Cheap High Quality Bubbler

I found a pinhole in the weld of the upper connection of the U shaped tube on the Kathy recycler, it leaks a tiny bit of air, but doesn't seem to leak water or effect performance in use, but I do hear it chirping away when I hit it. Hopefully it will not get worse, I love this little recycler...

I wonder with a hole that small if you can just patch it up yourself? The first thing that comes to mind is the stuff that fixes cracked windshields.

But then again my mind is not sober right now so please 'scuse me.

yeah, I've been trying to think of something like that myself. I can plug it with my finger, if I hold it just right, but really it doesn't effect the performance that I can tell. I think I am more concered with it breaking, but it feels like a pretty sturdy weld... maybe aquarium glue sealant??

Please excuse my immaturity for one second.

Grown up hat on: Unfortunately I don't have any glass expertise. But I'd think the defect should be sealed before it spreads right? There looks to be a lot of cheap alternative "glass sealants" as repairs on amazon -- one of them is probably the type you allude to. I'd probably be conscious of a product that can be healthy for inhalation? It's probably negligible but I've gotten overly paranoid about harmful chemicals due to my health in recent months. :\

Maybe an experienced glass blower can chime in?

I have a piece that had a pinhole leak in it from GBD.
It was small enough that I couldn't see it with the naked eye, and it didn't seem to affect the hit, but if I left the piece with water in it, and came back 20+ mins later, it would have dumped all its water out...

I went to my local hardware store and got some glass epoxy. It sealed up the hole nicely and hasn't given me any issues since.
The epoxy was for repairing drinking glasses etc. so I'm fairly sure it is food safe...
It has minimal contact with the water/vapor, so I'm happy with the safety of it for this application.

Got my GB-186. First impressions, are it is cleaner than my Do20 was. At first glance it looks very nice. But it has flaws. A scratch here, a little glass booger there, imperfect welds, slightly crooked perc. I don't think @ataxian will like this one because the mouthpiece is kind of bongish in its large diameter. Overall I like it. 2 ROOR Logos:shrug:.one black and one white.
Here is a video of the un-boxing. Warning it is upside down, and kind of long but you can fast forward. I couldn't figure out how to flip it over...

Here are some pics.

Here's a SloMo water test.
Finally the
MILKSHOT. @THC SCIENTIFIC might be interested in this part. Persei with 7.4v KISS cart doing the milking! This thing has almost zero drag! Even to overcome the stemless it still just purrs. The perc seems to fire everywhere despite the top matrix being crooked.

Nice post. Thanks.
Where can I find the adapters you used to connect your Persei to the bubbler? I've been looking for a way to use my pen just like that.

I got them from Oregonglassblower on Ioffer.

They were not specifically listed so I put the male version in my cart and asked in the comments section if he could make it with a female joint. He replied quickly and the price was the same as the listed male fitting. I also asked him to make the "ball" part a little bigger so I can watch the vapor. The first set that I ordered were much smaller. Also he gives a 10%FC discount. Put items in cart then "make offer" based on 10% off of his listed prices. Shipping is included in the prices. Mike usually makes them the next day and his shipping is usually quick also.

Looking back through the thread, trying to determine who found this beauty.

Looks like it was @Vaporgin. who first found the D020

This thread is 2 years old but has nearly tippled in size since finding the D020, while my glass collection has quadrupled in size,.

Thanks Vaporgin,

I got the JH010 in today from Btoc_jewelry.

It is the same as the toro micro knock off I reviewed earlier, but the percs are showerheads. It is a lot smoother compared to the double vertical inline percs. $45

Pairs nice with the cano bag ;)

BoogerMan, I've been looking for a convenient way to hookup my volcano bag to glass, and it looks like you have a great method here! What are the specs on that 90degree adapter? What size is the female joint? and what size is the male joint? Do you have a link for that adapter?

I think it started a little further back on page 80 when the Aliexpress was discovered. http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/cheap-high-quality-bubbler.5255/page-80#post-440471 too bad the links don't work anymore... I still have and sometimes use the aliex- honeycomb and single showerhead bubbler... this is where I noticed the beginning of the china GAS

I was tempted by that piece but it wasn't until the D020 where I stopped looking for my next high end bubbler.

I used aquarium silicone to repair my GBD Frit. Works Great!! Local Glass Blower wanted $150 to repair. Thats original cost

May I ask how it broke?

I'm pretty sure that Aquarium silicone is no different than Pure Silicone (food grade) for anybody interested in doing repairs.

The detachable mouthpiece dropped and kissed the tube at an angle on the top of the tube.
Funny because the mouthpiece is made of thinner glass than the tube. But now working flawlessly

I am sure there are better deals out there, but I can have this at my door in 2 days... for sealing the pin hole in the recycler... http://www.amazon.com/All-Glass-Aquariums-15905650038-Silicone/dp/B0002ASD2K/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1400872391&sr=8-4&keywords=aquarium silicone

I'm sure it won't take much, so I don't really need a lot. Hope it works.

I have been using the 187/claisen/sublimator combo and really liking it.

Sorry to see the 186 had a bad joint... hope you get that worked out. How tall is that piece? looks bigger than the others, but it really is hard to tell for sure.

Thanks @loggerknees. The female size can be whatever fits your rig. Then the male size is 18mm. Or you can get a male to male adapter if using a waterpipe. So to connect the bag to the 18mm male joint I used non toxic vinyl tubing. I believe I got it at Home Depot. I don't remember the exact size tubing. I can measure when I get home. I just brought the adapter with me and found tubing that fit snug on the 18mm male side :)
