Deja Vu's Comprehensive Guide & Discussion:
The Vaporisation of Herbs & Plants for Remedial / Aromatherapy Purposes

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

This aims to be a comprehensive guide to the effects and benefits of vaporising herbs, plant matter, roots and flowers based on my own experience with them & extensive research.

For the experimentation; I have used an ARIZER Ultimate Q with no modifications or bubbler attachments (unless stated otherwise) and have thoroughly cleaned the device and all relevant tubing for each different herb to prevent the flavour/effect of one plant interfering or altering that of another.

Vaporising is done indoors but in a well ventilated area at an average room temperature of 18-20 degrees Celsius (64-68 Fahrenheit).

All reports on the effects/flavours of the herbs are only based on the experiences of primarily myself and for certain herbs; my partner, (23 year old male & 21 year old female, both healthy, Vegan, in touch with our bodies & senses and open-minded) and our history is that of two extremes. She has never really smoked anything or been a 'smoker'/'vaporiser', and I am an EX-seasoned and experienced weed smoker (bongs/blunts) who hasn't smoked anything in 2 years, and has never vaporised anything. That being said; I have done a considerable amount of research on the proper vaporising temperature of the many herbs as well as techniques. I am aiming to get the standard desired effect/flavour out of all of these, and the reports are based on multiple uses of the herb and not just a single session.

If anyone has anything to add that will be relevant to this 'research' please let me know! I want a proper, comprehensive guide to the remedial, medicinal and aromatic properties of a VAST range of plant matter out there from a variety of sources.

The actual list of herbs and their descriptions & effects will be in the 2nd and 3rd posts. This is so that I can edit and update information until it's perfect. I've reserved those posts for when I will inevitably need them due to the large amount of text and images that will make up this guide.

Herb: Lavender (Lavandula)
Vape Temp: 100°C to 125°C (212°F to 257°F)
Technique: Heat your vape / bowl for a bit at max temperature (260C on my Arizer Extreme Q) and then place the herbs into the bowl and allow them to get nice and heated (Use a bit pinch of the herb. Not too much though so that it will restrict the airflow or overfill the bowl). Drop the temperature of the vape to the recommended 110C and begin gently inhaling. Do so until you are satisfied with the dosage (Roughly 10 minutes of regular use) or crank it up to 150-200 for a short-lived but more intense dose of the lavender. At these higher temperatures, you may find the essential oils of the herb collecting in your throat, and due to the rich amount of oils in this plant is is ideal for producing slightly more visible vapor than your average herb. This level of vapor is still nothing compared to what a cannabis vaper is used to seeing.
Vapor Info: Gets a 2 out of 5 in regards to the amount of visible vapor it produces. The taste and relaxing effects are evident as soon as the herb has heated up and the first hit is taken at anything over 110 degrees (Celcius).
Getting in the higher temps (150C+) produces a more visible vapor which can help gauge how much of it's essential oils and actives you are taking in.
Other techniques: Try filling your vape bowl as much as you are comfortable with (the more the better) and put it on 90 degrees Celsius. Turn it on the first fan setting and aim the whip in the air or in your general direction. It will produce a good 10 minutes of pleasantly scented air flowing your way.
Taste: Strong floral tones to it, and maybe a little bit soapy. It's aroma is what is important though, and the aroma is wonderful.
Remedial medicine value: Assists in the recovery of skin conditions. (Fungal, eczema) but is primarily useful for relaxation and the promotion of sleep. Alleviates stress and anxiety also.
History: It's documented use goes back 2,500 years as an Egyptian perfume. It is also often mentioned in the Bible in relation to purification of the body, and is used today in medicine, clothing and aroma products.
Where to buy it: http://www.australherbs.com.au/shop/category/?search_custom_tsv=lavender
(Buy a 250-500 gram dried bag of the herb. This is an amount that should last 1 year of REGULAR use, and a lifetime of spontaneous / specifically medicinal use during times of great stress / sleeplessness )

Conclusion: Overall, this herb is great for a quick chillout sesh. I use it when I lie down to sleep but find myself tossing and turning with minor pains or mental worries. It's always worth the effort to get up, turn on the computer and browse FC while I vape a nice big pinch of it and slowly fall into a meditative state of light relaxation. The aroma helps in this department as well, as the natural scent of fresh lavender is known to induce instant tranquility. When dried and heated up to a decent temperature, this can make your whole room smell phenomenal and makes for a very peaceful environment.
10/10 herb! A must for anybody who owns a vape and enjoys their aromatherapy and general relaxation. Please note however that this herb does not SEDATE you as much as 'other' herbs that you are used to vaporizing ;) but it still relaxes you. The known fact that 2 drops of essential lavender oil on the pillow will give you a good sleep is true, but I prefer to vape it before bed to feel its effects immediately.

I checked that one out, but this is actually going to be a list of every known herb (that I can get my hands on) and every relevant bit of information I can gather and experience first-hand in regards to vaporising. There are many things like this online, but it will also serve as a discussion thread and also to help myself learn more about these herbs by documenting it all :)

Set out similarly to this: (Except way nicer)

Herb: Damiana (damianius whateverthefuckitscalledius)
Effects: List of all relevant effects, tranquility, body high, etc
Taste: mouth numbing, minty, like a strong black tea
Theraputic value: blah blah
Remedial medicine value: blah blah
History: blah blah
Where to buy it: www.example-of-a-random-herb-store.com/damiana
Picture:

edit: specific vaporisation temperatures will also be provided, with detailed instructions on how to get the most flavour/effect from the herb :)

Some herbs have extremely potent essential oils, and will leave a lingering taste and smell for a while. One thing that might be good is to note 'serving size' to account for this. The other thing I would like to see is what temperature each herb vaporizes at, so that someone new to an herb has a starting point. Just my :2c::peace:

Thanks, that's a great contribution. Optimal vape temp, reccomended vape temp, max and minimum temps will all be supplied for each herb, and also approximate serving size for each herb based on the potency and amount of oil content.

Thank you!

Make sure you take care of yourself. Some herbs might be dangerous to vape, do your homework don't make yourself sick or worse in the name of science and research. You could even have an allergic reaction to something you didn't know you were allergic to.

I'll take all precautions, don't worry :) I am starting at a minimum dose and working my way up to the 'standard' dose for one person depending on what I'm vaporizing and have ambulance health insurance cover and a 'whatever doesn't kill me makes me stronger, and whatever kills me was just my fate' attitude. I appreciate your concern a lot, very sweet of you :)

I'd never heard that before. Whenever it has been burnt as an incense around the house it did give a very lightheaded and carefree feeling. Very excited to vape it!

I know mugwort (the ingredient in moxa) has been used for thousands of years medicinally in Chinese medicine. Some applications involved smoking, as for asthma, particularly the kind that worsens in cold weather.

I have tried mugwort, and that herb is also in the cart for my next herb order. I smoke it for vivid dream, (and I mean VIVID!) and also when i smoke it I get more colour appreciation. Like if I'm just looking out at the backyard the colours will jump out at me in full vibrancy and detail. Excited to see the effects and taste when vaporised.

Not yet but I do have some Skullcap 1:5 extract which I picked up for the purpose of sedation and relaxation.

Lemongrass essential oil in my ssv aroma dish is excellent when vaping mmj!
:smug::clap:
Way better than mangoes.
Essential oils are a bit expensive.. I will save all that stuff until after the herbs are done :)
