These little stains are all over the lower part of the dab master and I'm curious as to if this might lead to corrosion or something.
My past sublimators haven't shown anything like this but I know little to nothing about the nature of metals.
Also does anyone question the staining of the threaded heating probe?
Thanks in advance for any input.

uh? tiny discoloration? maybe rust stating? I dunno I doubt the people at Sublimator would do anything about it.... lousy cs..... Just put some fat dabs thru it that will oil it up and no more rust....

I need some orig Sub screens anyone have some? I will get them from Canada if I have to but I also want to know my options.... I been using the orig...I know they are restrictive but at least they stay in... What are others using? I remember something about the iolite screen?

Their customer service is pathetic and it's a shame because they have a great product.
My uneducated opinion is these spots could lead to corrosion or rust and it would be foolish to heat rusted metal and suck it in to your lungs.

Won't rust only lead to more rust no matter how its oiled?

Thank you for your input Detonator

You can pretty much use any fine mesh screen and cut it to size. I take my original screen and use it as a template to cut out new screens. They work and fit better than the original screens because you can bend them a little. I also find them easier to clean with a quick scrape.

I was one of the last stock grille holdouts, and have tried many screen variations in my 1.x atomizer. The only one I will use anymore is the fine lotus screen from mendocino therapeutics. It goes in easily and securely, never pops out accidentally yet is easily removable, and is of high quality for long life.

Hi guys,

I posted in the XLR2.0 thread, but it looks a little dead.

Anywho, I received my Sublimator kit on Friday. I've been Sublimating over the weekend, and just had a couple of questions if I may?

I'm finding my ABV is very dark, after I take a hit. Most it's completely black or a very dark brown. I've had the Sublimator heater set to 6. Am I doing anything wrong? The videos I've seen on YouTube with people using the Sublimator, all of their ABV is a very light brown, or yellow color.

Also, typically how long did it take for the Sublimate/reclaim take to start building up? I sublimated around 20g of herb over the weekend, but the reclaim section is completely dry.

Overall, I'm a little underwhelmed. But I'm a heavy bong smoker, so I think it might take a week or two to adjust. I'm currently using more herb than I would in a bong to get a similar effect. Might try some shatter over the next couple of days :)

I wouldn't know the specifics to your model, I have the make-shift wonka-doodle-doo looking OG :), but have you tried turning the dial down ? Don't get hung up on numbers, my dial looks like a 20cent china light dimmer switch, no numbers or markings, had to do that ourselves with markers. Just turn it down if the roast is too much, and learn to take into account ambient temperature, which has an amazingly strong influence on 'thermal equilibrium'. I still use the sub almost everyday, for like, 3 years now? can't even remember properly :). To me it is still the closest you are gonna have a vape get to a bonghit: a more tasty, way more efficient hammer. As for the 'sublimate,' the OG has a longer downstem on the atomizer if I'm not mistaken, so maybe that is having an influence, nevertheless, it could be that your numbers aren't that far off of mine. It takes a long time for enough to build up, but once you get a drop, and don't clean it, you'll get a new drop sooner, and after the next sooner again. There comes a point, unfortunately, when you have to stop this process because it will increasingly influence flavor in a negative way, and the texture of the sublimate seems to make a downward spiral as well. Be patient, don't clean that bastard until you get at least one drop, and maybe someone else can chip in with regards to whether or not the shorter atomizer downstem influences sublimate buildup.

Good day

Thanks Jazzah, appreciate your help :)

I have the XLR2.0 version (with the Monkey controller), I also went for the Apollo titanium heater. I'll try putting the dial to it's lowest setting and see what happens. I'm wondering if my temperature controller is faulty and actually running at a higher value then what it's been set as.

I'll patient and wait for the Sublimate to appear :)

I use my XLR2.0 at 5 all the time and it works well. My AVB is a medium brown. I think everyone's controller and setup is slightly different.

I doubt a tiny particle of rust could get sucked past the sticky resin, but maybe it could ?

Yay, first drop of sublimate has appeared. I assume I treat it like wax/shatter, is it likely to be stronger than the herb used?

Really enjoying the Sub now. I've found that cranking the heat right down, and hitting harder has a much better effect.

So I somehow managed to hit combustion with my Sub last night. Very strange.

My routine with the Sub, is to have 3 hits each evening. I start off at 4 on dial, and just before I go to bed I use 6 on the dial. Last night, I took my last hit, I used quite a bit of herb.
Anywho, it took 3 big drags to clear this one. I finished up, emptied the bowl onto my desk and turned off the Sub. Got into bed, looked at where my Sub was, and saw a glowing orange ball.
I initially thought, "Hey I don't have anything that glows in the dark", before realising it was the AVB I had just vaped.

