Gear Omni Nail by Santa Cruz Shredder for 109$

The head is machined in two parts and bad luck for me I got it separated from a season/hot torching after I received it. So they send me a new one. I have been careful not to overheat but the two parts are moving, it's not a tight fit, I can turn all the way. I just hope this one doesn't end up in two pieces like the first.
I'm having the same issue. At first the top would move only slightly, then 360 freedom, now it will lift like a mm from the other half. I can only hope it doesn't fall completely apart, but I know it probably will if it happened to a meticulous dude like Roger.

The shaft is a bit wobbly too at first but becomes sturdy once oil builds up on the threads. I find this is less of a concern than a wobbly base.
That's how I felt, kept my gripe to the major one.

Yipes! Does anybody know the warranty on these nails? I am trying to find the info on SCS website now.

Edit: I emailed SCS to see what they had to say about the degrading of the Omni. Will post response as soon as i get it.

You describe it even better, I can lift a mm too. I hope it will stay in one part. I don't like to worry about it. Disappointing, it's expensive, made with titanium, should be fucking sturdy !

I did, they never responded to me. Lucky enough massdrop has taken care of the issue.

Haven't seen this on my own nail yet, but I'll be on the lookout.. Does it start with the top spinning?

As far as the wobbly goes, two dabs down and it tightens up the threads enough it won't rattle.. only problem is I typically dunk it in ISO after a couple of dabs.. Perhaps I should save it for the glass? :)

UPDATE--After using the SCS website to contact them to see if there is a warranty for the Omni, and alerting them about the spinning heads issue some are having, here is the response I received from SCS.

"We sell replacement nail heads but to answer your question the we would replace if somone has a legitimate complaint with a dated receipt"

Short and straight to the point. That was the complete reply. The repondents name was in the subject line of the email and that was that.

It only fits 3 of my 6 18mm males pieces. Don't fit on any of my 3 18mm female dewaars. Good on all 14mm males/females.

@Monsoon How much of a difference the carb cap makes ?

My main use for the carb cap is making sure I don't waste any of the dab and can finish all/most of it in one inhale. I usually heat it up until the center cup is orange, wait 10-20 seconds and then dab. I can take bigger hits and not have any unvaped oil left on the nail after and I'm finding my nail is staying cleaner too because of that. The cap also constricts the airflow so some rigs will perform much better due to that change.

When I got it I actually thought the top part of the head was threaded. So far it hasn't been an issue though it would be nice if they could tighten it down in future revisions.

Boy, the answer you got was unprofessional, vague and brusque. Could you ask them how much they are charging for the replacement heads?

I thought the answer they gave was straight to the point.
I'm glad you think so! Maybe you won't mind definitively answering the questions this straight answer left with me? I bought my nail online and was never given a paper receipt, what do I do? Or, I do have a paper receipt... where do I send it? Is the cap splitting in half after being used for a few weeks a "legitimate complaint"?

I am so surprised mine has not with the amount of use it has seen. Guess it only a matter of time.

I was set out a brand new replacement top from SCS, at no charge. After my initial email response(posted above), I was sent another by a different person from the company. I was asked to provide my address and was even sent out tracking info when it shipped. I believe another member here also received one(it's up to them to identify themselves if they want).

It looks to be of the same shape, size, quality, etc., as the original one. Hopefully this one lasts a good while. I never flame it near glowing red so I am hoping I just got one from a bad batch or something. I still think this is one of the best nails out there that I have owned/tried. And I am glad to know SCS warrant it if something goes wrong.

i got an omni nail and the top piece of the head is spinning.
i contacted them and they sent out another head piece
and after 5-6 times heating, it now spins just like the 1st one.
i sent them another email to see what they do about the 2nd piece spinning also

Exactly the same here. Massdrop replaced the whole nail but the second nail also spins. My first head got separated in two pieces !

orders@santacruzshredder.com is where i sent my video

can you take a pic of the flip side thanks
I tried to contact SCS via their website but they never answered. Massdrop has taken care of the replacement. The remplacement head spins, but is at least still in one piece, not like the first.

Since the drop is back on, did anyone who bought it before NOT have the problem with the spinning head? It sounded like even some of the replacements had the same problem. Not fitting well on an 18M fitting is one thing, but the head coming apart is unacceptable.
