Chamomile QWISO

Ok, so I have been away from FC for a little while.

During my absence, my partner suggested that we make an essential oil from Chamomile, knowing of my proclivities for concentrates.

I used very much the same technique as the Skunk Pharm method, with results which surprised me!

I used cured organic chamomile flowers (30g) and did a 20 second wash with ISO. I froze both the chamomile and the ISO prior to extraction. Yield was not huge, and was a liquid oil, as opposed to the shatter I am used to from other plant extractions.

However, I have found chamomile essential oil to be as useful as THC Bomb shatter in getting to sleep (those of you who know me will know that I suffer from extreme and persistent insomnia due to a number of chronic illnesses).

The chamomile oil was vaporized using both my nail/oil rig and my Persei/Minicron and a kiss globe. The taste is delicious, like chamomile tea without the plenty taste. It provides a significant feeling of somnolence as well. I find I feel sleepier from this than shatter!

Also, when mixed with shatter, the chamomile seems to take the edge off the huge cannabinoid hit you get from a good dab.

Of course, this is anecdotal information, reported by yours truly. YMMV, however I heartily recommend this technique, especially for those of you who love your dabs but can use a t-break at times.

Enjoy! :D

Nice findings @herbivore21 and very good for you that you have another essential oil that can help you. We have noticed you've been away, everything ok? We would greatly like your presence in the Kleen Xtract thread and would like your thoughts...some very interesting things in that thread that I, @farscaper and others would like your take on. And....welcome back.

Many thanks for the welcome back my friend!

All is well, I have just had a very busy time helping my girlfriend move over here from tens of thousands of kilometres away amongst other things. A fair bit of travelling has been going on and I have just started back with some of my academic duties as well. I'll have to make an effort to be around here a bit more again!

I will have to check out this other thread now ;)

Ah good to hear you have your girl there with you now :)
I feel you on the academic studies...I hope I do not need to do any more of that! (1 AS, 2 BS, 1 MS, and certifications)...and I taught college level for 15 years, lol.

Cheers man, I am on leave from my research at the moment but have just gotten back into my university teaching roles again after the end-of-semester break. Decent workload though and great students, which helps!

Let's see what I have to say about that when it comes to marking though lol

So many academics and researchers around FC! :D

Hehehe, same as I used to be...loved being in the class and interacting with the students, but when it came to grading....grrr, I hated grading...I would always get angry when marking because the way I did my courses, you had to be totally lazy to not pass my exams, ie, not study. I would then ask myself, why are they even in school if they are not going to reinforce what they learned by studying the material? I'm not in academia anymore, but when I was, for the most part, I must say it was some of the best times of my life.

Chamomile has an important enzyme which metabolizes some essential oils to psychoactives :).. Like elemi, sweet basil, mace oils.. cannabis has some of the compounds those oils have like mystircin Also not to forget parslay and dill which are also activated by camomile..:)
You can have real fun with some tasty salad.. i believe this extract is very useful.. I would try this with some damiana .. i have a lot of it.. :)

CYP1A2
CYP1A2 seems to be is a very important enzyme to inhibit for nearly all allylbenzenes. This theory is based on the fact that the potent CYP1A2 inhibitor German chamomile oil helps activated nearly all allylbenzenes. CYP1A2 is proven to 1-hydroxylate many allylbenzenes, possibly making them inactive. Together with CYP3A4, CYP1A2 is said to break the methylenedioxy group of apiole, asaricin, croweacin, dillapiole, myristicin and safrole.

I am currently working on a PhD in Bioengineering (in vitro liver models). Interestingly, I routinely conduct assays to detect the enzymatic activity of CYP3A4, CYP2C9, CYP1A2... and many others. These enzymes are predominantly expressed in hepatocytes (liver cells) and play a major role in xenobiotic (drug) metabolism. For instance, greater than 60% of the medications that society consumes are metabolized by 3A4. Inhibition and induction of CYP enzymes play a large part in drug-drug interactions. Take grapefruit juice for example. It is a potent 3A4 inhibitor, and many medications warn against taking them while having consumed grapefruit juice. I never thought I'd read about things I actively research (ie hepatic metabolism) on FC! Thank you for that.

Yeah, most of the abusable downers have the GF warning. I'm a bit of a pharmacology nerd, nowhere near your levels but on the road to knowledge.

Lemongrass is another herb to add to the list, we grow some plants of it here to make tea from in the evenings when it's cold. Overripe mangos as well as dark chocolate also do things.

This is really, really interesting. I dab very heavy, especially for living in a decrim only state and not being a producer, distributor, or particularly wealthy (though my finances are not in particularly poor condition). Having something to help me cut down a little on later in the day consumption and especially for sleep would be amazing. Early in the day going in to work two or three .03ish dabs puts me in a great place for most of my shift; however, once I'm off shift I find it takes me two or three more dabs of the same size to get to a place that really aids anything but especially sleep.

Interesting. Did you find any way to make it less liquidy and more shattery?

Its an amazing thought, because chamomile is wonderful. Lavender would be worth a try too! Its very oily stuff

Nope, guys, I used my patented shatter techniques and could not get shatter out of chamomile for love or for money. This is gonna be oily as a motherfucker unfortunately! lol

Just a heads up that oil slicks tend to still stick to chamomile oil too. My recommendation after having made this a few times is just to wash as long as you can without effecting the taste, I have found this to be about 15-20 seconds. Also give 2 oz of chamomile at a time a shot. Bigger washes are crucial IMHO
