Salutations Ajadbe,

Avoided doing what, exactly?

With my v2.1 it seemed appropriate not to manipulate the main white teflon piece once it was hot, as i feared maybe that could cause it to loosen up eventually, should deformation have partly become permanent when mechanically stressed and heated simultaneously. But it didn't matter for long because i never really liked that item anyway. A glass wand only required plumber teflon tape to implement a suitable airtight junction. I'd pre-heat a couple minutes, suck shreaded dry cannabis into the glass bowl and then slip an HA crucible on before i finally plugged that contraption into my HA oven. A screen or 2 inside that bowl allowed some weight adjustment of the cannabic bowl capacity while i found i also liked having just the minimal amount of cotton required to keep my cannabic stream free of debris at the other end...

Good day, have fun!

Thank you. :)

I'm not manipulating the MP either except when fighting to keep the standard one in. The TonG is now staying in great after it's heated and I don't put it in or take it out unless cooled.

I kinda wish the customer service rep had recognized that my description of changes in MP's fit after one use could be part of a normal process. According to the manual, "... The mouthpiece may require force on initial insertion. ..." I took that to mean it would be a snug fit on each initial (cold) insertion. But based on what @cybrguy said and my tests last night and today, it would seem not. OTOH, the new standard MP doesn't stay on well at all so with a little luck, the replacement unit will hold it better.

Hi again Ajadbe,

Thank you.

No, thank YOU. Because i once started considering the v2.2 but my understanding of the oven/crucible/wand features just remains too vague so far. Which is why i keep lurking around in hope clear demonstrations are made some day.

Dryness issues ain't solved yet but, you see, it could be me who needs to say thanks for the time & effort, nonetheless. :D

...I don't put it in or take it out unless cooled.

Good choice for the time being, lets hope trouble doesn't return, because i'm worried it may not be this clear what's to conclude should the popping ever occur again...

Fingers crossed.

According to the manual... ...it would seem not.

Then i hope the readers are taking note! Perhaps some old pamphlet needs a revision?... This sure got me to wonder anyway, so i'll stay tuned at least for a good while longer.

Nice work and thank YOU, Ajadbe, once more!!

Good day, have fun!...

... i once started considering the v2.2 ...
I recommend the unit, despite initial issues. It's easy and quick to drop in a small bud of top shelf MMJ, heat (for maybe a minute), take a few tokes, then turn off. No long "sessions" (unless the strain is ho-hum). Very nice quality to the buzz.
... Perhaps some old pamphlet needs a revision? ...
Clarification could save future hassles.
... Good day, have fun! ...
Back at you! :)

Man, what a weird problem. I'm sorry to hear about it, I'm totally in love with mine 5+ years into owning it. Love it even more since I recently got a bubbler for it. Going from smoking to this I just seemed to use so much less to get just as medicated. And no grinding, I love that. I can't really compare it to other vapes though, I've never needed another one for home use.

I think the issue may have been a misunderstanding. Got an email from HA this morning saying they wanted to see my unit before replacing it, after all. I sent a reply with a link to this post: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/herbalaire.276/page-77#post-660751 and suggested they read the surrounding discussion. Maybe they'll make the process clearer next time they revise the manual. I'm happy with the outcome and love mine, too, @StormyPinkness. :)

So the issue was just a loose MP when it was cold/ before heated? I thought the manual did mention that.

The original standard mouthpiece (the one that pops out when heated) is defective. I didn't see anything about MPs being loose when cold and won't check now as it will irritate me if overlooked. Only noticed that "... The mouthpiece may require force on initial insertion. ..." and thought it applied to every initial cold insertion, as I said above. Others' comments about their own loose-fitting cold MPs were very helpful.

Or could it be possible HerbalAire actually just wishes to see what happens 1st-hand. I know i'd want to myself if i were responsible for my customer's hapiness in any case, or maybe it's simply more convenient somehow, etc. My bet is this can still be resolved to your satisfaction but i have no priviledged information, you'll need to find out so hang on a little while longer if that's within your capabilities. Your input may even contribute to help others, eventually, and unless the company has moved to China, euh...

Well we'll keep sending you a few good vibes!! Hoping for the best of the best.

@Egzoset - Thanks. As said in posts #1907 and #1909 above, I think there was a misunderstanding on my part. HA has nothing to gain from examining the unit. The only defects were in the original standard MP and my interpretation of what the manual said.

Hi again Ajadbe,

As said in posts #1907 and #1909...

I was hoping to cheer you up a little, thinking if you send it back no matter the standards then it should be possible for HerbalAire to find a pair of complementary parts to match and fix your unit with those. On another hand if you believe all units are the same and there can be no satisfactory solution then i can't think of a suitable alternative short of returning the product, or perhaps one might ask for the Elite i guess (provided it's different somehow).

