if i like the taste of it.

I tried out Valerian roots, i put 1 - 3 sticks in my vape, together with either hop or weed.
Depending on the size of the stick / root and how much i think i need it at that moment.
It makes me very calm, i get more of a body high and i sleep wonderfully.
I set my vape at my normal 184c/363f mostly because i can mix it with other stuff then.

I really prefer to mix stuff, although i sometimes start to miss the pure weed taste.
But that lasted for only a few tokes anyway. When i mix, the flavor stays longer.
There is more smoke/vape visible, which for me means i toke longer and the substance turns more brown then when i just put weed in there. Which is nice, cause i like to get as much out of it as possible.

After vaping hop for a little over a week, i forgot to add it yesterday to my last bowl.
At 4 in the night i was still awake trying to figure out what was wrong and i went for a smoke.
Then i noticed the hop wasn't on my desk, and hence i didn't add it. After vaping some i finally got some sleep. Its interesting. I have been having sleep problems for as long as i remember. I was 8 when i first got melatonin from the hospital (back then you couldn't just buy that everywhere) but it never really did the trick for me. But now with the hops, wauw.. Best sleeps ever! I highly recommend this to anyone having trouble sleeping.

ps. With my VapirRise 2.0 i love love love the big bowl. When looking to buy a vaporizer that was the one thing i really disliked about the Vapir. The big ass bowl. I was like with the amount of weed i put in there its overkill, to have such a huge bowl. But now that i mix all other stuff with it, its just perfect. Especially the hop, since the flower leaves are quit big and this way i don't have to grind it at all :D

pps. Valerian root is family of catnip. My cats tried to chew open the bag. If they eat to much of it, it might be dangerous. So if you have cats (or kids) keep that stuff locked away ;)

People are finding and considering others herbs and plants that are less familiar too me. Which makes me more curious about the topic as a whole.
I can ask for the tea benefits for y'all from a few students studying the subject matter once I get a short list together. If you have a local co-op, there may be someone eager to inform you of the health benefits of what you are seeking. Or even general plant knowledge. For that matter. Anyway, Thanks for the posts all around!:clap:

Webmd is a source that keeps coming up when I google a plant or herb. If you are coming up empty when scouring the web for info.

Generally with mixing plants to vape, I consider the temps of each herb. Weed usually needs higher temps for extraction than thinner materials such as leaves as an example. Just a consideration. Some stack what they have with their vape so one material doesn't scorch before the other material barley catches.

Having a large bowl saves with the grinding. :nod: I have been using my morter and pestal to break things to a consistency and help release some oils. But most of the things mentioned on this thread can work at lower temps and less critical towards extraction. I make tea out of my vaped flowers and herbs. So no waste, no worries.

Found some dried sage. Already like sage, but I guess it is more minty than savory when vaped. :p

Trying to find herbs to vaporize that I like that bugs hate. Lemongrass already a candidate. Might be able to make some sort of bug repellent with some sort of side health benefits. Can anybody recommend some plants? Don't feel like waiting for bug season this year. Now that I can extract with the EQ. And possibly combines two vapors. More about that project on the EQ thread.

Very interesting! I might try this, since i have had lots of allergic reactions to mosquitoes in the past.
I think that last video gives you lots of options! You could try mix them together (if that works with the temperatures and taste. If it smells bad together, it probably also tastes bad together) Does the EQ also have a aromapot? You could just set it up to have the room smell nice than, if you dont want to inhale. But you could safely inhale; Basil, catnip (valerian is family of catnip will make you very tired), citronella, lemon grass, lemonbalm, lavender, eucalyptus, lemon thyme (although thyme is very fine so your vaporizer might not like that) Mint and Peppermint.

I've read of some getting a caffeine like buzz vaping actual tea leaves. I will look into dried Thyme. I can get two distinct flavors from Dried sage depending how I vape it.

Yes extra whips, glass and adapters if applicable. My Claisen adapter is great for keeping my whips from getting dirty from trying everything. But with the convenience of mixing vapors.:brow: Certain plants leave heavy oils when vaped and can make a portable keep that undesirable smell when vaping something else. Like the heavy oils from chamomile flowers.

Most herbs require lower temps, so a less powerful vape or a vape that can work at low temps like my EQ is effective as a power vape. Nice when I want to use my claisen on top of my water piece.:peace:

I'm curious about them myself. Seeing dry herbs that are new to me and the other things If i have anything to add, I'll gladly post it here.

The weather here is schizo. Warm breezes, then snow, Ice hail then balmy shirt sleeve weather. Well My cold virus found a habitual zone to incubate. AKA the travailing cold.
Been using a few drop of eucalyptus essential oil to a boiling pot of water and wrap a towel over my head. I like it way better than the commercial Vick. Eucalyptus already seems sweet and syrupy on it's own.

Echinachia seems better at sweating out a cold before it takes hold. Any thoughts on that? LSS if anybody can rec'd any cold remedy. I'm open. tx

Thanks, I can gather all that tomorrow. :tup:Just the oil alone has not only helped with the breathing, but seems to have paused those annoying body aches from having a cold. The hot steam doesn't feel as harsh either.
I'm guessing vaping in general might not be advisable with a sore throat and a traveling cold.

