Can someone help me with my solo not turning on? When I would turn it on, it would just beep then auto shut down on its own. Also when it was charging it was constantly beeping (I tested this with and without the battery attached and same thing happened) I am not sure what this could mean.

@Lizard King I got it from @Pipes Isn't it cool!?

Indeed, it is. I see @Pipes includes one free with the various kits that he offers. Now, where can I find something similar for my f-Bomb? Hmmm...

Quick question! How does the capacity of one of Ed's wooden stems (looking at the Bloodwood specifically) compare to the capacity of a stock stem? Come to that, what are the capacities of the stock stems?

I used a friend's Granadillo for the first time the other night. It definitely holds more than the bowls on the stock stems and GonG, but I'm not sure how much more. It was very tasty by the way. I'm thinking of picking up a WonG from Ed as a tasty back-up/switch-up to my PVHEGonG.

I think I remember reading that the stock stems can hold .2 or so. I've been meaning to weigh a load for ages but I keep forgetting. Not sure why.

From your earlier post.

I bought the Solo off of a buddy, and everything was great (I used it for about 2 weeks), fast forward a little, now the Solo will not turn on no matter what.

I have no idea what is wrong w/ it when I would turn it on, it would just beep then auto shut down on its own. Also when it was charging it was constantly beeping (I tested this with and without the battery attached and same thing happened) I am not sure what this could mean.

I mainly use the Solo on setting 4/5

Here is also a small video that I took -

I think @fubar had taken a stab at it here.

You would probably get more eyeballs by posting to the portable devices/solo forum, but FWIW: Removing the battery effectively resets the device so a reset won't make any difference. If you have a voltmeter, measure the wall wart output voltage - those little switching power supplies sometimes fail and if the voltage is low, the device won't charge or heat. Otherwise, my guess is that you need to register a warranty repair with arizer - they provide excellent support for a year - try their web site and register using the device serial number.

IMO, there are two most likely possibilities here. To rule out the supply, you could try a different 12 volt 1 amp+ supply to see if works any better or if you have a car charger would suffice. Of course I think a bad battery could also do this. The Solo is just not getting feedback that the battery is taking a charge and giving a little show to let you know it's not happy.
To check the battery in a simple way, If you have an automotive 12 volt indicator light bulb, you can see if the battery can light it up. Or any 12 volt light and around 10 watt power would show if battery can push at least a reasonable current. Now not a head lamp of course. (a little too demanding)
Maybe @OF might have a different way to check the battery. If using a meter and get 7 - 8 volts then you need to check while under some load as well. This is where the light bulbs come in.

If you can a PA supply, lower voltage/ higher current, the unit should work with the battery pulled as you showed in video.
BTW, supplying 12 volts with no battery tells us nothing as this is not a valid condition. 12 volt charging mode with nothing to charge?

Hope this helps and good luck,

I spent about 30mins troubleshooting it and it finally came back to life. (I also kept disconnecting reconnecting the battery) and it eventually landed on just Idle and Charging then the lights came back.

Though I don't believe this is any type of fix but it is progress. Any other ideas as to what might be causing this?

I think it's a battery issue. How far did you discharge it? How many LEDs were showing for battery level when it went south?

Expecting it to work on the charger without the battery is a non starter. There's not enough power to do that without a good battery.

What happens when you connect your battery and switch it on? Reason I'm asking as I've had a few defective solos and managed to find temp fixes for most issues (none permanent till now).

you can try open the chamber (at your own risk), the screws on top, mine splits into 3 parts. essentially the stainless steel chamber seems to be glued onto the heating element (and sensor), and then encased. I normally lightly tap that part on a wood desk and blow under the base (near the heating element).

When i put it all back together it starts working. Get a few days and then back to square 1.

Please note i only do this cause i live in Asia now, and its a hassle to send back to PIU or Arizer. Also i am no expert do the above at your own risk.

Something sitting on the fence wich could still be the two possibilies.
If the charger is riding the edge, things like different outlets, unit temperature and even contacts could be looked at.

