bubbler and air resistance/drag problem

First the flavor, then the buZzz settles in....
Hello to all, I apologize if I posted this in the wrong forum, mods please move if thats the case.

I just received my arizer extreme q in the mail. I did much research prior to using it and thought I was set. I had silicone tubing, an extra elbow and a bubbler from a prior vaping unit. So I swapped out some pieces and attached my bubbler to the extreme q. After countless hours of research I decided to elbow pack. I know that the elbow pack creates more resistence to the airflow, but I wanted to get the most from my unit.

I noticed that when I pulled from the bubbler there was alot of drag/resistance, which I already assume there would be some but not much like I experienced. I also filled the bubbler with as little water as possible, enough water to cover the slits so the vape can be filtered. The problem is that I have high blood pressure and my lung power is not up there, after I used the whip and fan on 2 I was real light headed and my blood pressure shot up from all the vape pulling I did.

I ordered the extreme q because it boasts that it has a fan and I guessed it would help me pull in the vapors easier. By the way I have not tried the ballons yet. I want to keep using the bubbler because the vapor is real harsh on my lungs and throat.

So the question is; is there a way to cut that resistence/drag from the extreme q to the bubbler? What if I cut the silicone tubing in half? Id figure that if I cut it, the vape has less distance to travel and would require me to pull less. I also read that if I swap out the original elbow that came with the q with an ssv elbow it would provide better air flow. Is there a technique I can use to ease off using as little of my lungs as possible? Should I just conform to using the cyclone bowl? Any other thoughts or ideas on how can I fix this problem? I gave up smoking for vaping and I really like vaping, I tried edibles but its not my thing. Id hate to just give up the vaping but If theres no other solution Im going to have to. Thanks everyone.

Please don't answer all at once...hehe..After reading for sometime I thought I should have posted this in the Arizer forum. Any mod can link this up? Annnd I also just want to mention that this site contains a wealth of information....I toked, I studied, I conquered. Its a great site....

well the logical thing to do was go and figure it out. So I did...I cut the tubing and made it alittle longer than the balloon one and hooked it up. Had a blast.

I know nothing about the Arizer vapes, but I have used a different bag vape. You really should give the balloon a try. You can load it with very thick vapor without using lung effort, and then you can inhale the whole bag with practically zero resistance. You might be able to hold the bag nozzle to your water pipe inlet and water-filter it too.

If your bubbler has alot of drag on its own, you should check out the Cheap Glass thread. Some of the very vocal posters have an affinity for low-drag devices.

Check out the ddave EQ mod on the E Q thread. It entails an 18mm f/f adapter and a silver surfer ground glass stem replacing the cyclone bowl and elbow. I find very little resistance using this mod.

Why use a bubbler at all ? I know it's cool and all but how are the hits though the whip with the fan or just out of the bags ? Water tools look cool and all but i for one find 'em to be more of a pain in the ass then they are a benefit for vaporizers that use a whip or bag system to cool down or tame the vapor, the whip and or bag do that just fine on their own, for me anyways.

:2c:...:peace:

Edit; the couple of times i used my HA with the whip and Bong, the pump actually caused the bong to bubble and fill on it's own. so there was zero restriction when clearing the bong,

How long is your whip now? I found too much restriction with a longer whip, > 2'. And are you using the stock EQ Cyclone bowl?

I have a few ideas on how to modify the EQ to improve airflow, but doing so would require physically modifying the unit, therefore voiding the warranty.

Yes, the balloon is definately worth a try thanks. Im stuck in the whip style because I feel I have more control. I thought Id do an upgrade from the vaporbrothers boxstyle vape I had. I wanted to get a high end vape but it was a tough decision shelling out $600 plus for volcano or something similar. The Extreme Q caught my attention because it has so many amazing reviews, the fan and the price , but tell you the truth, I havent been really impressed by it, it does have its perks but the Vaporbrothers is alot more practical and the vapes that came out of her were amazing. I would have never gave it up, but It had alot of resistance in it with the bubbler and the straight whip was too harsh for me. So I sold it and gave up on vaping all together. Now that I think of it, even though it might sound obvious but at the time it didnt, I should have cleaned the screen on my whip, a dirty screen could have been contributing to the resistance.

thanks for that. I will look into it. A better bubbler is definately worth a shot. Though, I dont think its too much the bubbler. The bubbler on its own with water doesnt feel so tight to pull. I think its more with the time I spend trying to pull the vape out and clear or the set up all together. I pulled air on the parts individually to see if I can pin point the problem. The screen in the elbow that goes into the cyclone bowl is rather tiny. I pulled on that end and noticed that it feels alittle tight pulling air using that piece. Does anyone use that piece without a screen? I know some material goes up there. It doesnt look like much but I want to save the used material to bake with.

