Which log vape?

So I've been using a mflb for a while with a PA and its pretty awesome, however I'm looking into getting some sort of a desktop. My only real issue with the mflb is that it's so annoying and difficult to teach to some people. I also would like the vape to be more of a heavy hitter for at home use when I don't need a portable. So basically want I want is something that has a decent heat up time, is pretty easy to hit, easily pairable with glass, and somewhere around the $200 mark. I've been looking around the desktop vape forum and it seems like some sort of log vape is the way to go, as of right now I'm looking at the e-nano and the underdogs but theres so many options that I'd like some guidance from people who own logs as to which one you guys think would be the best.

I have an E-Nano and can highly recommend it. It's a little powerhouse - it produces great tasting vapour and is very efficient. It also requires minimal maintenance - basically it's just the stems that need cleaning. It can be hit dry or used with water. It also has a built in variable temperature dial to suit your needs and herbs. The price is perfect for you too.

I haven't tried an Underdog or HI, so can't offer you my thought on how they compare - but here's a thread that compares them all:

Good luck :peace:

I can't speak for the HI, or the Underdog since I have never tried them, but I absolutely LOVE my Nano. To the point where I actually bought some exotic wood from Snappo and had a second nano made from beautiful Afzelia burl (look about 3 or 4 pages back from the last page of the Nano Thread and you'll see pictures).

The Nano is the first vape I loved so much I actually bought a second one. Aside from the lack of bag options (which I'll 3D print my own bag adapter at some point), the Nano can do anything else you want - it's literally heat on tap. I leave mine at low temperatures during the day, and crank it up 5 minutes before I start my session.

Nice choice as an upgrade from the MFLB, you'll be blown away by a log's performance.

It really looks like E-nano is the way to go, just got to save up the funds. I'm thinking about getting some sort of bubbler with it too but it wouldn't be right away, hows hitting the e-nano dry?

Good choice! *sometimes* they pop up in the classifieds.

Honestly though - the efficiency of the vape will pay for itself in no time. Since I fucked combustion in February, my monthly expenses in medicine have been cut in HALF. This leaves a lot more breathing room for more toys.

Alas, the Nano has cured my Vaporizer Acquisition Syndrome (VAS)...... Hopefully I can get my Glass addiction under control before the wife starts to get pissed!

Many people like the Nano dry, it has a very smooth taste even at high temperatures. But I find the standard glass dry stems too awkward (I never use my nano upright to prevent ABV from falling down onto the heater), so I usually hit it through glass.

Although I am still thinking about a custom steamroller rig made by @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd to hit the nano (or maybe a standard female joint to work with other vapes like my Lotus?)

I am very fond of the HI, but the wait time is pretty long. What I like most about it, in addition to being an ass kicking vaporizer that pairs exceptionally well with a water tool, is that Alan is always coming up with new roasting tubes to enhance the experience. Nothing against the UD or enano, but if I had it to do over again I would get back on the waiting list.

Think your best bet would be to pick up a nano, and get on the Hi list. Hi's look they they are currently taking more than a year for your number to come up. If you decide you don't want it at that time, no harm no foul. Just let Alan know to skip you and go to the next person on the list.

There are a couple short threads comparing both of these and the underdog. Poke around for them. THey have some pretty good info.

For glass, check out this thread. Cheap glass from China (usually $30 - 50 incl s&h).

Cheap High Quality Bubbler

A few warnings... it moves very fast, and there are many choices presented.

I own an E-Nano, a DDave modded Extreme Q, a Solo and I've used a friend's SSV.

The E-Nano is the best vape I've ever used. I've only used it through a water tool, though.

Hitting it dry, I'd imagine it being like a more efficient SSV/EQ. Thick vapour, but from even less material.

Definitely get yourself some kind of water tool. Check the thread flotntoke mentioned and pick up one of the recommended pieces.

The best thing about the nano, to me, is the efficiency and power. I can load up a TINY amount of material (0.03-0.05g in my case) and fully extract everything in two milky, water-filtered hits. The whole process is quick, convenient and really satisfying :brow:

people talking about efficiency & power of one log vape vs another must operate on a totally different level than me. i've tried all 3 and afaik, all log vapes are efficient as hell, whether that be the UDog, nano or HI. how many here can differentiate between the 3 (assuming temp control usage) in a complete 'blind' test? imo the difference/variance is too miniscule as to matter. to me, it's more a question of which 'brand' you prefer.

Jack of all trades, master of none.
I could definitely tell the Nano from the UD and HI because of draw resistance.

even if i stick to just using the UDs, i can tell you that draw resistance would be effected by the type of stem/bowls & load size etc maybe even the core itself (new or classic). maybe i should have said, MOST people would not be able to tell the difference (or specifically, I can't tell the difference). All 3 are fantastic log vapes and have very good customer service rep, so i don't think Op could go wrong with any of them.

Oh MAN! I wish I could tell you. I love the hell out of my nano!! Not going to rehash again nano over UD (there are a few small threads that already do), other than to say A/C is what comes out of the wall and I'd rather not have to worry about converting it to D/C, and cost. I've tried a UD. It was nice. I really liked it and thought about getting one. While I was researching I came across the newly invented (at that time) nano, and feel fortunate that I did. Have no doubt I would've enjoyed the UD fine and hopefully wouldn't have ever heard about the nano again so I didn't have to second guess myself. But, am infinitely glad I got the nano instead!

IMO there is a slight difference in taste and draw resistance. I like the nano a bit better, but that doesn't mean anyone else will. And, for what it's worth on the taste test... I can tell where my nano dial is to within less than 1/4 setting even when mixing up strains. Tragic I know, but easy to get creatively imaginative while vaped. Suggest everyone give it a shot sometime when you're all vaped up and have a friend to set up the blind test for you. Have only used the UD a couple times since I've owned the nano (only know 1 person who has one that I don't see often), but I can taste and feel a small difference. If they were next to each other, think that difference would be even more pronounced.

