DDave Mod for SSV/ DBV/ LSV

Release The Beast 2

@DDave has done it again, except this time 7th Floor's line of desktops become remarkably efficient.

Love the way the DBV/LSV/ SSV rips huge effective draws? But maybe you're like me,and tend to over fill your wand? Or frustrated that it is a very effective device yet, can mow through one's stash like a wood chipper?

Our resident "Vapor Wizard" has a solution.

I've been testing this for the last several nights, and I gotta say...

It is fantastic!

I was habitually overfilling my wand, and would always end up passing out during my session, even after I was already high as a kite.. I still would try to Vape more than needed.

This mod eliminates this issue, and creates a one-two "hit it & quit it" beast.

I can not emphasize how this has improved my sleep...
I'm now able to load about 0.02-0.05 and take two monster hits and put the wand down and hit my pillow and dive straight into a blissful slumber.

As opposed to a 30 minute session,in which I was already high as fuck 20 minutes prior...this long duration of Vaping Top quality herbage with Hash leads to me passing out for 20 minutes up to an hour or more slumped in my chair.

This inevitably makes my already wrecked back, hurt even more so.

The mod cuts it down to 2 massive hits that are absolutely perfect, which is also assisting in Tolerance issues.

Additionally, screen removal and installation becomes child's play...
No more fumbling with screens while high.

In conclusion, I only use my Stock setup when I *want* to have a long drawn out session.
I'm in love with my DBV all over again.

Thank you @DDave , you have literally improved my sleep hence my life.
Awesome job!

First off, Thanks for testing! By size alone, knew the pieces would fit, but would they be fit for purpose? Really awesome that they can improve aspects of such awesome units as these!

More than hearing the pieces fit or that the mod works, glad to hear it helped you! Greater control over vaping options!

Thanks for creating a thread with such a detailed review! While I do love an occasional long, drawn-out session, I am a 'hit & run' style vaper. Quick extractions then back to whatever I was doing.

Planning on putting up another eBay listing for the pieces needed for this mod. (Will be less costly, as far less pieces needed in comparison to kits for the EQ). Won't be able to do so till around Wednesday so will circle back and announce once it's created.

I believe in celebrations and seems one is needed for this success! Another contest perhaps to gain testers with various 7th Floor vapes?

Thanks again & Vape On!

I will post pics as soon as possible. For now, the kit is comprised of the 18mm pieces of my other mod, basically Wand, Basket Screens, and Whip. Was going under the premise that improvement similar to the other mod could be achieved with a DBV, by improving the airpath, basket screen dimensions/materials/mesh, and moving product closer to the mouth of the heater. I really like the results that @Hashtag46&2 has reported. For me, it's all about choices, and having plenty of them so I can tailor a session to what I want or need at any particular time.

I don't want to spoil his official "Ribbon Cutting"

I can say it should be a fairly reasonable price point.

I probably should of waited to post this :bang:.
I couldn't be more pleased with the way this mod was presented. This ribbon cutting was on point!

Working out details, but the kit isn't going to be costly. You're right about the price point.

And I'm glad you didn't wait to break the news! Seriously!

The only thing I regret is being unable to offer kits right away. This I'm working on and will get news out as soon as possible.

Here's to elevation! :smug:

Nice!! Will the two mods be interchangeable between the eq and 7th floor products. At least at the heat source. I'm a guy that likes both eq and lsv.
From an EQ kit perspective, absolutely. It contains the pieces that will comprise this kit.

Using the wand pack method (kind of like loading a solo stem), you will gain the benefit of the airpath/basket combination and get results like @Hashtag46&2 describes.

You've caught my attention. I'm always looking for ways to make my LSV more efficient.
I'm watching this thread :ninja:
Can't wait to see what the kit is comprised of.
You and me both! Efficiency and variety... two of the spices of life! For some occasions a more heavy seasoning consisting mainly of clouds!

The LSV will have two versions of this mod. One for standalone use, the other for water tools.

I would say more, but at the moment...

Haven't used my SSV in the last month or so. Definitely staying tuned for more info on this mod @DDave. Sounds like something I might need.

Really hoping to announce soon! Stay tuned...

There is another huge advantage (for me at least) to using this mod.

Aside from the ability to customize your session to exactly where you want it.

Changing/ Cleaning screens...

As many of you know, I'm a hash fanatic, so screen cleaning is paramount to the quality of my session.

And,sure when the screen size is perfectly cut and measured properly, it is pretty easy to seat and remove the screen when needed.
But, as you may or may not know, if the screen is a fraction too small/big/ fraying, it is a huge PITA to get her seated back perfectly.

This mod (although it will be needed to clean more often due to a finer mesh) is SUPER easy to install and remove.

The kit came with 2 basket screens, so easy rotational soaking is very convenient, always have a fresh clean screen!!

When you first receive your kit.....

When I first inserted the basket screen... It fits very snug, to the point where there was a tiny gap between the lip of the basket and the wand...wasn't quite "flush".