This sounds like a good solution to my problem. I will definately check it out. Thank you.

Yeah I know. It is a pain in the ass, if it were up to me I wouldnt use it, but without it Id be coughing my balls out my mouth. I havent tried the balloon yet. Hell thats why I got this vape to try the balloon in case I wanted to upgrade to the volcano or such. I was thinking maybe I can let the fan do all the work, but I read somewhere that when hooking up a water device not to use the fan because it strains it and it can malfunction. Ive been pulling in and using the fan at the same time. But its definately worth a try if more people have done it with success. I dont know if the pump/fan on the HA is alot better, but I feel that on the q it could be more stronger.

I cut the whip to about 4" long. Long enough to connect and give me slight elbow room, short enough to cut the distance by more than half the whip. It did help, but I feel like I can cut the resistance even more somehow. Yes it is the stock cyclone bowl. I kinda hate it tell you the truth....lol...if I can cut the lines and distance and be closer to the heating element I think it would work better. Maybe....its just me thinking.

Cool....at this point. Its worth a shot. Ive used the q twice already. After the first time I was dissapointed and thought about selling it. Call it trial and error. The second time when I cut the whip, I did get more airflow. Though the vapors were light and not as thick as when I elbow packed it or when I used the Vaporbrothers box vape. I started at 170c to get the flavor out and worked up to 195c about 7 hits of vape all together. I know the q is neither a totally solid balloon or totally solid whip vape, its a little of both. But I was undecided between so many vapes and each had its pros and cons. Feel free to post the info for that mod here so others may see...or I can pm you to get the info on that mod.

I also noticed that if I draw in using the straw/milkshake method short pulls without using my lungs I will be able to produce vapors that are visible coming out; when I breathe out of my nostrils. Looking like a dragon...lol

I then use my lungs to pull as much vapors in. My technique in the begining was to pull with my lungs from the start until I see vapor inside the bubbler and keep pulling until Ive got a good amount in the bubbler and then cleared it. I was obviously exhausting myself. By the time I had vapor build up, I was already huffing and puffing and light headed.

Also like many mentioned turning up the heat helped. And with fan assist allowed me to take in good vapors without over exerting my lungs.

@Chezgreendream Is this your first Vaporizer and first experience really sitting back spending time vaporizing ?

Edit; Opps sorry i had a brain fart and overlooked your post about your vaporbrothers box. I've never used an EQ but i have vaped with a Vaporbros and V-Tower(eq with no fan) side by side and the vaporbrothers with mini wand out performed the V-Tower Hands down. no contest.

Its Cool, just also wanted to add that my techniques are probably not as developed as yours or many here because Ive often tossed the idea around wether to stay vaporizing, smoke, or consume the herbs in any way.

At times in my life Ive stopped all together; for job or family and investing in a vapor brothers box vape gave me a healthier alternative and killed practically all of the odor, making it unoticeable to family. After the learning curve,* gradually developed a technique for that box and thats all I used, its all Ive known. What can I say, it did the job and it was dependable so why go elsewhere? You know.

I only vape by myself and my vape sessions are done in a hurry. So to sit down and relax to take a vape session is only inviting unwanted attention. I think Ive hurt myself or my lungs trying to take as much vape and as fast as possible, before there is a slight trace of smell. My wife has a good nose for that and shes not at all happy when she smells even a hint. At first it was possible to do with full lung power, but It wasnt doing me any good. So that method that Ive learned today, I feel relieved many of my problems, because As I was gulping the vapes and exhaling out the nose, for some reason it did not smell like anything so I kept doing it and realized Id hit paydirt.

Reason being with the Vapor brothers it would smell alittle bit like herbs in the room. But with this vape and how I was doing it amazingly there was no smell. Plus I never imagine gulping vapes and breathing out through my nose just because I felt it was like wasting vapors. But with this vape, Im able to produce lots of vapes. Mayebe not as thick as the vapor brothers but it did its job. Im just throwing it out there, maybe someone has the same problem.