@draakjeszijnlief Bought your ingredient list a second time. The first time out, It really helped me from rough coughing. I could get more descriptive, :zombie: But it seemed to work differently than water and Eucalyptus oil alone. :nod:

They have an interesting product line. If you have any blends/items in mind feel free to share and I'll give my 2 cents.:2c: Dried single teas that you blend might be one avenue. The drinking tea blend might have one or two things that aren't necessarily considered vapable. I'm curious about a lot more things myself after looking through their catalogue. Lot to take in. They have ordinary smoking pipes and incense related items. No mention of vaporizing.

You could also ask where they source something, purity and harvest questions if applicable. Few hours from me too. :brow: thanks for mentioning another source.:tup:Google maps will let you go into their store.

Hi guys, I have some doubts about Terpenes and boiling points... thanks in advance for your hints.
Let's say that I want to experiment interaction between Myrcene and THC, and this terpene has a boiling point of 168 °C (334 °F). So I must reach at least 168°C to release it... Oils are not soluble in water... so it cannot be done with a tisane, for example...
In short, vaporize the herb (hops, for example) is the only way to release it? If this is the way to go, how much hops should I vaporize to release a "functional dose" of Myrcene??? So what about the rumor that simply eating a ripe mango before smoking would get you higher? Maybe a... fried mango!?

tbh i have no clues about Mycrene.
And i think how much you need to vape depends on the person very much.
Same as how much weed you vape, if that makes sense.
For me, i vape hops a lot. Because i can get it cheap i just fill
the bowl with a bit of weed at the bottom (0.02 - 0.05 grams)
and then i fill rest of the bowl until 3/4 with hops.

When i just got my hop i could just vape at 184 degrees without problems.
But now that i have had the hop for about 4 -5 months,
i noticed it gets burned often! I assume it just dried out more
then when i first got it. Hence i now vape it at around 170,
then dump out the hop and add some damiana or extra weed
and heat it till 184.

Its really trial and error. I have found that it's hard to make recipes
of different variety of herbs, because they all need a different temperature.
And even when it worked out when i just got the herbs, it no longer does.
If my hops burn, i can trow out my weed as well. Everything just tastes burned.

At the other hand i do believe that hops can also work in tea
or just under your pillow. But deluded with water or not direct inhalation
will not have the same strength of effect imho.
There are charts in this topic and online on which part of the plant to use,
what temp to vape them at and what effect it will give.
Hop makes me sleepy and relaxed. And i enjoy it a lot.

I guess that has been going around for some time. Mangos having high amounts Lysine. I've read that as an old hippie trick here at FC.:D

Lemongrass, lemon balm, German chamomile. lemongrass essential oil and various mints have some sort of effect/impact for me on their own. Freshness and dryness of the product is important
to it's potency. I've found.

Getting back to your discussion. Boiling points arn't directly indicative of effects either. There is some wide discussion (and opinions) on the matter.
Nice breakdown and categorization on the subject.:clap: I will use that as a reference instead of the chart that I've been linking posts too. If you keep adding more dry information and keep the more speculative stuff for say this thread, then it can be a solid reference on a topic than could use more depth to the subject matter. It's got my vote.

I've read about hops being quite effective. I'm GF so no hops for me.

With my EQ + mods there is consistency in temp to allow for more mixing. If you think more of the mass and density of any materials, then add all the other factors, then there is enough range to mix and stack to allow for recipes. Much like in cooking foods of differing properties.

Have a 3 mint, lemongrass, lemon balm, chamomile blend that I go to. I used scissors in a shotglass method to breakup everything coarse.

All that plus knowing what is local harvested and best time when available.:nod:

Went to my locally herb shop and got the 3 mint blend again plus some lemongrass. One of the mints in the blend -apple mint. :p
Locally grown peppermint sometimes available at the co-op. It is strong stuff as expected.

I have the Balancing Blues and Sweetly Calming blends. Very mild effects. Mostly calming but overridden by frustration over not knowing how to use my EQ :doh::bang:. Both have great taste and enjoyable to vape. They can also be made into teas which I want to try as I'm an avid tea drinker.
Saw your post over at the EQ thread too. BTW. @DDave has some good information and questions also. :nod:

If it is a loose tea, perhaps try to find a consistency the group can vape together with.:hmm:

I might try to grind/scissors cut everything at about the same consistency. Try elbow packing and preheating the EQ.
The EQ is great for lower temps and there is general recommended temps for any of the more vapable herbs. But YMMV and your grind and dryness may vary.

It won't cloud up in the same manner as denser materials depending on things like say water content. But you can find a temp range that the materials like. Generally on the lower end under 200c and some as low as 140C. Each material has it's own density. Like say a single Lemon balm leaf and a single Chamomile flower.

I also buy single teas and can blend them. Good luck.:peace:

@draakjeszijnlief if you can find a source for it, try Indian Warrior (pedicularis densiflora). Also try wild lettuce extract. Please pm me for a source recommendation here in the U.S. Wild lettuce extract can be very powerful, I have used it for migraine and it has served me very well. I have also used Indian Warrior, which acts as a muscle relaxer. It is tasty, and rather mild in its effects. Both of these herbs have a synergy with cannabis.......
