reclaimers....worthwhile?

Greetings!
My question today is about reclaimer attachments for oil rigs....the kind that have a small vial or container under the nail. Do they function well? Or just a novelty? Aesthetically I can dig them but if there aren't any functional benefits I wouldn't bother. Thanks in advance!

I think that mostly depends on what kind of dabber you are, reclaimers are functional but whether or not it would be worth the investment to you is subjective. Personally I don't use a torch and nail all that much anymore to consume concentrates I normally use my coil on a nemesis mech mod. When i did dab more frequently I used small BB sized dabs 1-2 times a day, so a reclaimer would have taken me like a year to get any sizable amount of claim in the jar. If however you are consuming upwards of a .5g or more per day via a nail/skillet or doing them Godzilla sized dabs. That reclaimer will fill up pretty quick and would make a very convenient way to harvest the claim.

Solid advice. I love the nail and don't see myself seriously getting into a portable rig for some time. On the other hand I pull 2small dabs a day at the most so it probably wouldn't be all that worth it to me. I kinda want one anyway because glass=cool.

Ya I know what you mean, I always really liked the Erris Wheel Reclaimer:

I don't have an actual reclaimer but I like to melt the oil out of my healthstone every so often. Aside from just keeping your piece free of fat oil globs running down the stem it's great for baking with. Especially considering it's 100% pure oil that would've otherwise gone to waste.

I usually wait for a good amount so I can share but even if you just have like .2-.5 g worth of reclaim that's equivalent to several grams of bud - quite potent for a single dose.

@Puffers why oh why did you have to post that? Seriously? That thing is a work of freaking art and now I want it. Shame...shame on you.

Kidding of course. Well mostly anyway. Thanks for the GAS flare up!

I have one of the 90 degree reclaimers by Grav. Works awesome. Before I was able to fill it I ran out of fresh concentrates and had about 2mm of reclaim in the jar. I dabbed everything in that jar until I got more concentrates. The reclaim is quite potent. I dab in the morning and at night on my rig. I filled up one of the glass containers in about a month and a half after I killed that 2mm of reclaim. Its still attached to the rig. The rest of the reclaimer piece tubing has a bunch of claim in it that I can chase down to the container with a torch.

One thing about the jar that comes with it is most stoppers will go really far into the jar. I have 2 jars, because I got a 45 degree adapter and a 90 degree and some 14mm stoppers. The stoppers extend about halfway into the jar. Anyone know where to get a 14mm glass stopper that isn't quite so long?

Most of what would be reclaim gets burned off my nail or skillet between dabs. I keep a little bit of it for seasoning purposes, but usually can't stand the taste of reclaim. :worms:

This post makes no sense. LuLz whats left on your nail after the dab and gets burned off when you retorch the nail again is not reclaim and it ain't what we are talking about.

So it sounds like these are fairly effective at catching reclaim as opposed to it just traveling down the air path?

I often make no sense. What I mean is what most people reclaim, I just torch off, because the taste is unfavorable. I only get reclaim of any amount when the dab is too large to begin with. But hey, those are cool looking jars!

Well... if it's going down the air path it's not collecting reclaim at all ;)

Basically if you dab a lot (multiple grams a week) it's worth it. Think about it this way: if it costs $25 for the reclaimer and $25 for a gram of wax, are you going to see a gram's worth of wax go into the reclaim? If you use it enough that it will then yeah, the $25 got you its worth in wax. If you barely dab and don't get a lot of build up underneath the nail, and it takes a month for you to get enough... might as well just buy the wax.

Again, your post makes 0 sense in relation to the topic. Reclaim is NOT whats left on top of the nail after an excessively large dab. Reclaim is the vapors that re-condense in the air path and drain down to the catch.

You can also reclaim all the stuff that gets trapped in water bubbler section if you use a bubbler. Reclaim is perfect for edibles.

im going to be getting at least a drop down... which on an oil rig it will function the same as a claim catcher...

my purpose is to harvest untainted claim for adding to peanutbutter.... its my current running edible of choice...

but any time I claim from inside an oil rig it fouls the taste (of the peanutbutter)
I think it has to do with the ammount of water contained... not having a discussion about that here

I digress, my point was that if you want it for a purpose it doesnt matter what others do or dont do with theirs.

grab one and use that puppy!
