Making a Glass Vaporgenie alternative

Hello everybody, this is my first post, I hope your all doing well today :)

I am looking into trying to make an alternative to the Glass Vaporgenie due to the cost. I am planning on using the vape for a variety of substances, although I have never owned a vape nor bong so I do not know which individual parts to buy in order to replicate the device. I know I will not be able to make a device which hits as smoothly.

I live in Bristol, UK so I am looking for parts which can easily be shipped from or to the UK.

I have found the mouth piece I believe to be the most suitable - http://www.grasscity.com/uk_en/black-leaf-connector.html and I was thinking this may be suitable to hold my spice - http://www.grasscity.com/uk_en/black-leaf-carbon-filter-adapter-metal-disc-screen.html with this for holding the ceramic disc to provide a heat source http://www.grasscity.com/uk_en/black-leaf-bong-adapter-18-8mm-14-5mm.html.

Please can you advise me whether this setup would be suitable in replicating the GVG or what other combinations I could use (apart from buying the GVG )

Thank you for your time and have a nice day!

Salutations DreamTrip,

...trying to make an alternative to the Glass Vaporgenie...

There's the "Glass Sherlock" for those requiring a long-neck "Gandalf" model but have you considered the "Glass Bat" instead?

Simple enough, for some hints i'd suggest searching for details on VaporGenie's concept:

I know I will not be able to make a device which hits as smoothly.

Well, this depends on the individual. Initially my own personal experience didn't feel anything "smooth" as i couldn't even manage to use the VG Classic pipe at all... Lucky me, the year after i gave it another try and eventually succeeded through successive moddifications.

Glass sure appeals to me too but that will depend what for, as illustrated is my late version of a modded VG Classic pipe - shown here for your own convenience...

Here's a crazy idea:

That's an Arizer Solo Curved Glass Aroma Tube/Mouthpiece and i was lucky to get one that could fit suitably inside an HerbalAire v2.1 Crucible, too bad i can't tell if that's still possible using a version 2.2 Replacement Crucible though!

Anyway, that could have served as a glass part and i figure perhaps some 3rd-party sourced SiC Ceramic Filter (or else) might fit inside this aluminium crucible. I sort of wonder...

Having no personal experience with the VG "Glass Sherlock" i don't even know if i'd be able to adopt it...

I own the HerbalAire 2.2, and the glass Solo stems do indeed still fit inside of the crucible.

I am assuming that you have your heart set on glass, but if you do not, since you mentioned price is a factor, have you considered this little device?

I understand that it isn't glass, and doesn't have that homemade pride, but it would seem to serve your purposes well, and is very affordable.

I agree, settle with the coil and purchase a 14mm GonG, finding the perfect ceramic filter is the difficult thing and VaporGenie doesn't like giving users who don't already own a ceramic filter a ceramic filter, not to say that they wouldn't.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the VG through a J-Hook with the coil and the regular classic filter model.

Sorry if you've seen the video but it shows both the coil and the small mod I had to do to get my original filter on a WP.

I don't know if u can succeed in cheaper.. cause all those parts will be more expensive than the vapor genie coil which fits perfectly any glass :) ! But if you are looking for a true all glass alternative.. you can check the http://www.shopmillenium.com/search?q=ver-glow
Verglow products.. Bubbler + vaporizer costs 100.. although the slider alone and the pipe versions are near the same price.. lol..
Or u can contact them directly and buy the glass filter only ..

Salutations everyone,

Well, i was curious to read more from DreamTrip who expressed his own wishes to "make an alternative to the Glass Vaporgenie" (10 days ago), because of the expense. Not that i'd like to have more glass than necessary myself...

I own the HerbalAire 2.2, and the glass Solo stems do indeed still fit inside of the crucible.

Thanks for the information as i was curious about it but yet i'm araid i wouldn't be able to order a "VaporGenie Stainless Steel Coil One-Hitter Vaporizer Hand Pipe" at a local Montreal store, not to mention i'd have forgotten half of the words before i'm done!...

:D

...VaporGenie doesn't like giving users who don't already own a ceramic filter a ceramic filter, not to say that they wouldn't.

They used to mention that possibility somewhere on their web site but i can't find it anymore, unfortunately. Anyone knows what's the range of cell sizes, etc?...

...all those parts will be more expensive than...

One has to agree that this sounds like some solid reasoning as DIY projects don't always come cheap!

...Verglow...

Perhaps similar offers should be on display at VaporGenie's web site too, because the shipping costs will add up if the separate elements are from many diverse sources.

Salutations PoisonousHydra,

...got me to wondering...

Nice finding. 7th Floor's "Ceramic Flavor Disc" sells only 5 $ US per ~11 mm or 7/16" (dia.) unit, that should be fun, eventually! Also i noticed the 7th floor selection of material corresponds to thicker wall cells (which look somewhat more granular) than the SiC pucks i'm used to obtain from VaporGenie, apparently.

Hummm...

Anyway i suppose the material should handle the arbitrary moderate working temperature of 315 °C (599 °F) or so, why not?! But does it handle "Plan-B" red-hot torching?...

Those are infinitely more porous.
Here they are next to a VG Ceramic Filter:

Flame finds it's way past these holes very easily!

Some extra information
The Alivi8 stone is very porous, and somewhat fragile.
It is only a minor effort to get VG filters
To get VaporGenie Ceramic filters, just use contact form on the VG website. Tell them you want to buy filters.
They will write back to you with a link to a page to, order them.
They explained that this was to prevent people from buying parts they did not need, and to add an extra step so that folks just wanting VG filters to experiment would be discouraged.

dreamtrip, are you wanting to use a homemade vape for DMT? Just wondering because of the term "Spice". I hope you're not going to vape anything like synthetic cannabinoids with it. A college roommate wanted to try his K-2 Spice in my MFLB, to which I said "Fuck no"! But to each his own I suppose.

DMT, on the other hand, sounds like it would be worth the effort. I have only used crude methods of vaporizing that compound, with my favorite being crystal D on a bed of ashes in a glass pipe, with mint leaves on top. Sorry I couldnt contribute but I was curious about what "substances" you wanted to vape
