Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Good questions nano-macro we've had a very difficult time getting technical details from the heat tool manufacturer (remember we basically retooled an existing tool with a different element and modified board components/settings which wasn't their original design or intended use). So we basically just have to test ourselves (we know it works, but are still doing a lot of testing...wand warming up now for some KandyLand I'm about to grind MOF) and like Khantagious said there are so many variables beyond the actual potentiometer measurements such as pull rate and frequencies, density of bowl pack, moisture content of herbs, ambient temp (the colder the ambient temp the more heat you need), user preference for vapor or hybrid vapor/smoke qualities, etc that what really matters is one....maybe two "human sensor measurements" IMHO.
Namely the flavor/body qualities of the vape (VRIP if proper) taken and the load carcass/ABV color as an approximate and relative indicator ---- if it's over browned and the vape was smokier than you like you know to turn it down a tad and/or pull a bit faster; if it was just yellowed and barely dried with whispy vapor that never condensed up as thick as wanted you know to milk it slower and/or turn it up a tad. Dead center perfect VRIPS are relative to your preferences and will come with just a few practice rounds usually, but really can be achieved in more than one way is the key understanding. This is.one of the really cool things about a modular "tools" approach. Some users like to use the stand or a mug which adds yet another variable by holding heat in to the inverted mug so that when you pull it out there is extra heat (qty dependent upon how long it's been in there) to get it going faster and then the thermal curve fades back to where you have the potentiometer set. Simple analogue control relying on the Human Sensor feedback loop was the idea with the VHW....all that thermal mass in that hunk of glass that is the cover really stabilizes and holds the heat well so you've just got to figure out where you want to set the potentiometer relative to your ritualistic preferences. Most users run the potentiometer between 80% (seal it - pause, milk it up to get it going keeping the wand tip sealed in the upper intake) to 100% (pull faster with not much if any milk-up and cracking the seal between wand and upper intake during breath pauses so as not to burn) heat settings. It's your ritual we just provide the tools that give you the options!
Anyone having any difficulty dialing in or who just has questions looking for visual answers is invited to hit us up to schedule a Skype session where we'll walk you through some VRIPs...we can't grind and share our flowers with you (we would if we could), but we can show you the techniques we like to use and from there you should be able to figure out your own preferences for how to best pledge allegiance to your Flavor Country.
Love it Stickstones thanks for the session time context; we get a lot of inquiries from potential customers worried about how long a VRIP session is going to take relative to other systems out there. If you plug the wand in so it's preheating while you fill the water tool with water and ice and grind the flowers, by the time the bowl is packed and you're ready to go so is the wand. This simple strategic process really negates the drawback of the heat up time, and the size of the extractions and deliveries possible negate the need for another vape for hours in most instances. Go big, go aromatic and make every session a special occasion session!