I thought it might be an issue as if you pull through the tubing and block the screen with your thumb, there was some air leakage (only when doing a dry run)

But as soon as it's inserted into the Heater Cover, the leak is moot, no impact.

And in fact, after a few uses, the basket eventually slides all the way in flush with the wand's rim.

Again, the best thing about this kit, is giving the Vaporist choices and variety within one vaporizer!

Want a nice long session while watching TV .. Or a quick hit and quit.

Low temp sips - high temp rips, it's all here.

One last note; the load is now in very close proximity to the heating element, turn down temps accordingly.

I am doing a single primer at 10-10:30 and the sweet spot is about 11:15.

@Hashtag46&2

Very nice review of one of the mod benefits!!!!

Kits to be offered on eBay will contain a greater number of basket screens. They do have a finer mesh and are quite durable. I've had no negative feedback from any who've received them with their EQ kits and I did give mine a whooping when I was testing initially.

Good note on the temp as well! Any time a mod is used on a vape, one should go about "resetting" their session parameters as the "signatures" will change.

Edit: quick note for those with the SSV who are interested... you'll need the heater cover that appears below in order to be compatible with the parts in the mod...

All,

The Econo-Kit is now posted for DBV and SSV! Simple, cost effective...etc.

Kit consists of:
* 18mm Borscillate Glass wand
* 3 Custom Stainless Steel Basket Screens
* 2.5' High Temp Food Grade Silicone Whip Tubing

Same pieces as @Hashtag46&2 tested and reported back on.

Notes:
Do Not Order if you're interested in the LSV kit! Sourcing another piece for that kit!
Do Not Order if you wish to seek a whip-water tool adapter. Sourcing that too!
Do Order if you want to start saving precious herbs right now!

love it @DDave ! I just ordered a new SSV, but with the spherical connection. gonna have to see how we can make that one more efficient as well!
Thanks @stickstones !

I loved my stock EQ, but couldn't stand the way it "helped" me burn through product. I wanted to be in control, hence the mods. Better extractions off less product.

I saw the same reports of burning through product while browsing through the DBV and SSV threads, so asked @Hashtag46&2 to test. His results matched results I had with the EQ, and so was born the 18mm Ground Glass DVB "Econo-Mod" offering. Just listed initial kit on eBay.

a new SSV, but with the spherical connection.
Tall endeavor, but will be thinking further on a configuration that may work. Wand mouth looks much larger than 18mm wands.

"The impossible is only a challenge that has not yet been met."

Edit: There are quite a few options to look into here... Maybe I should offer a heater cover mod kit as well? :o

Sorry, completely different topic, so completely different post entry. Posting in DVB & EQ Mod Threads.

In regards to water tool adapters, do we prefer straight or bent at a 90 degree angle. The adapters will be 18mm Male ground glass to Whip tubing and 14mm Male ground glass to Whip tubing.

So, what's preferred? Straight or bent?

I prefer the 90 personally. :2c:

Thank you sir! Noted.

Out of curiosity, most water tools are 18mm Ground Glass? I know most of mine are and most of what I've seen as well.

This is what is so great about this community..

In my neck of the woods, 14mm is the most common found in WT.

Typically, with GonG Bongs, the Downstem is 18mm and the female receptacle :brow: is 14mm.

Looks interesting, is there increased risk of the herb falling into the heating element by being closer tho?
I thought there might be when thinking the mod through.

Still a new mod, so awaiting much more feedback, but those who've tested so far did not mention this.

Thoughts behind design as related to fallout:
* Screen inside diameter more narrow than Arizer baskets, holding a tamp better.
* Similar to Solo Wand pack, I've had very little fallout on the solo and that wand sits vertically.
* angle of the vape heater cover opening helps.

Stay tuned. I hear there's a DBV review in progress that may soon be posted.. and possibly soon after, one on the SSV as well...

My impressions are fantastic! I am trying @DDave's mod for the first time on my ssv, and though I find it hard to believe my ssv now competes with my best one-hitters. I'm also surprised at how simple this mod is, I actually had this stuff laying around from past experimentation and never quite put it together this way before. This mod seems made for 7th floor products even if it was thought up for an EQ...

I just put the screen in the wand and the hose in the other end gave it a shot, while my ssv was heating up after changing the hc out to the standard gg version. After that I jammed the other end into my old 14mm (cleaned up) combustion bong. Wow! Gotta say that this old bong is having a reniassance, as I have been jamming my hopper into that downstem as well lately. But now my ssv has new life as well :)

 Extraction is now thorough and instant, and stirring is no longer necessary.
My ssv is now able to run cooler and deliver bigger hits, what's not to like?

More testing is definitely needed, many thanks to @DDave !

I am a little confused about where the screen is placed in the wand. Does the basket screen sit inside the wand like the stock wand/screen or does the stainless rim of the screen sit atop of the rim on the new wand?
