Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but would you guys rather choose the Haze or the Ascent? I've been using a mflb+PA, and wanted an "auto" vape. Any info would help.

Thanks

dont know about the haze.

ascent works great, battery lasts a long time (but takes a few hours to charge). only problem i have with it is the vapor seems pretty hot compared to the pax for some reason.

Are you currently using the latest model for the ascent? I heard from people that there are a lot of issues with it down the road. That's what's stopping me from pulling the trigger. The haze came out recently. Dual bowls for dry/wax/oils

I have had an Ascent since February. It was my first true vape (I had a vape brothers knockoff from years ago, hated it). It converted me from combusting to vaping. For that, it holds a dear place in my heart. Unfortunately I personally feel the Ascent's heater to be underpowered. The flavor is amazing at low temperatures, but I'm not a big fan of the vape for the price.

I don't know much about the Haze, so I cannot comment on the comparison. But I personally don't care for the Ascent at the price it's going for - for half the price, it would be worth it. At $250, It's not worth it to me.

Note, I bought mine direct from Davinci (davincivaporizer.com) - first unit was a model 1AA1 - it died after 1 month of INTENSIVE use (5 sessions a day) - the wires running through the rotating hinge broke on the heater and had to be replaced - my new unit was a 2AA1. Luckily the customer service is fairly good and I had a new unit within 10 days of failure. But that was 10 days too late - I had said fuck combustion 3 weeks earlier and had no working vape!

Another issue I have with the Ascent is the session length. My wife always complained that I was literally tethered to the Ascent since my session would last 30 minutes (probably longer by now.... ha haha).

I still like the Ascent, but unless you can buy one from an authorized vendor with a valid warranty for under $200, I would personally say your money is better spent elsewhere.

Will I ever get rid of this vape? Nope. It's the most portable vape I have currently (though reloading can be a pain while traveling). Also the flavor is spectacular between 330 and 350F

Do I regret spending $250 on this vape? Absolutely. :2c:

Thanks @Ratchett for the response. I do agree the price is really steep considering the problems people have had with it, but everytime I try and steer away my mind keeps screaming GLASS ON GLASS haha. How much would you price the ascent based on your experience? 150? The Haze has dual bowl features, but I don't like oils/wax so 250 could be much. Ahh! Vaporizers and their addictiveness...

Like I said, some would disagree, but I think it really comes down to price verses performance - yes, I say at $150 it's a deal, but $250 is far too expensive for it's performance.

Sadly, performance isn't there to justify the high price - once you get over the fact that an OLED screen with a temperature readout is really just a gimmick (yay, I can adjust temperature by 1degree increments - if only I didn't need to increase by 10-15 degrees at a time! And the temp readout is more of a temperature of the oven itself, not necessarily the load temperature. )

What about the Airizer Solo? It has MUCH better performance for a MUCH better price ($100 LESS than the Ascent? - HELL YES!). I passed over the Solo because of it's looks and opted for the sexy burl Ascent before I did my proper research. I really regret not having purchased the Solo from the start

I like the Ascent, but like most portable vaporizers, it's overpriced.

I have a Solo as well, but the problem is, I wanted a portable that I could put in my pocket, and that was never going to work with the Solo

Yup - this was partially why I didn't go for the Solo and went with the Ascent. My friend as a PAX, and it's a nice stealth vape, but the flavor is a bit harsh

@Ratchett ya know I thought that oLED was the coolest thing I've seen, but seeing you pov makes so much sense haha. Going from 350-410 sounds like it sucks haha. I've looked at the solo, but it's just more of a cosmetic thing like @hoptimum mentioned. Okay I might take a break from those choices to see how the inhalater 05 is. It's a sexy one.

Yes, it's nice to be able to dial in the temperature, but it really isn't much different than any other vape with 5 or 7 temperature settings. I usually vape at 4 or 5 settings, starting at 340F and working my way up to 400F at 10 or 15-degree intervals (20 or so puffs at each temperature). And it's actually quite dissapointing how little they make use of the OLED screen - I'm sure they could add a few more menus and options (Like a run-time odometer). But nope, it's a pretty basic interface

@TNT_error indeed - I chose the Ascent for it's cosmetics before I did my due diligence. I really regret that decision. You're paying a premium for cosmetics without true performance to back it up

Hold out for a bit, do your research and maybe something else nice will come along.

A little birdie told me 7th floor is also working on a new portable vape (nothing has been announced, but let's just say I heard something....)

I own Pax and Haze. I formerly owned DaVinci and Solo (before i bought the Haze). Haze is an amazing vaporizer compared to Solo and DaVinci. There is a Haze thread here on FC which you can hear from Ascent owners. I cannot testify for Ascent but i did not hear much good stuff about it. Pax is good and Haze is great in my opinion since you can do practically all material types, pre-pack feature, dual bowls and external battery. It is smaller in size as well. You can read that thread on FC, there are pictures and videos from users so you can decide for yourself. I would recommend Pax as well for stealth vaping.

I have both the Haze and the Ascent. Like Ratchett, the ascent was my first vape and holds a special place with me. However, right now my Ascent is getting worked on while my Haze has been problem free.

Here's a few advantages the Haze has over the Ascent currently:

1: Removable Battery. This is huge for some people. Great for camping or road trips.

2: Comes with both a glass and a stainless steel stem. You can always rely on your stainless steel if your glass breaks (and the odds are that someday it will break for one reason or another).

3: Two chambers. This is a very nice feature I think.

4. The Haze is infinitely easier to load and unload because its not rounded at the bottom like the ascent (although that can be remedied with the awesome looking loading stands that Ratchett has designed and sells. I don't own one but I think its a brilliant idea that would be a worthy investment).

5: You can preload the oil cans with dry material (just take the wicks or cotton out) and vape as you would normally. This is the sweetest (originally unintended) feature. You could go to a concert or on a trip with as many preloaded canisters as you like and not have to worry at all about grinding and loading. Just swap them out as you go along.

The Haze actually comes with convection and conduction screens but I think most people just load the herb into the oil cans. It keeps the herb chambers completely clean and doesn't seem to noticeably restrict the draw at all.

I do wish the Haze had a greater range for temp control. But its not a dealbreaker for me by any means. The unit is small and discreet, could easily pass for some funky designed e-cig I think (you could even have some ecig juice or other types of herb loaded into your second chamber and just switch on that chamber if you really felt the need to convince someone).

Here's what I dislike about the haze:

1. The heat-up time increases significantly as the battery gets drained

2. The unit gets pretty hot after a bit and can be uncomfortable to hold

3. The area where the stem meets the air pathway can get sticky with resin or oil to the point that you can't flick out the mouthpiece. When this happens it requires tweezers or something to retract the mouthpiece. I think if you clean it on a semi-regular basis this won't be a problem.

Now, all that being said...I still love my Davinci when it works. Mine worked like a champ for 7 months or so, I've now had to send it back twice. However, I'm hopeful that I won't have to ship it back a third time. For me the ascent just feels a little more natural in my hand. I like the balance of it and I love the clouds.

Once I have my Ascent back in good working order I will be doing some experiments between the two units and perhaps even a video review. If you have any other questions I hope I can help.

I've decided on the indica for now. This should last me a couple months so I can check what new devices are coming out. Got the indica for 150 so it ain't so bad
