Discontinued Tvape Vaporizer

After years of reading, researching and learning on this site I finally joined and this is my first post. I started with the Vapor Genie and eventually got a pax, which is now having problems. Decided to get the T-Vape 2. I bought the black one on Ebay. Its here but still in the box. Will open it tonite and check it out. Read in some earlier posts that it seem to emit smoke when first turned on before any load. Should I do an empty burn to see if there is any gassing or smoke emitting? Can't wait to try it out. Looks pretty stealthy too.

I would always do that as a check regardless with any vape. But it happened to me only after the first load, and it was fine herb resin stuck, no real issues or defects. Just a false alarm.

My panic however was due to taste, so get yourself some iso if you don't have and maybe some coconut milk for the mouthpiece (never tried but heard good things about soaking in that on FlowerMate thread). I only boiled mine in water and gently rubbed the oven and batter connection's silicone with a little iso on a qtip. The burn offs didnt really do too much but they certainly helped to ensure everything was safe. Now taste has been improving on its own though, you just need to tough it out and run some bowls through as normal and eventually it will hopefully be a thing of the past, in the meantime a bubbler sure helps...

I usually hit it at 390, then hold the button for 20-45 seconds when I want more vapor then take a couple hits, ...

The pressing '10 seconds for 10 degrees' seems pretty right to me now.

45 seconds is too long to hold it there should be a flash of the light from red to green after around 30 seconds and once it flashes it will not heat any more, you have to let off then reengage the power button after the flash for it to heat again.

I'm getting a good number of hits if I start at 390 and move up with a 5 second (5 degree?) bumps until I top out at max and finish off the bowl

IMHO it's a cloud chaser device, flavor chasers must to look for something else!

My wife don't like how it smell, a very deep abv odour!

But it's a very nice unit for a quick and efficient way to medicate, long batterry give me 7 bowls and the short gives me 3 bowls (with the short tube)!

I use more the short tube cause the longtube is very large (good for group session) and I prefer to use it through water.

It will be not my on the go daily driver(cause flavor is important for me) but it will be a nice vape to carry at a party (with a bong) to impress smokers friends!

Highly recommend flavoring your nipple. Just used my long oven for the first time and taste wasn't good. I soaked my short tube probably will do the same to my long.

But the long is nice as for me I only needed to do what RUDE mentioned and just hold for 5 seconds when I want more vapor.

My short tube has nice flavor, I agree my girlfriend hates the smell too she only smells the abv flavor. Maybe in a month your opinions will change after it stops tasting newly manufactured. I do wish flavor stayed green for a few more hits but on the go I use mint so it's not a concern.

I used just one time higher t° than standard cause with a full short tube I can get 3 or 4 milky hits and 4 or 5 whispy hits before is stops to produces more vapor and I don't need to increase the T° cause my abv is already done (and most part of the time a bit charred) BUT it's erratic cause sometime I got a nice brown abv (but no more hits if I don't increase the T°) and sometime a black charred abv (I was able to extracted all the goodies from my bud using the longtube in one big hit through my bigger waterpipe, I coughed a lot too, but abv was done in 1 hit,:freak:!).

Do you fill it full? Personnally, I fill it at least 90%

I've been filling the short tube but not packing it down, just letting the spring on the nipple do it's thing.

This Tvape 2 is keeping me pretty happy, so far after a few days using it I can't really find anything I would change which doesn't happen often with portables. More testing to come today for sure.

:peace:

Yeah I usually try to pack as full as I can, leaving a little room for the spring (I think of the spring is to close the herbs that could also increase likelihood of charring, but this is speculation), I pour medium grounds in, tap it around to let it fall through, then pack a little with a toothpick, and add more if there is room. Sometimes will give the top a gentle tamp with the ramrod to make more room for the spring and so less material gets stuck in it afterwards as well.

Honestly since my hits and packs can vary (mostly usibg short tube, with both batteries) its been hard to guage exactly how long the bowl lasts, especially if I do temp raises (still experimenting with how those work exactly, tried holding down button for the hit, don't think it made much difference so holding and letting go and then taking the hit seems right. Still curious if it stays at that temp or falls back down, can't quite tell yet...)

