Fill your bong with slush! (idea) (super cooled water)

So when I was high yesterday, I came across a method to make supercooled water. Basically, you get an unopened bottle of distilled water (the bottle must be free of defects too I believe, so not a mashed up one). Throw it in the freezer, and if the water is pure enough, it will supercool. Basically, it drops below the freezing point of water without freezing. When you pour it over a cube of ice, the water instantly freezes when it comes into contact with the ice and forms a slushy mixture. I think by now you can see where this is going. It's nice to put ice cubes in your bong, but some people have bongs with very small mouth holes, so it's hard to fit a lot of ice in there. So my idea is to put a very small piece of ice in the bong, then pour supercool water into it so it hits the ice, then freezes upward and basically fills the bong with slush. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to very soon, when I stop being lazy and go buy bottled water. Anybody have any input on this? Have you tried it before? If so, how did it go?

I don't think it's distiled water though, just mineral water.

i would be wary of using this with cheaper glass as it may expand enough to crack china glass.

I have successfully tried saline cooling ( i use himalaya but see salt might be as healthy too ) Salt water freezes very hard , sea/ocean water for example.. i've been in nothern parts of Russia (Barents , Bering sea.. -20/-30 Celsius in the summer..) . And your piss freezes in air before even touching the ground .. it just dusts.. away.. LOL..

I know this is completely un-related to the topic, but, I have to bring it up...

Continuing off of your description of pissing outdoors in Northern Russia, would it be safe to assume that one could stand outside on top of a tall building, or say on a 2-3+ story balcony, and piss off of it, and hit someone with a shard of urine? (pissicle) :brow: Not suggesting anyone do this of course :ninja:

That did cross my mind, which is why I was wary to post the idea on here in the first place... but I believe it turns into slush, not a solid block of ice, so it may not expand enough to crack glass. I've just been lazy lately, I really need to just suck up and go buy a bottle of water at the store.

Another good point. Adding salt to water lowers the freezing point, a saturated solution of sodium chloride (table salt) doesn't freeze until about -20C, or -4F, allowing you to get much cooler filtration than just normal ice water.

I use Himalaya salt.. It has another benefit.. Your bong is shiny as hell .. When i use saline i don't have as much condensation... Also salt water is thicker so filtration is better.. : )
I often do warm water with himalaya salt inhalations.. I have to try to hit it in my bong :) .. Aromatherapy + steam salt inhalation ... that sounds smoooth..

This reminds me of when I first bought a bong years ago and we tossed some snow in it that winter then poured some water in. Woah boy those were the coolest tokes I have ever taken!

That looks like a great idea, and is perfect for my smaller glass. Especially since I won't risk breaking the downstem since it doesn't have something to catch the ice. It doesn't look very breathable, though. Anybody have results, yet? I may end up just going with the snow option VaporNation mentioned this time of year. :lol:

Apathy, that picture looks like hanging out on frozen lakes was a great idea. haha. Would using snow/ice that compact (relatively) create a lot more condensation in the airpath when using vapor? Is the difference noticeable or anything to worry about?

Two years later....as a Sconnie (natural Wisconsinite in birth, life, and/or especially behavior), swim can attest to the snow in the tube technique. It breathes fantastic! It's especially a plus if your snow is pure (made with distilled water and ice cream tech. or a freezer) since it melts as bowls go through and starts to bubble- only good for one-3 quick ones as snow turns to water quickly when exposed to ~700 F shmerk.

*edit* okay, the supercooled water is neat, I'm gonna try that too since I have a wine-bottle bong. I usually just mix up some water and ice in a cup and stir it until it's freezing temp and then use that.

I'll compare all three ice methods and report back. Something tells me my old stirring the ice in the cup with water is gonna be easiest/preferred. Might try throwing some salt in there...

Stirring ice in a cup and then pouring it in was easiest, snow was most difficult (had to use the blender..), Supercooling was definitely the... coolest :cool:

I took pics, they all looked the same.

However, at the end of the day. I think I prefer room temp or maybe even warm water when it comes to vapor. I was a big fan of ice-cooling when I smoked, but now it seems like overkill. Icey vapor hits are harsher than room temp vapor hits, no doubt about it.

Mountain Dew. Just 5 minutes at room temperature and I can't handle it.

I recently quit smoking and tried to quite MD. Sadly, caffeine is a bitch I can't live without.

Could always try vaping thru ice cream than you can make a milkshake after lol.

used to use snow when ever if was possible but i hear it can get one sick because of the low temps .

I always filter through crushed ice in my old age. Water at the bottom and ice all the way to the top.
