Traveling, what products to hide odor

I will be traveling cross country this summer, I will be bringing a Solo and a few prepacked stems, two sealed Pringle like(about a 1/4 of the size) cans, 7g each....my last experience traveling was over 17 years ago and ended up with my pictures being takin on the side of the road, a broken bong , and a sliced Bong gas mask as a souvenir, courtesy of the Nebraska highway patrol. I was younger then, took zero precautions and luckily got off with a , "don't come back to Nebraska". I remember get smelly proof bag a long time ago and impressed with how well it worked. Seen the Ryot smell safe capsual, not sure about it tho. Any product recommendations would be great. Thanks

I don't think the Solo needs a case unless you want to buy one. The stems I would put in a Plano. Herb in a jyar or cvault.

Compared to last time, the smell should be non-existent. I personally can smell herb from your car with your windows up before I even approach it if you were smoking. Vaping is not really noticeable. But doesn't not getting pulled over prevent any need for precaution. I live in NE and know they aren't going to pull you over until you go 6 above the speed limit.

My #1 advice would be don't speed, its your number 1 reason to get pulled over in the first place...
I got pulled over going 98mph in beaver utah, i had some eddibles in the car... i played it cool, took my ticket and left .
edit i keep my solo, in a vapecase and its completely air tight, i recently washed a case and it was dry inside still.

I live in NE and know they aren't going to pull you over until you go 6 above the speed limit.

Last July after heading back to IL from CO after the 710 cup, maybe about 30 minutes after crossing the border I was pulled over for speeding. I was going 4mph over with IL plates.

Ended up with a warning and no search. Just a nice talk about how I-80 is a main drug trafficking route, blah, blah. He did ask for me to step out of my car, I did so and expected a pat down, but since I'm white I guess I posed no threat to him , and he instead asked me to sit in the passenger seat of his patrol car. He was doing this so that I might lower my guard, but also so he could examine my mannerism up close in a quieter environment, and also to try and notice any nervous actions on my part. We engaged in small talk, all initiated by him, I kept things light and found common ground wherever possible, but made sure not to speak more than needed. I had my story figured out before I ever left, I recommend this.

Speeding is what gave the Nebraska state trooper a real reason to pull me over beyond the fact that I was leaving CO with out of state plates. I know I was profiled because there was traffic in front of me and behind me that was speeding more than I. Also, the fact that he asked to search me vehicle and mentioned that I-80 is a drug trafficking route, leads me to further believe that I was profiled.

I would recommend smell proof bags, some sort of odor stone or ozium, a locked safe to keep everything in, and to watch this video
it wont cover everything 100% but it's a good starting point.

The best bet is to follow the rules of the road as precisely as possible. Simple things like only being in the left lane while passing on a two lane highway, and moving to the left lane while passing a vehicle pulled over on the shoulder, can help you avoid seeing red and blue in your rear-view.

Be careful out there, it's not too hard to do but you have to be vigilant in your discipline, and basically don't be too stupid. Learn how to deal with cops if you don't already. You're nothing if you don't know your rights and how to properly and respectfully exercise them when needed.

And always make sure you're ready to be ask if you're stoned, or why your eyes looked glazed, or whatever. Don't let them trip you up, have confidence.

I like to use essential oil car diffusers with peppermint. Essential oils are so strong the peppermint smell should be quite whelming over the herb unless you've just got it laying out. But the mint smell makes everyone that comes in my room make a comment about that even though I was most likely just vaping.

I know of a one who also plans a trans-USA road trip, 6000 miles total. This one too needs consider medicine and machine and the hostile lands to be traversed.
Now I personally did not take the hour plus time to view the above video advice, so I may be repeating.

The one I know was a professional driver for a national passenger transportation company and racked up many miles over the roads of many states. So, these suggestions I have received and can pass on.

Follow the advice so far given. Righteously obey traffic laws and know who you are, where you are, and why you are legally passing through. Use cruise control if you have it. Check the operation of all of your lights; frequently, like every gas stop. Always use your signals. Be present, aware and driving, not day-dreaming. Be rested; not dreaming. Watch the traffic behind; see what's catching up. Consider carrying spare bulbs for the car. If stopped you can say, "Golly sur-nuff the light is out, I didn't know, thanks officer I have a replacement right here, you can't be too safe you know!"
But then you need to know how to change light bulb.

In my experience the best way to hide the smell of cannabis is in moisture barrier bags, they really are quite fuckers. If you seal them (I think you use an iron to seal them) and then clean the outside with alcohol (wipe them in one direction to avoid contaminants being moved back and forth) and then seal them again that shit can get past dogs.
No idea for your solo though.

Does your Solo somehow get dirty? I'm sure if you had it in your cup holder the cops wouldn't even notice it, unless you still have the stem in it.