The weird thing is, I don't think it combusted whilst it was actually inside the Sublimator. I didn't taste any smoke whilst inhaling the hit, and when I initially emptied the bowl, there weren't any embers.

Needless to say, I'll be staying below 6 on the dial in future. But could I have done something wrong? I tend to hit the Sub hard 2-3 times hard, until no vapour appears. Should I stop sooner?

I usually do one-hitters so it's hard to say. One benefit of reaching combustion is now you know your setup's upper vaporization limit, so you can pull back; as you said below 6 on the dial from now on.

I turn my dial until TWO of the green LED's light up and it seems to male my ABV a nice orange all the time, I also do double deckers at this temperature and it works great. I have the titanium head model.

I also make brownies with about 1OZ of the ABV to a box of Duncan Heinz brownie mix and add a extra egg, use a 9x9 pan and cut into 9 pieces and you should get a nice buzz! Cook them at 260C for a longer time(about 2 hours) and NOT the temperature on the box.

Thanks, that's the exact setting I used when it combusted. Setting 4 or 5 seems the most optimal to use. Not sure how I'm going to do double deckers without combusting the herb though. Thanks also for the recipe, may have to give that a go. Be a while before I have an OZ of ABV though :)

Still patiently waiting for my first drop of Sublimate. I had a drop after my first couple of days of using the Sub, but it didn't hit the little chamber at the bottom of the base. It kinda stuck to the top of the base, where the atomizer sits, I had to clean it though as the atomizer kept getting stuck.

I will also agree with the sentiment that each controller seems to be a bit different. My XLR 2.0 Monkey Controller box happened to be one of the more properly calibrated ones from the factory so I am able to go all the way to 8 (full green) before danger of combustion. 9 (first red level) will ignite certain drier strains and is necessary for full extraction of more stubborn sticky strains. Then 10 and 11 are the ideal dab temps for me.

I've had this happen as well. Nothing wrong, you just found the very borderline of combustion on your particular unit. For mine it happens if I go a little too long on level 9. Same thing, I'll dump it, and a few seconds later it starts to glow and smolder. In my case it was a combination of the hot iolite screen (ignition source) being left on top of the dumped AVB and the richer oxygen environment (fuel) outside of the bowl.

What setting do you use for double deckers? I'm guessing it will be tricky for me to find the right setting, if herbs combust around 6.

Hi everyone. First time here. Just wanted to write my experience with trying to purchase a Sublimator from BV. I ordered in late Nov on their site where i was quoted in CAD. Even got a receipt from them in CAD. But then they sent a another separate receipt in USD via email which i did not see. I did see not the cost till i saw the credit bill. It went up almost $500! But I really like the product in question, so decided to continue with the purchase.

It is now Jan. I have not received my purchase yet and i just got a letter from them stating it will be at least another 4 weeks before they can send it. All they offered was a lousy $15 gizmo which i had no interest in. That it was it! I have paid almost 1500 CAD for something i have not received after 6 weeks. I canceled it and have a standing order with PV for the exact same product which i will be paying for in CAD at the same CAD price i was quoted on BV.

A Canadian company sells a Canadian product to Canadians using USD? This reeks of a money gouge especially with the money exchange. I will never do biz with BV or its affiliates. What got me was on their site, prices are in CAD! Very misleading. I feel this is a unethical business practice. Things will be tough for us Cancuks in the future, and we will see more BS like this in the future.

I have to make a correction as see now on there website it is more obvious they it is in USD. But i assure you it was not the case in Nov.

Their site is funny, I've put items in the "cart" with CAD prices, but when it comes to the final check-out I find out they want USD.

Forgive my ignorance, but what vendor is this "BV"?

:peace:

I'm guessing that's a typo. Planet Vape is the main online distributor of these units far as I know. So they probably meant PV not BV.

Thanks for this :)

Your double-decker temperature will be whatever setting comes closest to combusting your herbs but just begins to melt and vape wax as well. For my unit this is between 8-9. Sometimes if I'm quick enough dumping the bowl I can go up to 10, and that makes for one devastatingly hot and harsh hit with nearly black espresso powder for AVB lol

Set your unit as high as you normally set it and see if that will vaporize wax or the reclaimed sublimate. If it just kinda melts it without much vapor you'll definitely need to go higher.