Well I did the unpacking, read the manual and watched the video on youtube. Did an empty burn which was a good idea and glad that I did. I don't think I did that with my pax. Once that was done I packed my first 'bowl(?)' with the short tube and long battery. I got so many decent hits I got too high and lost count. That happens sometimes. As far as taste, its not great. I honestly don't mind sacrificing taste for everything else it has to offer, though. The nipple taste did not bother me either as I found it to be subtle but it was there. I'm sure that will change with use. I do plan to get additional batteries. Overall I love this thing. It's sleek, looks like a big e-cig, easy to use, very portable with two replaceable batteries and gives you really great hits. It also has very easy cleanup and maintenance unlike the pax. I most definitely prefer this one to the pax. More than a hundred dollars cheaper, too. Anyway it was a good investment for me and I hope that this is the end to my portable vape search.

I improved my technique and got better results, no charred abv, better taste and more hits!
With short tube it's better to let enough place for the spring as Shit snacks precognize it and to don't pack too much, it helps to get a full evenly brown abv, a better taste and enough consistent hits.

I got a HGB 18650 2600mah battery, can I use it in my T-Vape 2.0? Can I charge it with the T-Vape charger?

Can you test and tell us. We'd only be guessing and hoping your foolish enough to believe. But don't see why not. I'd test the charger first.

@PPN If I were you I would want to check the voltage on the batteries before you stick the one you have in the t-vape, just to be sure.

Wouldn't want to ruin a good thing in the name of experimentation.

That is most likely a 3.7V battery so charging it in the TVape charger would be fine, but if it is actually a 3.2V (LiFePO4) battery then you will damage the battery and run the risk of fire. I can't find a 2600 mAh HGB (Zhuhai Hange Battery Tech) battery, but they don't make a 3.2V 18659 either. A 3.2V battery probably won't perform well in the TVape.

The important thing choosing a battery for the TVape is the discharge rate. It must be a high rate battery. It has the same requirements as the Thermovape products and the FlashVAPE, so you can search those threads for recommendations.

Thanks for your help Pakalolo, my HGB 18650 2600mah is coming from my dead fake pax (the heater don't heat anymore!), IDK if it's a 3.2v or 3.7v....any idea?

18650 (which are the cells commonly found in laptop battery packs) are 3.7v. But pay mind that there are two different kinds the regular ones and ones that are made for high drain devices (ones listed as IMR are the high drain ones.) I don't know for sure, but from what I do know about 18650 cells I'd guess that you need a high drain version. Has anyone measured the discharge rate of the T-Vape?

They also come in protected (guards against the battery shorting out and exploding and/or over-discharging ) and non-protected. Some devices have protection circuits built into them. No idea if the T-Vape does or not.

Also, beware buying from ebay or China based discount sites as there are a lot of fake batteries out there. What they do is take dead laptop batteries, strip out the cells, and re-label them as new. These cells at best aren't anywhere near capacity, and at worst are dangerous. Always buy from a reputable dealer; the cost difference is negligible.

Here is a list of actual sizes of 18650 cells. You should measure the one you have (be careful not to short it with the calipers!) and compare to make sure any new ones will fit. http://lygte-info.dk/review/batteries2012/Common18650Summary UK.html

Here is a good EU dealer. http://eu.nkon.nl/rechargeable/18650-size.html

Here is a thread from an e-cig forum about what can go wrong with batteries. The photos are freighting. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ures-serious-battery-failure-imr-18650-a.html

EDIT: Also, I wouldn't use the cell from the fake Pax if I were you. It most likely is also fake, and could catch on fire if the discharge rate of the T-Vape is high enough, basically turning it into a pipe bomb next to your face. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

Not all 18650s are 3.7V, that was my point. I have 10 3.2V 18650s within arm's reach. The VaporGenie Volta and the FlashVAPE Stage 1 both use 3.2V 18650s (LiFePO4). I should have clarified above when I mentioned the FlashVAPE; it can use 3.2V (Stage 1) or 3.7V (Stage 2). For the TVape 2.0 you want Stage 2 batteries. That should also tell you that the worst that will happen if you use a 3.2V battery in the TVape is that it will refuse to heat up, or if it does it will not reach vapourizing temperature.

