Back pain, High blood pressure, Sleep aid, Alcohol addiction

Hi I'm a newbie,

This is my first post and I'm not sure where is the best place to post this. I have herniated discs and originally went to get my medical card from a "pot" Dr because I was still leery about the legitimacy of MMJ for pain and because I've had a prejudice toward marijuana from all the years of being taught how bad it is.

I have had some positive results for pain relief but not quite to the degree I was hoping for, but it does help (still looking for strain that will help the most).

An interesting side effect that is still not considered a legitimate ailment for treatment in Arizona is that I found it has lowered and balanced out my high blood pressure into a healthy zone.

I just went to my family Dr yesterday for blood tests and to tell him about my current level of back pain. I've had this Dr for years, however I was nervous about telling him about the "alternative" route of pain treatment I recently pursued.

When he asked me if I was still taking my 2 blood pressure meds and the 1 sleep aid med. I was honest with him and told him I had stopped taking all 3 meds, and then dove in and told him the truth about using MMJ.

To my absolute shock he was totally supportive and was very impressed that I had cut out 3 prescriptions from using MMJ. He actually encouraged me to continue with MMJ as treatment.

I am still in a state of wow that my family Dr was so positive to MMJ. I was absolutely sure I was going to hear a litany of warnings about addiction etc. Instead he told me; over the years he has put many people in the hospital for HBP and and many people in hospital due to alcohol, but he has NEVER had to put anyone in the hospital for using pot.

Btw; I am also a recovering alcoholic, almost 2 years now. So I was also concerned about adding another potential addictive substance into my life.

Just wow and I'm amazed. I'm still working through the years of programming I've been taught that pot was bad, and that instead is a truly natural medicine.

Mine too. I used to take Micardis, no more . . . :)

This one is a keeper sounds like, congrats . . .

I'm on the fence on how I feel about Marijuana addiction. It is as physically addicting as heroin - No. But will you feel the need to medicate every time you hurt - yes. I think it is habit forming because it instantly adds that silver lining to any situation, so why not toke up and feel great right?

MJ is a truly magical and medicinal plant that will benefit your life. Just ensure that it is used to benefit your life, not an impairment that stops you from doing things. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you are choosing cannabis and getting high over daily activities instead of combing the two to enhance what is going on, then you might have an issue.

I am not trying to offend or tell anyone on how to live their life... Just giving an opinion :)
