First of all , thanks folks who post such valuable info in here!
Just got my 2nd FF and taste of vape is elegant!

My 1st box was broken( nichrome wire was cut.) then I tried Pax and Indica.
Quality of both products are really good but taste of FF is much better for me.
I couldn't wait complicated process to send them back because I'm livin' in outside of US.
So , yeah , I bought again.

This product makes vaping time more fun.
Good tase , controllable , less herb

I sold indica and keep pax for outdoor usage.
And 90% time in my apartment , FF is definitely my partner!

New poster and new vaper here, loving the Firefly so far. Two questions I have for you guys with more experience though. Does leaving it on cause any significant battery drain with the LED? And also, I've noticed my Mendo Mulcher has a rather course grind, should it still be fine with the Firefly?

Your FF will turn off after (I think) 10 minutes of non-use. Maybe it's 5 or 15 I'm a little too drunk to remember but I think it's 10.

IME, you won't notice any difference if you forget to turn it off or not. I don't believe anything significant is happening until you engage the button.

The Mendo will probably be fine. Many of us Fireflys like a coarse grind, and some don't grind at all. It should be fine, but why not try a finger grind or a finer grind and see how it works for you?

Welcome aboard!

As EDA said, it shuts itself off and appears to have little impact on the battery.

I am one of those "start almost unground and finish with dust" users. I put mostly unground material in, especially when it's humid (like, um, NOW!), and stir every few hits and sort of iteratively grind over the course of a dozen hits or more until the end result is very fine. It also helps to use a top screen if you have finely-ground material, at any stage, to keep the vapor paths clear.

Welcome to FC!

Neat, so does it just turn back on when you press the heater button again? Maybe I'll try changing up the grind sometime, just for the hell of it. Thanks guys

I wouldn't even use a grinder. I have found that finer grinds don't work so well in the FF. If you take a bud and pinch morsels and pack those up to the rim you're going to get a exceptional experience!

Btw, having foregone the Arizer basket with finely ground and going with super dry bud barely hand torn has really made a significant difference in controlling the other variable like heat and draw speed. Now I'm wondering if I'm missing the flavor because I'm drawing too early. It seems as the unit amasses heat I get more flavor but it's the flavor you get towards the end of a bowl. I'm thinking that maybe my sweet spot might be to really warm up the unit, then put hand torn bud in and draw some warmer draws. The accidental times I've done this I pull back and smile at the flavor but this is very infrequently. I'm going to simply try waiting longer until the unit is nice and warm and see if I get what I'm looking for.

I received the Herbalizer Aroma Pads and they fit perfectly in the bowl. I placed a little o.pen vape cartridge oil using a syringe to test out and bam it worked perfectly! This may be perfect with wax, shatter, crumble, concentrates, etc. can't wait to try. I will report back on that soon!

Interesting. This is the inverse of my experience...best flavor occurs in the beginning. Even if the material isn't warmed up yet, and I'm getting early/wispy vapor, that early flavor is unbelievable. But, I usually don't experience that less optimal flavor until after quite a few hits, once the material looks much darker. (That's the point at which I slap on a top screen to raise heat and minimize mess, because the flavor is already on the downhill slope for me.)

I swear the FF is a friggin' vaping Rorshach test. Everyone sees something a little different in it.

Rorschach test-lol. I'm thinking more along the lines of the unit being Janus-a two faced bitch! Naw, j/k. I do think a musical instrument is a nice metaphor.

I like to think of myself as Jimi Hendrix coaxing this device using feedback and fire to riff up the National Anthem to the bewilderment of the world!

Just don't try and re-create the Monterey Fest by dousing it in lighter fluid!

According to the creators, mass was a conscious design decision.

:peace:

Though mass itself isn't addressed, they do discuss the challenge of achieving the heat levels necessary without it "exploding in the user's face"...a challenge I assume is related to mass. In any event, this is well worth reading for any FF fan who may have missed it...

Even with the size of the cell now. I think they could at least double the power.
And retain the appropriate battery specifics? Internal resistance, the 50W power draw from the firefly, etc. Depends on a lot, aesthetics being part of it. If doubling capacity means changing the size they'd have to develop the new battery, test it, then develop a new battery cover, maybe a different charger, etc. I'm not the most well-versed in battery tech on FC but I remember my hardcore cellphone usage days where with the slim removable batteries they had even just a modest bump in battery life usually meant a bigger battery cell with the ugly extra-big battery cover on the back.

So I accidentally put too much into my bowl at once when I was refilling, and I was too lazy to take it out so I just compacted it a bit and put the cover back on. Holy crap, and I thought i had it figured out before. I was going to ask what this taste that everyone talked about was, guess I don't need to do that anymore. Loving this thing more and more every day.

As I have mentioned many times, for me, more is better. The more I can cram into that bowl, the better flavor I get, and the hits are larger and thicker. More is more!

You never weighed your optimum bowl amount have you? I'm somewhere in the woods right now (with the firefly of course :D) , otherwise I'd give it a try.

I get somewhere in the range of .12-.15 g's into a bowl, packed pretty densely. From this amount I get somewhere around 20-25 hits, at least half of them very large. I can also pretty much drain a battery from this amount of activity.

Using the FF for few weeks and learning how to get the most out of it has made me like FF more and more...

I think the use of magnets especially in portables are going to be a part of future portables. Magnets provides an air tight seal, ability to create vapor paths inside the magnets, and it helps stealthiness because it keeps the smell inside.. Pax already uses a magnet for their oven door and to my knowledge, It functions very well.. I think the magnet is one of under rated features of this FF....

Any luck with the herbalizer pad/concentrates? Any videos of it in action and your thoughts? If it is able to function well handling concentrates then FF might become a more versatile vaporizer
