How wide can mouthpieces get?

Hey everyone!

I'm working on making a new mold for HUGE tapered rubber plugs for use with pieces that have a large mouthpiece. I'm trying to estimate how large I should make it so it can be "universal" to fit most every mouthpiece on the market (aside from small serpentine pieces)

Can someone with a few pieces tell me how large they get?

Thanks!

I'm not a huge fan of mouthpieces that you have to insert your face, how can one operate with a 3 inch gap, is that the inner or the outer diameter.

What about steamrollers?

I'm thinking if I make a tapered plug, maybe from 0.5 inch up to 2 inch, that should cover a large portion of the market.

I'd like to see some extra soft stoppers, made of silicon or something pliable enough to seal out-of-round mouthpieces. I miss the old days with straight tubes...put a stopper in the downstem and a big one at the tube opening, and soak away! Now everything snakes around like you said and is a pain to clean.

Edit: My big funky Weedstar beaker comes in at 7cm inside diameter, and probably needs a stopper a little bigger (and/or softer) due to out of round. It's not a practical mouthpiece diameter, depending on how much padding and the shape of a person's face.

The rubber silicon stoppers I make are extra flexible - they can be easily manipulated and stretched.

If you PM me a picture of what you have, I'm sure I can determine how well a round plug would fit (or I could make a custom mold).

7cm is a bit wide, but I can easily make a plug big enough. I'm actually tempted by the challenge - PM me a picture of the mouthpiece, with a ruler next to it if possible.

Ratchett, The D020 bubbler is an inch across. The Solo mouthpiece is 1/4 inch.

Heh, I've already got the D020 size covered - looking to make a new mold for making huge rubber plugs for large mouthpieces

(Note this is an old picture - my new tapered plugs have a glossy finish)
