Anyone watching Halt and Catch Fire on AMC? If you're into computers and computer programming and innovation, it's a pretty damn good show to watch. As with any new show, it's going through some growing pains but this one looks to be really promising with great acting and some unique directing. Could be a winner.

^^ Agreed. He should definitely pick up an Emmy for BlackList. Kinda pick up where Cranston left off.

I'm not an expert but I have a strong opinion

I have been looking forward to this show just haven't had time to spend on it yet. Hope it is pretty decent.

We have been catching up on Always Sunny and the league lately.

24 is getting intense,
didn't miss a beat from its last run maybe even better now. The override device just blew up a chinese carrier with chloe's (involuntary) help, and the russians are after jack with the help of a white house traitor in a romantic triangle with him; also the prez (jack's only ally) has alzheimers. lol.

And I'm really digging halt and catch fire, that may be my new favorite show. With all of the crap on that's on tv these days, I'm glad they're still putting out a few quality programs worth my bandwidth.

And believe me that's all I want, is a few

Fuck. I'm in the middle of watching 24 now. Thanks for the goddamn spoiler.
I'm still having a hard time seeing Catelyn Stark getting thrown out of 5th floor office window after getting her throat slashed.

But yeah, lovin' Halt and Catch Fire. Lots of "tongue-in-cheek" going on in that show.

So we have a GOT thread, a Penny Dreadful thread, a TV Sci-Fi thread, ect. Thought it may be a good idea just to have an overall general TV thread.

So........

The Bridge on FX. Saw the first season. Great show. This season is starting off like gangbusters. I really like this show.

Tuned into Penny Dreadful as suggested by Vicki. LOVED the first episode. Watched 3 more. While it has some great acting, great set design, great costumes, etc, for some odd reason, I just can't seem to get invested (empathy) in any of the characters and if I can't do that, for me, it's just a waste of time to watch. That's not to say that its a bad show. It's not. It's done really well. It's just a show I can't seem to get into but I gave it 3 episodes. Just didn't click for me.

Lovin' The Bridge though.

Kinda goes to prove, at least for me, that no matter how well produced, written, acted, etc a show is, if I can't find a character that I can relate to and/or have empathy for, it just doesn't work.

Modnote: Thread merged into existing TV thread. :myday:

Vickie, I am going through and watching On Demand (Xfinity TV Cable) the different weekly episodes of Penny Dreadful. It's very well made. I like shows depicting scenes from long ago. I don't like all horror shows. I do like this. I'm curious if the character that said he was the devil is really the devil? I didn't see him use any devil like powers so far. Did anyone else notice that he looks similar to Brad Pitt?

Years ago I used to go over to the neighbor's house to watch Dark Shadows every day after school. My mom wouldn't let me watch it, because it was about witches. It was a soap operas type show about a vampire named Barnabas Collins. It was real campy and cheaply done. I think it was on like ABC and it was really popular. It aired for about 3 years or so back around 1970 or a little before. Some years back I bought the VHS version of some of the episodes. It was fun to look back. Authenticity has come a long way.

My mom used to watch the Wizard of Oz with me every year when it was on. Mom loved Judy Garland, she loved the song Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Mom was a very Christian woman. For some reason she thought Dark Shadows was an evil show. A bad influence for her precious daughter.

On the whole, I just don't consume television, or movies very much. I prefer non-fiction. I will make a rare exception for an outstanding show that suits my taste like "Breaking Bad" and I will absolutely be watching the spinoff "Better call Saul". GOT is so beautiful in its pageantry, costuming, choreography, set locations etc that I will continue to watch but really the story has almost lost me. As it sits now, I'm glad Tyrion shot his father on the shitter with a crossbow, that felt good to watch. I tried to get in to "Mad Men" a long time ago but after 1 season I got bored, so I am picky.

I am a big fan of Arrested Development, one of my alltime favorite comedy shows. Love the crude humor and the cast, espacially Dr Tobias and Gob are hillarious. Think I watched the whole 3 seasons nearly 5 times and still could start again without a reason anytime.
I think it gets me because as a kid I always wondered what a magic life it would be to live in when money isn't a problem the whole time, this show lifts me up because I laugh my ass off watching the results. :D

Hope they translate the fourth season anytime soon...

Hey Hey
Hey, sometimes the American version is better than the source material.

*snip*

(I also dig the Australian version, but it suffers from lack of Wood. :brow:)

You're drawing a long bow there my friend. I would imagine you not understanding a lot of Aussie cultural references woud draw you to your wrong conclusion;) Aussie one was the tits:tup:

My picks are nearly all American though.

Cop Dramas; The Shield, The Wire.

Adult Cartoon; Rick and Morty, Southpark.

Adult Comedy; It's always Sunny in Philadelphia, Community.

Kids Cartoon; Adventure Time, Rocko's Modern Life.

Scifi; Tenant and Eccleston Dr Who's(Matt Smith's storyline was crappy, excitedly hoping Capaldi delivers), Both Galacticas except for the last 10 minutes (WTF?)

My favourites though are the British sitcoms and series like The Mighty Boosh, Father Ted, Ideal, The Inbetweeners , The IT Crowd, The Young Ones and Black Books. Everything there is immensely re-watchable and brilliant.
