Whip Tubing - All Your Questions Answered!

From Vaporpedia (and page 1 of this thread) the VB tubing is 1/4 inch ID and 3/8 inch OD, I believe the MFLB silicone is the same at least I know the ID is 1/4 inch like the VB tubing.

None of the tubing listed is 5/8 inch ID but 5/16 which is half the size of 5/8 inch.

It's confusing as VaporWarehouse sells Vapor Bros tubing and their site says:
I think another vendor I found also listed is as 5/8" ID which is huge........

Yeah Like you said 5/8 ID seems huge for a whip. For sure someone in the vapor bros thread would know what size they offer now if you ask over there.

Has anyone added a whip extension to the plenty? I'm hoping to get one that I can connect to my bubbler. The bubbler is really small (smaller than my hand), so I was thinking that I'd be able to connect a more narrow whip tube into my bowl so I could draw from the bubbler.

I'm looking for roughly 12 feet of high quality whip tubing for my Vapir Rise 2 (3/16" ID x 5/16" OD) but i'm not quite sure what to get. What are everyone's thoughts on Tygon SPT 3350 Sanitary Silicone Tubing from www.usplastic.com? Has anyone used it recently? Think it's safe? Have any other suggestions?

I'm not familiar with the Vapir, but for the Arizer Q and other whip vapes, many here buy silicone tubing from Amazon. The important thing of course is that it be silicone and food/medical grade. Look for NSF 51, the standard. Heat tolerance is usually 500F. Here's a link to what I buy, except in your diameters. They have it in 10ft and 25ft lengths, it usually runs approx $1 a foot. (The U.S. Plastics tubing is fine, but typically a lot more expensive.)

I think that, as stated above, you should be concerned with heat rating of the tubing. Listing what "not to use" would be a pretty big list!
'Medical grade' and 'food grade' are always nice to see on product description, too. @oldiebutgoodie is giving some good advice just a couple of posts up from here!

Based on the perusing I did, looks like it would work.

I wonder though, do the Extreme Q utilize same size tubing as the Cloud EVO whip kits? I've been trying to find the sizing for that as its the only whip vape I have. I think I may take the plunge and get something the size of yours.

I suggest two items:
1. @Ratchett on this site runs Delta 3D Studios. He makes a silicone adapter (Song)which works for connecting a hydratube and just happens to work well for attaching a whip firmly to Herbie, which can then connect to a bubbler With it a whip is much more secure.

So here's one glass setup, from ratchett Song directly to hydratube:

If you like a bubbler better, I like the Song + the MFLB water hip (Magic Flight Launch Box).
It consists of the whip + a 14 mm male glass end that fits into a bubbler (and the glass also serves as a handy mouthpiece if you want a direct whip hit) + a nice wooden piece that serves as a hand hold.
Picture shows MFLB water whip connected to my miniVAP but you can see how it connects:
MFLB piece is approx $30 I think??

So, it depends on if you want hydratube style glass or bubbler style glass...

Is this whip just as "safe" as the whip that comes with the Herbalizer?

Can it handle the heat from the halogen bulb?

The MFLB Water Whip is too narrow to snap in directly into the Herbie chamber so needs an adapter.
The best connection is with the @Ratchett Herbie V2 Song. Solid connection and the MFLB can connect to a 14 mm bubbler (pictured below) OR the MFLB whip can be used as a direct draw whip with a nice wooden handhold and the 14 mm male glass end works very well as a mouthpiece.

There are cheaper ways to connect but this combo is the most solid and versatile.
Note that the Ratchett Song is also a great connector for a hydratube----a GREAT combo.

that bubbler is an 18 mm female joint as many are.
It has an adapter to make it a 14 mm female joint.

You need a 18 mm male to 14 mm female glass adapter.
Do you have a local headshop?
Or search the cheap Chinese glass sellers online

So I've been thinking about ways to help collect the resin. What about some sort of "trap" at one end of the tube?

Kind of like a moisture trap on a compressed air tools setup in the garage, to keep water out of the lines, but if there was a trap that wouldn't actually trap the vapor, just collect a majority of the thick resin.

Anyone have any ideas or have tried anything? I assume a piece of glass that maybe has some loops in it or something might collect the resin, rather than having it all inside the entire length of tube.

Yes, that bubbler in the pic has an 18 mm female joint.
The MFLB water whip ends in a 14 mm male joint.
The shorty glass piece on top of the bubbler is an 18 mm male to 14 mm female joint.

With that minor mod, the whip fits.
