Don't Eat Your Fruits and Vegetables......Juice Them

I definitely feel you can have too much fiber in your diet. If you're eating beans/legumes/veggies all day long (like luchiano :D) then juicing, instead of blending, makes a lot of sense.

With my diet I really need the fiber from my blended fruits & veggies :ninja:

Yeah man get that fiber in your diet because without it a lot of problems can happen later on down the line. Try to get some psyllium husk to add to the drink because it adds some soluble fiber to keep you regular as well as keep your blood sugar and cholesterol stable. Fruit and leafy vegetables don't have that much soluble fiber(which is why I eat a lot of beans also being that they are so high in it), besides apples and adding psyllium husk will help bring more into your diet. Keep that gut healthy.

Look folks it is simple. Your digestive system needs a certain amount if "fiber" to mechanically operate, but nothing beyond that. Juicing is about concentrating nutrients, vitamins, and minerals to a degree that cannot be accomplished by eating whole, raw foods, blended or not, simply because of the volume required. It appears to me that a hybrid drink starting with concentrated juices and ending in a blender may be the way to go . . . :2c:

Yeah, I was thinking about getting the vitamix so I can use the juice from the juicer and blend it with an avocado, banana, coconut water, and herb to make a nice and non pulpy really healthy cannabis smoothie. The vitamix does break shit down real good for that purpose.

I have a Juicer but I realized I was not getting all the fantastic fiber. All the solid matter gets thrown in to the trash basically. I bought a NutriBullett:

http://www.amazon.com/Nutri-Bullet-...F8&qid=1340316065&sr=8-1&keywords=nutribullet

I have been really impressed. If I want juice now I just blend the fruit. I add a little water and the fruit and it completely liquify everything. It comes out a little more pulpy then juice... but you are getting all the good fiber.

Personally, I think the blending is better since you get the entire fruit in your glass.

I like the NutriBullet so much I quit going to JambaJuice. It has saved me allot of money on smoothies.

Sounds awesome  I am almost positive the Blendtec guys are gonna be at my local COSTCO around the holidays. Its been so hard to resist, and I should be having to pony up for a Cloud soon, but right now I'm thinking the next time I see them, around Christmas, if they are runnin' a "super deal" I don't think I'm going to be able to say no, even though my spouse thinks I'm :mental:

Sorry I joined the party late! I have both a Champion juicer and a Vitamix and BOTH are absolutely top notch. I'm much more in favour of the vitamix because EVERYTHING is in there. I do use the juicer from time to time but it's mostly VEGGIE juices and I dilute them. Fibre, as mentioned in an earlier post, is the natural control rod for sugar absorption/regulation. Without it, your blood sugar and insulin can shoot up, and then plummet, like any other sugars. This is why I limit juicing the fruit to just add a little bit to the taste.

Pretty refreshing seeing a thread with people interested in health and wellbeing, and not just about getting high. FC kicks ass.

NYCDiesel mentioned Wheatgrass earlier in this thread. That prompted me to try growing some for myself, and what I found: it's great stuff. Growing it is fun, pretty easy, and doesn't take much time. From what I experienced myself and found through research is that wheatgrass juice contains many, many nutrients, and it even increases the processing of oxygen in the body. This is in part due to the very high levels of chlorophyll contained in the grass (around 70%).

This video is worth checking out especially if you've never heard of or seen wheatgrass:

I agree - wheatgrass juice is the shit - however... Be careful of growing it INDOORS as mold is a huge problem with it. I usually buy mine juiced (and frozen) to throw into my smoothies.
Mmmmmmm chlorophyll!

Yeah, the mold can be an issue. I had a bad spot of mold on my first batch of wheatgrass. The mold appears as if it might be a problem, but it's really not. Most mold can simply be washed off. However, if mold starts to seriously interfere with the growing of the grass, then there's an issue.

I prevent mold by leaving a fan running on low next to my tray of wheatgrass. Works like a charm--no mold.

super late to the party, but I was gonna make a new thread for this until I did a search. :)

so I got a vitamix this week. I got it with these points I had been accumulating on my credit card though my bank that until about 3 years ago I didn't even know about! I had been "shopping" on their site but never found anything I actually wanted or needed. Figured I'd just get a ps3 or ipad or something... but then came the vitamix! I had to wait a few months until I had the needed points to buy it. but my wait was worth it!

I have only had it a few days, and I can already feel a difference in my general feeling of well being.

i've been enjoying a lot of smoothie type drinks. started to freeze my fruits and have them ready to go on standby for breakfasts. so far I have: pomegranate, strawberries, pineapple, raspberries and banana. (just wash berries, dry and freeze on a tray. then bag em once frozen. this is to stop everything being all stuck together.) I then add flax and hemp seeds first turning them into powder before making my juice.