IMR does not necessarily mean high discharge rate, it just indicates the battery chemistry (LiMn2O4). You definitely need a high discharge rate battery for the TVape. I'm pretty sure it will need at least 10A. If he got it from a fake Pax then it is almost certain to be a high rate battery.

True about other chemistries of 18650, although they aren't very common. IMR can be discharged at a higher rate than li-ion cells, and they don't vent with flame, so they are often used with high discharge devices.

As for the fake Pax cell, I wouldn't trust it is I highly doubt someone who is selling fake products would actually care about either sourcing the proper batteries or the safety of such. They are in it for quick cash.

Thanks for your answers guy, my fake pax battery is exactly the same than than the 18650's T-vape use, it's written on: HGB 18650 2600mah= fake pax
HGB 18650 2200mah= T-vape

But I'm agree with you Jack, i don't want to make a litlle bomb so near of my face!

I'm interested in descriptions of the air/vapour path for the TVape 2.0. Anyone?

pakalolo,

I think air inlets are both from the joint between the battery and the tube(as a e-cig or vape pens) and between the nipple and the tube.

The vapour path is stainless steel (wall of the tube) and "silicone" (the nipple) and there is a spring attached to the nipple, and , where the battery is connected to the tube there is a sort of silicone piece (built on the battery)to isolate the tube from the internals, so all the air is coming from the side of the tube imo no air is pulled through the internals...

paytonpenn

Level 30 Nature/Healer
@PPN is right, the air inlets are on the top of the oven; there are two. I've tried hard to block the airflow and have been unable to internally. You can easily block them from the outside of the TVape.

I believe the internal inlets to be where the deadzones are, you'll notice black rings. The spring helps keep the herb from blocking the top deadzone and air inlet.
You'll notice the bottom of the oven may not vape your herb, it still has a bit of a deadzone.

EDIT:
My battery test has completed, I get 40-45 minutes of usage. I was able to do 4 and half 10 minute sessions with me pressing and holding the button for the entire time after heat up. The Heatup is also included in the 10 minute sessions. I am feeling battery life wasn't improved with 2200mah battery. This is fine IMO, as the device finishes your herbs quicker and you can just swap the batteries. Pass through would be nice but some people can just use their T-Vape 1 for that.

Mines been preforming well with the shorttube for the most part, still using it at 390 (actually i take a couple hits before it turns green even, so a little below) and holding down when I need more vapor, doing that as many times as I can before no more vapor and a usually well/evenly browned load. I pretty much exclusively used through a bubbler/honeycomb ashcatch.

However, I have had more inconsistency with the longtube. It seems I can load it and get some really heavy hits. So heavy that I turn it off sooner than I would the shorttube (I can usually ride a shorttube out, unless I really pack it). However, when I come back to it, put it to 390, it gets way too hot. Smells terrible burning rubber/silicone smell (not from the mouthpiece even really, from like inside) so I turn it off. AVB is now charcoal, whole vape reeks and needs to air out.

This has happened twice to me, haven't used the longtube too much though. The shorttube has still been functioning fine I think, after having these incidents with the longtube. I think it happened to me the first time I used my shorttube as well. Maybe this really is more of useful as some sort of onehitter vape, but I thought I remember @paytonpenn saying he was able to come back to his bowls after a short session without a problem.

Anyone else notice any inconsistencies with their T-Vape performance?

One thing that would be nice regarding batteries would be a battery level indicator, but I agree with payt that the relatively weak battery life (~30+60min ish, haven't really tested so precisely) is a nonissue thanks to the replaceable batteries. Just need to buy some extras. This is another reason it reminds me of the Thermovape T1, though T-Vape does have better battery life than that (and takes one at a time).