If batteries, I'd suspect one of the two cells is weak putting the two cells "out of balance" and the bad would be continuously driven into the ground on the low end. Now there is a little circuit board mounted to the outside if battery pack. You likely saw this. Consists of a thermo fuse and some circuit that does some comparison of the two cells and adds some kind of protection. No idea how but can bet the effect would be quickly noticed by the user.
Explaining why it started to work is a just a stab in the dark here. The cell that had been charged up completely has dropped "enough" to let this comparative circuit allow the battery operate. If correct, I'd bend the don't top up completely rule and treat like a new unit. Leave it on charger for a good 12 hours plus. This will allow trickle charge to BOTH cells to ensure both have full charge.

Might help?

edit. with @OF going with the batteries I think you have solid ground to heavily suspect them.

Good luck,

When nothing was working it would just do Idle and 7, like normal startup but then a shutdown and this just kept happening (I had to keep repeating this process until I saw Idle and Charging instead of 7).

As for the battery I am not sure how far exactly it was discharged, but when it decided to work all 7 lights went on (indicting full charge)

Sometimes when I charge for long hours it makes a beep then shuts itself off (it has never done this) could this also be battery related?

All of the these issues came out of nowhere which all started today

Yeah, after I posted this I saw the Vaporpedia entry on the Solo, which says the stock stems hold "approximately .1-.2 g depending on how finely the material is ground and how tightly it is packed." I'm only vaping 1/3-1/2 a bowl at a time right now, so it sounds like the wood stems might be that bit too big for me if they're larger as you say. So damn pretty, though!

Why don't you use a glass disc?

I'd say so, does sound a little odd. Maybe it times out if a full charge can't be reached in "X" amount of time. Like one cell not coming up completely? In your case, I'd ignore it once to push the weak cell a bit longer into charging. Of course at a little expense of pushing the good cell over it's normal top up. But this is also a function of that little circuit on the battery pack. Would shut the unit down if goes TOO far.
Which would bring us full circle.

Yeah this whole thing is very strange, as shown on the video, (Goto 0;15)
this is what would also happen when the battery was inside of it. Constant beeps while the charger was attached to it

Because this is the first I've heard of them, haha! Any chance you could give me a little more info?

I've used these for more than 2 years to reduce load size and enhance the flavor profile.

Be creative!

Do a search on ebay: glass filter screens or just google

What batch # is it ? Just collecting data on this .
I haven't heard much issues on the later replacement batches
M1T and M1Y's . But several on the earlier M1A's , B's , C's ,...

Also is it the old version or the new version ( use while charging )
There's a theory that using it while charging may be the cause
of faulty battery .

You bought it off a friend , if he can produce a Proof of Purchase
from an Authorized vendor . You should be able to exercise your
warranty thru Arizer . If Not , you May get away with just providing the serial # located at the bottom .

And lastly , try a different charger , who knows .
There has been reports of yours and heating problems posted in the past 30 pages or so .

here's the e-mail address , ask for Kevin .

When in supply try a PVHES shorty stem from planet vape. It takes less herb, I have a bent stem shorty and a reg size PVHES straight stem. I have been using my shorty lately, I really like it. I hope to buy a couple extra when the glass is back at PV.

I break glass too.:cuss:

Check PV now, They had a few types of PVHSs in stock early this morning.

Still no stealth/Whip adaptor though, stilllllllllll waiting.

Thank you RUDE BOY! I just ordered 2 straight shorty turbo PVHES stems from PV it looks like I took the last of these because I rechecked after I ordered and they were no longer in stock. The straight PVHES w/ turbo is in stock I see. That's the only one for now. Keep checking if you're interested.

Friends helping friends, that's what it's all about.:peace::leaf:

I have the M1B so I guess that this is an older version of the unit and I took the liberty to email Arizer, still not reply back though

I hate the shorty.
If I just take a curved or straight stem and use a glass disc I reduce the load and obtain great flavor.

If you like the shorty good for you!
Some things suck for me and other people love them.

Were all different.

I just have a way to make things work for me. Other's have their way.

Do whatever floats your boat!

It's all good!
I break glass too.:cuss:
I broke a stem every week for a few months.

The best thing was when @OF recommended the 113 seal under the cap to hold the seal in. The PHVES made it all flow just right. I have straight ones and one curved one.
They all work well. The curved one is great for doing the HAMSTER!

I would get the latest greatest invention however my SOLO is so dialed.

Basically why reinvent the wheel?
