I've been to India and visited the Ghandi Museum in Delhi (and seen the films several times of course).

They are classic, you must watch them, it's a great film for watching the British get their arses whopped, and also a stark reminder of our sordid empire past!

I was thinking about that movie and that part of history a few months back. Asymmetrical warfare and a strange power struggle. When I think of Zulu I always think of the phrase "Keep Calm and fix bayonets." There is a documentary out there with details about the asymmetrical warfare part. The Zulus shields vs the English Muskets. Zulu war tactics. (It wasn't just a guerrilla raid.)

Back to the thread. Keif does take up less space than herb. I do save it special for my portable. When I go farther away from home on a hike, I don't want to fumble with packing and repacking so much. Works great in a conduction vape. Since my Summit has a wide temp range. (10 settings). Is there a recommended temp to vape Keif by?

Starting with a brand new clean grinder, does it takes months to build up anything worth harvesting?

No, I have a tub with my stash (the weed is still in the baggie it came in and then in a Tupperware tub).

I take some out and put that loose in a separate tub I keep my 'currently using' weed in ( I have a duplicate tub for my ABV).

When I want to vape I take a nugg or two from my tub, grind it up and then put that in the grinder compartment for ground herb, which I take pinches from for my session.

Is this bad practice, as I notice my 'currently using' tub is getting gunky around the lid edges and I'm starting to think this could be keif.

Am I loosing most of the trichomes (keif) in my tub before it's even making it to my grinder?

So many variables. Depends on how fine the screen is. What flowers you are getting. How fine is your grind? How much do you go through. How much is an amount worth harvesting to you? For me usually when Mary is gone. Or when I want to carry less somewhere. (Keif being lighter.) If you think of the Tri's as being grains of a certain size and shape. The screen being another. Whole threads here are dedicated to that subject.

For now I might stick to checking it once a week. Unless you intentionally want a really small amount for some reason. Otherwise, why overtax the threads on a new grinder? Also figure what method you plan to remove the grains with. My SCS had a plastic triangle that works quite well. I can get in the corners tight with it. Others use some form of brush, toothbrush, nylon brush. i would go with something gentle or wedged to push under like a scraper. Your grinder might even come with a tool or you have a preferred method.

I was told to store in glass for years. People have given me mason jars as presents. (I have scraped my mason jars before when desperate.) But there is some smellproof jars or others designed for gentle storage for that matter. Or perhaps you could keep your ready-ups in the 4pc? I've done that for travel. Grains fall directly into the bottom. No loss. Just thought of that.

Where? Despite all my pleading, my local coffee shop only sells coffee and biscotti. No dispensary to dispense either. In due time, in due time... Then bathhouse kolas!
I still would speak of KIEF if it was .50 a gram. Getting all the flower is more of the ying/yang of the plant and I can understand the argument why others choose not to grind and get the full essence of what they are vaping. But since in most cases, I'm going to grind for the best performance with my vape. I have however come up with a pinch method with my EQ, So I can vape tufts instead of shredded bits. The way it delivers, it feels like vaping a berry. If that makes any sense.

Field's of COLAS is very civilized.

KIEF is cheap and I pour it in my MASON JARS full of cut COLAS!

CANNABIS should be free!

@1DMF glass is the way, I use kilner jars..

Plastic bags are very bad, static attracts trichs...

Go buy some gu deserts (that come in little glass jars), and some pringles, the lids fit the gu jars.

This is what I use for current flowers.

You get some nice desert and some nice weed storage, all for less than a fiver.

We don't have that, and we have the EU to contend with, telling us what we can and can't buy. I know we have the web, but I'm old school and like to walk into a shop to buy stuff.

If only life could be as grand for others as @ataxian has it . Unfortunately where I live unless you seek to screen some kief the best you will get is the dust out of your coffee grinder or buy a 4 piece.

Can't say I disagree with fields of colas being civilized & weed being free for one & all. As for pouring kief into mason jars I should be so lucky. I use my little Air stir stick to scoop kief out of the glass jar I keep mine in.

Just opened my present from the wife (I asked for an MMJ Chromium Shredder)... the damn screen has a rip in it!

Oh well, luckily I also asked Santa for an Ed's TnT Purple Heart Solo wood stem and a 14mm-18mm WTA reducer

Things never look so bad when you have a fully loaded Ed's stem and a Solo in your hand

I will say the machining is good, the threads have a real nice action, and the logo on top is just as cool as it looked in the pictures, if it had been a simple paint chip, I could have let it slide, but a hole in the screen is a deal breaker.

Pain having to ship back across the pond for a replacement, but I'm going to wait for the replacement before I pass any critical judgement.

Levels are a little low at the moment as I've been dipping into it, I've only just restocked last week and I've been squashing a bit of bud instead of grinding it recently too.

@1DMF What a strange type of problem to arrive in the mail. What could possibly cause them to tear like that and go unnoticed? You are saying everything else is solid.
The screens in both my grinders are fairly durable. I actualy bear down on them sometimes. Since you've already inspected it, If you got it from a retailer, perhaps you could get a different type as a replacement option? Since It will take a while to go across the pond. You could try some old school Keith methods to keep your mind of the waiting. Setting a screen between your ready up jar. for collection and full drying?

@Pyr0 I actually got a 12pk of glass furniture feet that resemble your grain catcher! From a used place even. Took your idea in the pic and ran with it. They don't fit nice inside the bottom of the grinder like yours. However, I can use the glass for a bottom half with my grinders, almost as if.

As I like a fine grind I am using my SC 2 piece & then dumping it on my 4 piece screen & a couple of light taps before spooning it into my bowl for use. My final loads are way less potent but load potency is very consistent otherwise. As for storing buds/ABV I have several I use. My daily jar is a 300ml glass jar that I put in a 1/2 at a time. I have used that for at least 3 years & it has a white coating of resin. I use a similar size screw top jar for my ABV & also have two large glass jars for larger amounts. For kief I have a little glass bottle with a cork stopper. Works beautifully & I got 5 for $2 from an art supply place.

What is everyone's thoughts of pressing into pucks vs keeping the keif loose form?

I'm getting ready to harvest and trying to decide if it's worth pressing. I don't need the portability aspect of pucks, so it seems like keeping it in loose form would be easier to manage for topping bowls etc. Pressed might burn a bit slower, but is there any other benefits to pressing it that I am missing?

I've seen some of those presses.
I try not to disturb or break the grains as little as necessary. Perhaps only puck them when there is a need?

@redcon I've pressed Kief before but that was when I smoked. It was easier to use it like a hash. Which is basically what you end up with a blond hash. I now prefer to vape it loose.
