How much pot is Washington smoking, anyway? Sewage tests will find out
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The author of Washington's recreational marijuana law has suggested that Spokane test its sewage for traces of the cannabis chemical THC, to get a more accurate picture of pot use by residents.

American Civil Liberties Union lawyer Alison Holcomb proposed the idea at a Tuesday meeting of the City Council's marijuana policy subcommittee.

A scientist for the University of Washington said the proposal is a good idea.

To me this is a major "waste" of taxpayer dollars. I guess part of the huuuuge mj tax will go for testing shit.
EDIT I presume one of the reasons cannabis is $15-20 a gram at the rec stores. I was doing some research to see if Colorado was doing this kinda thing. No they aren't. How come WA does such stupid stuff? Sometimes I feel like moving to CO, I'm from WA by the way.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask......why? Why is it THAT important to know? More importantly, who cares!

This is their way possibly of figuring out how much black market cannabis is being used possibly? At $15-20 gram that will keep the black market thriving for all those cottage industry folks.

5 arrested for impersonating federal drug agents
The Associated Press

Published: Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 - 7:31 am

REDDING, Calif. -- Five people who allegedly stormed a residential marijuana garden near Redding and falsely identified themselves as federal drug agents have been arrested on charges of robbery and impersonating a peace officer.

Shasta County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Michael Peery says the people tending the pot told deputies the suspects — three men and two women — brandished rifles and wore toy badges, clothes with law enforcement insignia and at least one Drug Enforcement Agency jacket when they tried to raid the property on Thursday.

Peery says the robbers fired several shots at the growers and demanded their marijuana plants. The growers went into the house and came back with guns of their own, which prompted the phony agents to flee.

The suspects are between the ages of 32 and 51 and all but one is from Redding.

Italy’s Army to Grow Medical Marijuana

10.13-italy.png

Italy legalized medical marijuana last year, but the program did not draw in that many patients because of the high costs associated with buying medical marijuana legally from a pharmacy.

Recognizing the medical marijuana program’s shortfalls, the government now plans to have the Italian Army grow medical marijuana in a high security military lab in Florence.

The supply from the army would lead to a higher supply of medical marijuana, allowing the government to lower the price of pot for patients. Medical marijuana is currently imported from Holland and is approximately eight times more expensive than buying marijuana on the black market.

The average gram of medical marijuana in Italian pharmacies costs 38 euros, while it is sold illegally on the streets for only 5 euros. So far, about half of Italy’s 20 regions have pledged to make the army-grown medical marijuana available to patients for free.

The military marijuana growing program is considered a pilot program, meaning that it may not be here to stay and that medical marijuana won’t necessarily be widely distributed.

Italy is a Catholic country with a historic stigma against drugs, so it remains unclear whether this influx of supply and reduction in price will be enough to help the country’s medical marijuana program flourish.

From Randy Lanier's Facebook page.

A onetime Indy 500 Rookie of the Year is about to realize a dream he never thought possible: to be released from prison. He had been serving life without parole for marijuana trafficking.

Randy Lanier's days of playing chess and practicing tai chi in prison are coming to a close, as the U.S. government has issued his release from Coleman Federal Correction Complex in Coleman, Florida, according to Autoweek. For years, the popular GTP sports car champion has been reading letters from fans in jail, but now he will have the chance to shake their hands and thank them as he enters his new life

Another reason not to live in Florida even though it's a beautiful state. Laws are batshit.:uhoh:
Something like this should never happen again. Some of these laws are unreal in a civilized country.

Cheri Sicard here with words from Randy Lanier on his impending release tomorrow after being incarcerated for 27 years (on a LIFE SENTENCE) for a first time, nonviolent marijuana offense:

"The day is near. Life in the free world again. No more handcuffs, no more belly chains, no more ankle chains, no more being locked in a cell, no more looking through bars. Even though I have been in prison for nearly three decades I have been able to be liberated and free of bondage years ago through getting to know myself. I will speak further on this and more on randylanier.com (the site will be back online again tomorrow).
Peace!

Randy"

Marijuana Could Be At Risk in Uruguay with Presidential Election
Oct 26, 2014

10.26-uru.jpg

Uruguayans begin to vote for a new president Sunday. Depending on the outcome, it could become the first country to repeal full marijuana legalization, after becoming the first country to fully legalize weed earlier this year.

302269_20141021152837_mujicavazquez.jpg

Outgoing President Jose Mujica would like Tabar Vazquez, his predecessor, to take over.

Vazquez and Mujica share the same goal of retaining marijuana legalization. If Vazquez’s opponent Luis Lacalle Pou wins, he has vowed to undo the country’s marijuana legalization.

Lacalle Pou has announced that he plans to repeal the state-regulated production and sale of marijuana if he wins the election. His supporters are primarily individuals against recent leftist reform.

Patrick Quinn, from a screenshot of KHOU coverage.

Police in this country have a problem. Sure, there may be some good, honest cops out there but they're too often overshadowed by bully-creeps like 26-year-old Patrick Quinn, a school district cop in Houston.

During a recent traffic stop, Quinn allegedly told a woman he smelled weed in the car. That's not what he wanted to be smelling, though. Nope. His olfactory glands were tuned to other things: her feet and underwear.

TokeoftheTown-NFL-SATIRE-thumb-560x398.jpg

According to ESPN, Detroit Lions defensive tackle C.J. Mosley won't be playing in tonight's international match in London after he was busted disabling a smoke detector in his room so he could toke up.

Apparently Mosley needs to learn how to ghost-hit herb and leave the shower running.

Marcus Stanley.
Mosley signing autographs for troops in 2012.
It's unclear if Mosley had herb out and the person from the hotel saw it, or if he was caught puffing tough. But it doesn't sound like any police action was taken. Mosley has been suspended for two weeks. Team officials haven't talked specifics yet, but Mosley and the union have filed a grievance to fight the suspension as well as the loss of pay that Mosley would face.

All of this because he didn't know how to take small hits in the bathroom with the door closed and hold it in until nothing comes out. Or how to cover what minimal smell is left by taking a nice, relaxing stoned shower and using the multitude of fruit-smelling bath and body products offered for your use.

He should have used a vaporizer.;)

Hummm...

A 2000 $ underwear of which the cost can be recovered through civil asset forfeiture anyway...

Well maybe we should all move there to open smelly pant stores!!

:mental:

It seems this is only going to get worst as i doubt there's enough democracy left in North-America to fix aberrations like that. And Americans should feel happy having made progress in a couple states, while here on the land of King Harper the 1st we're all going backwards collectively.