Today I put spinach in with it! couldn't really tell it was in there either. :)

Ive also made soups, orange sorbet, milkshakes, mac and cheese sauce with seasoned bread crumbs... it's all been delicious!

I just wish I had found out about all this sooner!

Speaking of late to the party .
I just started juicing yesterday!
I got my self an Omega and so far it makes great juice .
I am not trying to juice fast or anything . Just trying to replace my mid day eating . i still eat a small early breakfast and then have a mostly veggie juice and then a normal dinner .

I am already 99% vegan and have been vegetarian for more than 25 years .
And I generally don't eat much junk or processed foods.

The main reason I started juicing was an experience a friend had . She has a similar nerve issue as me that mostly affects her arm and hand (for me the right arm and hand )
She started juicing and the problem started going away, after a few months it was gone The key ingredient ....Potato.

I thought this was strange and I did some research . I found out potato has anti-inflammatory properties.
I also found out the new potatoes and the darker(red purple.etc) are the best. So I started to look around for some place that made juice and used potatoes .... nothing but I got to taste some great juice on the way .

It took a few months but I finally go a juicer , I got the Omega because my research said that a slow- masticating juicer was the best .
I found a place that sells factory reconditioned juicers with a 12 year warranty for $100 less than new .

So far i am loving it and the potatoes don't add too much flavor .

I don't know that it will help my problems but it cant hurt .

I've got one of these. I mainly use it to make green smoothies. They are more difficult for our tummys to break down so I process all of mine to a liquid.

Also great for pears and oranges (fruits which I just can not be fucked eating bite by bite..)

Make sure you dont eat any green potato or that has some green on it because it can be toxic. Keep juicing.

Well, in my college travels, I've heard VERY different advice regarding the "juicification" of fruits and vegetables from a wide variety of people.

FWIW, I still slice my blood oranges myself and "suck the juice" right out of them before discarding them to my compost pile.

I've had 13 beers and plenty of vodka today. I should probably lay down...

i used to juice, but ended that because i was sick and tired of having to clean each part of the juicer after each juicing. takes like 5-10 mins to do so and i hated it.

i will be going the blender/smoothie route moving forward.

i have read dif thoughts about juice vs smoothies. what i gather is that by having all of the fiber in there, obviously you are getting less of the main nutrients. BUT w/out the fiber you arent getting any... well fiber. either way is amazing for your body and can give you back that natural energy.

now i have to read reviews on the blenders/bullets. need to get back i to eating well again!

I know right, I feel like the kanye west of smoothie drinkers.
We blend absolutely ever day, use blenders for cooking, make baby food, basically run a commercial juice store in our kitchen.. and we have broke so many blenders. We went through 2 MagicBullets (which are fucking garbage) and it broke my heart when my partner started looking into another cheap one. This is something we will use for the rest of our lives so I just thought 'fuck it' and did it.
Im excited to do an FC exclusive write-up about it when it arrives :) I'll even grind some herbs in it :leaf:

Are the magic bullets low quality in your country, Deja Vu? Is there no warrranty?

I like mine, but I can already tell where it is going to fail down the line, the tabs that actuate the motor. But mine has an 18 month warranty so I am not too worried about it.

You can't really beat a vitamix for a family though. I have the bigger magic bullet and even with the bigger cups, not quite enough for two people, but that's easy to remedy, just make 2 smoothies. I just don't have cash for one, so I got the Nutri Bullet.

I used to juice all the time, 2 clicker must have had it easy! Or I just suck at cleaning, LOL. My juicer used to take about 20 minutes to break down and clean afterwords. That's not including prep time. Just to down a pint of juice in about 15 seconds before it goes bad. Some juicers are easier to clean, usually the more expensive ones. I have a Jack LaLanne and it is a PITA, although I have certainly gotten my money's worth and it is fairly well built, and a good value.

Magic Bullet takes 3-4 minutes to prep, make, drink, and clean! Plus you get fiber! :shit:

We had 2 taken back under warranty. The motor couldn't handle certain things, like.. 2 bananas and some milk. It shit itself. Melted plastic bits, made fucked noises. I was heartbroken when the 2nd one broke as well. The click-to-blend function was VERY fun though, but after a while all of the little clear plastic lock-in pieces became worn, jagged and broken.
I tried the Magic Bullet and the magic bullet delux 21 piece set with upgraded motor. Both failed :(

Hopefully this Vitamix is the be all & end all of blenders for my family

I had a VitaMix... when it was 30 years old, I passed it along to married son, and got a BlendTec.

*sigh* I wish I would have kept my VM. I'm already on my third blender cup, as the blade assembly keeps losing its seal and destroying itself. It's still under warranty, but I'm ANNOYED with it.

Good job on getting a VitaMix, mate!

That's the type of stuff I want to hear! Makes it easier to justify spending that much on a bloody blender  and I actually considered getting a BlendTec! I was this close to getting one but they weren't in stock so I went with the Vitamix. Very glad I did so!
