Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Cory Booker, D-N.J., are sponsoring an amendment to broadly ban action against state medical marijuana laws. Sen. John Walsh, D-Mont., is sponsoring an amendment that would specifically protect patients.

The amendment offered by Paul and Booker mirrors a prohibition attached May 30 to a spending bill by the House of Representatives in a shocking 219-189 win for reformers.

Please take two minutes to write your U.S. Senators and urge them to support the Paul/Booker medical marijuana amendment!

Rand Paul has been a Libertarian for a long time, and it passed today. Look who voted AGAINST it:
Forty-nine Republicans voted for the amendment and just 17 Democrats - including Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz - voted against it.

Dan Riffle, director of federal policies for the Marijuana Policy Project, singled out GOP members for praise.“It is refreshing to see conservatives in Congress sticking to their conservative principles when it comes to marijuana policy,” he said. “Republicans increasingly recognize that marijuana prohibition is a failed Big Government program that infringes on states’ rights.”

It wasn't surprising because he's a Libertarian it's surprising because of his history on the subject of marijuana. He's always said he thinks states should be able to decide for themselves while also saying how terrible of a drug it is and that no one should do it. It just surprised me that he'd tie his name to a bill specifically for it.

Also here is an easy way to contact your senators and tell them to vote yes for the amendment Rand and Cory are proposing.

"People that use it chronically have a loss of IQ and a loss of ambition,
but at the same time states have the right to make these decisions."

I hereby challenge Rand Paul to a standardized IQ test; I have been using mj for four decades

Lets not forget Rand Paul and his Aqua Budda incident. I don't think Rand and MJ are really strangers...

Eh if politicians let their past "mistakes" decide their present decisions weed would already be federally legal.