Good luck, i'm sure the readers (and myself) will be looking forward for a happy end!

I just bought some silicone tubing and used the same connecters that HA used for their vinyl tubing. I actually made 2 tubes, one with a mouthpiece to use as a whip, and one with a 19MM elbow to attach to water pieces. Both work great and are WAY better than the vinyl insofar as taste and flexibility go. Over time I have found that I much prefer vaping through water.

A water tube above the HA would make me a little nervous, however, as if the water bubbles over (as I have been told sometimes happens) the HA could be damaged, but I have never tried a water tube. YMMV

This is kind of an old post but I was looking to use my HA with my D020-D without the HA being upside down on top of it. I've been looking back through the thread and I think you were looking to do the same thing? Glass and whip from the HA to the bubbler? Did you have any luck? Ideally something I could pull out so I don't leave vapor in the glass which I've heard let's it cool on the glass. Thinking about a whip from the D020-D mouthpiece too, but that just feels like me being lazy and I'm not sure how tell glass would fit there. The mouthpiece seems like the only weak point too, don't want to stress it a lot. Going to just start checking out glass joints, I'm sure I'll find something that works.

Before my adapter came, I just used the stock MP with some silicone tubing and a bong. The bong has a 19mm diffuser, and the stock MP can fit inside, although a little wobbly. I think the D020 is 18mm? It works just fine, and can easily be taken off to clear it. This can help until you find something you like.

I read somewhere on here that the SSV/DBV whip fits over the MP just right. It also might fit into the glass piece but easily fixed with an adapter if not.

$6.50 for 3',$11 for 10', $20 for 20'.

An angled one might be easier though.

Yep, this is what I did. About a meter of food grade silicone, a 19mm elbow on one side and the whip connecter that came with the HA on the other side. I wouldn't mind a better connection in the whip to the HA MP, as this one is kinda small and gets a little gooey, but it works just fine and is, of course, the right dimensions for the MP.

The elbow pops in and out of the glass joint effortlessly to clear the bubbler.

Edit: So, I was just looking back in this thread for the pics of what a user did to make a better connection between the silicone and the HA MP. I think it may have been @onigiri1692 who drilled out the MP a bit so they could put a glass piece (from the solo maybe) in the silicone to mate better with the HA. Didn't find the pic, but I may try this on my standard MP as I always use the TonG now. If I still used this as my main Vape I would be more motivated... ;)

Hey guys have a quick question, can you use the HA 2.2 for hash? A buddy threw in some free hash, and I'd rather vape it than light it up.

For me yes, but not efficiently. I tasted and felt it, it totally gave it a kick. After the herb was done it still felt a bit soft and I could tell it wasn't spent. I'd just take tiny pieces and wedge it into a bud or do that and grind it. Chances are you'll be scraping it off your crucible though. I really only did because it was a free gift with an 1/8th, I get wax now though.

Also thanks for the bubbler help, @cybrguy and @Magic9 too. This should be easy and pretty cheap no matter what I do.

Do folks remove MP screens before every ISO soak and put back after or are screens sometimes left in place for cleaning? So far, have asked my husband to remove/replace every time. Thanks in advance. :)

@ajadbe I don't remove the screen, but they do pop out during cleaning. The screens are good materials and can be easily cleaned unlike some vaporizers. The screens do tend to get tiny particles in it after use so cleaning it will keep your HA in top shape. :)

I haven't cleaned mine in 5+ years beyond taking a safety pin and poking through the little holes on the screen when the resin clogs it once a week or so. Bad way to clean it and I'm not super delicate when I do it. That being said the screen is magically still 100% intact. I really haven't treated my HA well maintenance wise and it still hasn't broken in any way.

Thanks. Sounds like I still shouldn't clean a MP with plans to use it soon unless help is home.

So no rusting from a water rinse after. I like that. :)

@ajadbe mine popped out because I filled the tube with ISO and shook it too hard that the poking tool poked the screen out. For a simple clean, just use a soaked ISO q tip for the MP and you could clean the screen super fast with ISO. If yours pops out, just flatten it a little with your fingers, and put it back in. No rust

Ended up getting the silver surfer vertical water adapter. The black hose adapter that comes with the HA fits pretty snug into it, but if I cover the other end of the hose I can tell it's not airtight. I didn't see any vapor escaping and it sure doesn't feel like any escaped. I might cut a little off a silicone whip and just put that around where the hose and glass adapter meet, but I'm pretty happy with it as it is. I'm especially happy I can use my crucible again, I was always ocd worried about that. Thanks for the help everyone, once again this forum improves my vaping.
