I thought I should probably just make a post here. I really need some help finding the best flame based vaporizer for me. (for hurricane season, just in case) I have lost all use of my left thumb. I still have use of my right hand (dominant hand) and the fingers on my left hand. I have been very angry and frustrated as of late because I cannot grip things well, and end up dropping a lot of things.

I need it to be flame based and easy for someone like me to use. All opinions are welcome and appreciated!

Sorry to hear about your thumb Vicki. If you have to lose the use of a digit, that's the one you'd miss the most. The Vapor Genie is an old reliable, and a lot of people love the Lotus.

I had not even considered the Hammer. Is the button easy to press down? I guess it wouldn't matter because I would have to use it with my right hand, would be impossible with my left hand.

@max thank you, those are on my list for consideration too. It would be impossible for me to hold the Lotus like she does. I would have to balance it in the palm of my left hand.

I find it easy to press down, its slightly harder if you have to use your pinky, but your pinky could probably do it.

That looks inconvenient, you wouldn't be able to use the Hammer in your left hand, but you can grab the stem with the four fingers for insertion. I have just done it about 10 times and I am now pretty good at it. Though my left hand is my dominant hand.

You may also want to get a wooden stem from Ed. Just to be safe.

The way I use the hammer with the stem always attached I can pretty much one hand it through most use.
I also use my index finger and not my thumb to depress the trigger, I think I could maybe use it with no thumbs for a couple of hits before my hand cramps up.

A couple of years ago I woke up one day to find I had lost the use of my left arm from the elbow down(got it back near a year later) and found I had a hard time with the VG classic and Mflb and used a wispr with no problem, I find the hammer as easy to use as the wispr. I wouldn't recommend the wispr now-a-days ( maybe if you get one for $50 or less) since the hammer is so much better IMHO.

A great off the grid or 'opps the grid is down' vaporizing tool.

If you have waterpipe (especially one with a bent mouthpiece), the lotus is very easy to use one-handed. Depending on the height of the bong you can either hit it from a table sitting down or hold it between your legs.

Salutatlions Vicki,

I really need some help finding the best flame based vaporizer for me.

How about building it on your own specifications?

I'd invite you to read this if my idea sounds sufficiently pleasant:

...and then i'd humbly suggest paying some attention to this short but meaningful excerpt:

Finally, this instructive answer:

Euh... Please someone correct me as required but doesn't this open the door to some cooperative possibilites, like some FC contest perhaps, which would self-finance itself with any benefit made, for example. Excess money could go to FC prizes for their participating members, whatever, etc.

Now hear the really crispy part: i propose a Vicky Pipe Contest, though i'm far from being able to organize anything like that myself. But the resources are there and i'm sure we have persons who would be willing to get invelvoled into such challenging project.

After all:

So, why not an FC shop, just for you Vicky! Tell us what you need and the FC brains will conceive it on demand!!

Imagine...

How about a similar strategy though you'd determine what works or not - to find a customized solution for you?

So. What do you say! They don't have to supply the glassware too... Meaning cannabic cleanliness & safety can be handled separately, just like it was implemented on these illustrations.

:peace:

P.S.: Veranda time again.

Thank you @Egzoset I just need to get something that is easy for me to use. :) I'm not sure how I would even go about giving instructions to have a custom vaporizer built, or if that is even necessary? I really don't want to be any trouble or hassle for anyone.

I hope everyone was able to see the video I posted. If not, maybe the pictures will help. The splint I am required to wear all the time needs to factored in as well because it does get in the way some. It is a hard surface, and is slick.

As I was watching the video @max posted, I was thinking, "I could never do that." Hold it and light it like she is doing. I know I would end up dropping it. I looked at the Hammer, and that actually seems feasible because I'm only using one hand to hold it. That type of vaporizer is what I probably need. Not necessarily that model and type, but it seems to fit best so far. Are there more like that? Is the Hammer a vaporizer I can take a hit and set down and come back to? Or, is it more like my Solo where I need to commit myself to a short session?

So, lots of votes for the Hammer?

The Prometheus is an interesting vaporizer.

Ed is also making stems for the Hammer. I don't think the Solo stem will work with it.

Sorry for the back to back posts. Snappo must have posted the exact second I did.

I was curious if my Solo stems would fit the Hammer. I put in a message to him to ask him not long ago.

What kind of stem comes standard with the Hammer? I see that the Hammer comes with a nail. For concentrates?

mod note: Merged.

The hammer comes with two glass lock on stems, the solo bowl is too big for it. The nail is an actual finishing nail to stir the bowls nothing fancy.

The Prometheus pipe is only a pipe and very overpriced poorly designed pipe, a friend had one and broke the glass stem the first time he carried it in his pocket along with a dime.

After watching this video review, I'm kinda leary now. She says she can smell and taste butane. :(

Salutations,

I can see why it's being mentioned.

The Prometheus is an interesting vaporizer.

Sorry, it's not!

The Prometheus pipe is only a pipe...

Exactly and nobody here has even suggested to actually buy one.

The 3D additive manufacturing process could be used to adapt an existing vaporizer, for example. Suppose Vicky wants a bigger button then this resource could be a solution.

Forget the pipe, look at the concept and how it fits in...

Butane vents out of the top hole so you can smell it, but the heat port is out of the way of butane so you're less likely to taste it.

With convection, dabs are great and if you miss the way the nail hits you can recreate that with your Hammer.

Now I am considering an Iolite WISPR too. Thoughts? Or the Iolite 2.0.