Now the HI???? Really would love to try one out. So much so that I'm on the list and ready to buy as soon as my number is up. I'm dying to know how the taste compares to the nano.

Adjust-a-bowl GonGs & stems can be had for both nano & UD (anyone else notice UD has now copied these?). Between the dial or vvps and the adjust-a-bowl, small tweaks and dialing in your flavor or buzz is fast, easy and fun. And, Alan has so many stems for the HI (with more being added regularly) that choosing is almost dizzying.

... All 3 are fantastic log vapes and have very good customer service rep, so i don't think Op could go wrong with any of them.

In a perfect world, as far as retail logistics go, choosing between the 3 could be tough and I agree any one of the 3 would be a good choice. But, we don't live in a perfect world - especially for this discussion. So, it seems this new "which log" thread will end up the same as the others eventually do. Where is that?

HI - could be utterly amazing for all I know. THE vape to end all vapes. But, the waiting list is a year - give or take - so you'll need something else while you wait, or put off fucking combustion for quite some time! Still advise everyone get on the list sooner rather than later (especially since I'm already on it and ahead of any new folks!:p), because you may change your mind in the future. If your number comes up and you don't want to take it, no biggie and everyone further down the list will be happy you passed.

UD - if you want variable temp (a necessity IMO), you'll have to buy, figure out and use a vvps (true of the HI, too). That after probably spending more for the UD itself compared to the other 2 log vapes in this discussion. This puts it in second place (at least) for me. You can get them in cool shapes too, but I'm kind of partial to the simple wooden cylinder.

Nano - Plug it in, turn it on, wait 5 minutes and off you go. No vvps to worry about - easy peasy dial right on the cord. A/C power, with plenty in reserve, means you can't draw the heat down - no matter how much you try. Cheaper than a UD (even before buying vvps).

So, as I think someone said above.....

Think your best bet would be to pick up a nano, and get on the Hi list.

I very much agree that you can't go wrong with any of them so it really comes down to aesthetics.

good points (although i have to say there's not much to figure with the vvps). still, the type of wood used and any change in design style (and whether it's big or small) would may have effect on taste & heat temp. personally, i wouldn't bet on myself in a blind test but that's me.

p/s - just curious what is the factor that draws you into this HI, is it just the possible taste difference?

p/s 2 - hey, i just noticed you quoted yourself at the end, no fair!

Sorry... I should clarify. Didn't mean it IS the vape to end all vapes, meant it COULD BE for all I know. I have not tried it, so don't know. Actually haven't tried many other vapes out here now, so would take MUCH more research to call it the definitive vape to end all vapes anyway. What I was saying is, even if it was the vape to end all vapes, I wouldn't know.

It does get crazy love from the Jedhis. And, I am dying to try one!

Two things really draw me to it. Alan himself is one. Don't want to take anything from UD Dave or nano Andy. Both seem like great people and have designed awesome vapes. But Alan is just so into it and you can see the hard work and love he puts into each HI, just from the pics and discussion. Dedicated craftsmanship like that is a rarity getting rarer every day. I honestly want to be a part of that, and am sure I would get a great product for my money.

The other is the mad love it gets from owners. And, IMO not just some people who frequent this thread. Many I see there are people whose opinion I've come to trust and have learned much from here on FC over the years. If they think the HI is the bees knees, it is definitely something I want to try for myself.

And, to be totally honest, there is a 3rd thing... I want to be a jedhi, too!!!!

Possible taste difference and effectiveness difference are motivating factors for me. I bought the nano thinking I would like it and it would be a nice addition to my small quiver of vapes. Wasn't expecting to be blown away by it, but totally was. Still am after more than a year with it as my daily driver. Don't know if the HI will hit me the same way, but it might. Of course, it might not. But no way to know until I try it. However it works out, have no doubts I can recoup most of my cost on either (or a UD for that matter) here on FC classifieds if I choose to part with any.

I don't suggest "everyone" get on the list, only people who are considering picking up a log. Part of this from my own not too bright experience. I looked hard at all 3 before I decided on the nano. Once I made my mind up, I wasn't thinking about the other two at all. Fast forward a year or so.... I really want a HI too - for comparison if nothing else. If I'd had the where with all to get on the list when I bought the nano, I'd have one by now. But, after waiting a year to get on the list - I'm another year out! Just helping others learn from my mistake.

EDIT 1
good points (although i have to say there's not much to figure with the vvps).

Just realized I missed this part. No, not really hard to figure out once you have it. Hard parts IMO are just which to get, what you need, and how to make space for it on the table.

EDIT 2
p/s 2 - hey, i just noticed you quoted yourself at the end, no fair!
What's not fair about that? Thought it was pretty slick, if I may say so myself! Was just trying to say I already said the same above, though much more concisely. That's a rarity! So figured I'd flaunt it.

I'm pretty sure all 3 will get you to a similar destination with similar economy. The difference as you point out might just be the different personalities of the inventors. Logs are a niche within the niche of vaporizers and represent a unique approach to vaporization. I've communicated with Alan a few times since I bought my HI and everything you assume about him is correct, so far as I can tell, just a chill genius who likes tops and making amazing vaporizers. It's not just the craftsmanship, which is considerable, but the engineering to constantly come up with innovations built upon his basic HI design. That's one big thing I like about being part of that jedi knighthood: not knowing what Alan will come up with next. Who would have thought a couple of corks, some glass tubes and a screen would make such a great WPA?