For carrying your herb a JyARz or two is the best option imho, I would keep the solo in a cup holder with the aroma therapy bowl and some potpourri and a small smell proof box or pipe pouch for the stems. My solo stays very clean as a matter of fact I only clean my stems my solo itself is still like new.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Lot of great info, I believe I was profiled, I had at the time a new F150 and the cop seems to question how I could afford such a nice truck on a Custodians salary, told him you'd be surprised. I wasn't even driving, my fresh faced ,yellow shirted, follow the rules of the road friend was. I tried to drive straight thru, should have stopped for the night. It could have been worse, they found a roach in my cigarette pack, I scoffed at it because he claimed to have found a joint, I knew I had no joints. Found a used pipe, a sweet glass bong and a bong gas mask. Lucky they let me go, I had my bag jocked the whole time, I needed to keep the dog in the car, so I confessed to the bowl because he promised no Dog if I just "tell the truth" a gamble, but one I needed to take. They destroyed everything but not before making me pose with it all as they snapped Polaroids....lmfao, this time I'll be in a current model Rav4 and my wife, we look nothing like smokers. I be transporting pets also so maybe that will throw off any suspicions. I'm gonna be speeding, but to combat any problems I bought the top of the line Escort Radar detector. I will slow it down appropriately tho when needed.

After he gave me my "citation" which was the warning for speeding, he then asked if he could ask me a few quick questions. I knew at this point I had the right to say no and to leave since I had already been ticketed, and I knew he was going to ask about weed, drugs, or to search the car.

I told him that it was fine if he asked me a few questions. This is when he went on his whole spiel about I-80 being this huge drug trafficking corridor and how since weed is legal in CO they are expecting increased trafficking. This is when he asked to search my car. I simply said "No thanks officer, I have a good 10 hour drive ahead of me and I'd like to be on my way.

He immediately said "Ok, drive safe" And that was it. Guess this trooper actually respected my rights? If he tried to pressure me further into a search I would have told him since he already ticketed me am I free to leave? My biggest fear was the k-9 unit, which he never called for thankfully.

Maybe allowing him to ask me a few questions was the wrong move? Maybe it was what let me off? I couldn't say either way.

The two biggest things working against you is the officer claiming he/she smells weed, and a k-9 unit. They need no proof of this since smells dissipate so you cant really prove it in court, and typically a judge will believe an LEO over you. Plus, good luck getting the k-9 unit to testify in court.

At the point that the officer claims to smells weed, that is probable cause for him/her to search your vehicle. There is that and the k-9 unit being told to false trigger. Really not much you can do in these instances.

That's the toughest, what do you say if they ask to search your vehicle????
Do you say " I have nothing illegal to hide but no thank you, I don't care to have be car searched"?
Or what is best??

You simple say no, and that you are exercising your right to refuse an unlawful search. They will pressure you and ask "why not", "what do you have to hide" just remember, that refusing a search does not mean you are a criminal or that you are hiding anything illegal. You need to believe that. Chances are that the officer will ask you immediately if you have any illegal firearms, explosives, or drugs on your persons or inside the vehicle. So repeating that you have nothing illegal to hide shouldn't be necessary and could just raise possible suspicion.

Have a good reason why you are refusing as well, my reasoning for having to drive through Nebraska, Iowa, and 2 hours of Illinois still, was a better reason to refuse a search than me just simply exercising my rights. This goes back to having your story figured out before you even leave.

There are tons of videos on youtube where you can watch people refuse searches on their car. It's a good idea to know what the situation might be like, and to also know what tactics seems to work best on a specific type of officer, be it an aggressive one or whatever.

I be transporting pets also so maybe that will throw off any suspicions. I'm gonna be speeding, but to combat any problems I bought the top of the line Escort Radar detector. I will slow it down appropriately tho when needed.

Having pets is really the only way I can think of to discredit or throw off a k-9 unit. If the k-9 is distracted by your pets then he can't be too effective, can he? The radar detector is a good idea too, even if you don't plan to speed. It simply warns you that there is a little piggy hiding somewhere ahead.

Exactly, first cop walks up to passenger side, asks a few questions, leaves, second cop walks up and says, my partner smells weed and so do I....I had to laugh to myself, my friend was so paranoid about me bringing weed (he's a non smoker) I mocked him by saying, what are they gonna say? I smell weed? Turned out, yep, that's exactly what they say. Threatened to have the did tear apart my new truck if I didn't concent to a search, I knew I had nothing in the truck to worry about, but if that dog came out and sniffed me.??? They called my friend back to talk at one point, it all began after that, he said they asked if he had weed, he told them no, so he said. Mistakes were made. Hopefully I learned something

AmazingKaddy, do you intend to vape while driving? IMO, this raises odds of getting caught by 100.

Rude Boy had a suggestion, which might be appropriate if you intend to vape on the go.
If I was a highway bull and stopped you for speeding or taillight out or ??, and I approached your window to talk and saw a Solo in the cup holder, the red flags would raise. Son, is that drug pair-a-fen-ail-ia in your cup holder? Please step out out of the car now......
Just my opinion but I'd place Solo and stash in air tight containers in deepest recesses of the car and only take it out when stopped for the night.

I do plan on vaping on the go....I know , I know, but maybe I'll do it at a rest stop Instead of in motion, thinking of using the indica vaporizer for driving, idk..IMO it's not as heavy a hitter as the Solo and I got to get miles behind me.

The genius cop that can associate a Solo with drugs when the smell isn't present, just keep it in a 32 ounce.
But the aromatherapy methods are the way to go with the smell shielding if you're vaping while driving. I personally love my CVault as you can't see through it and if it isn't a large doesn't look .
to brow raising.

My friend was going 80+ when he crossed over out of NE to IA and in Nebraska our speed limit is around 75 but once we cross to Iowa they max out at 70 and but for some reason drop the limit to 55 right at the border.
They had very little chance of escaping as they were previously smoking with blunts and there's no quickly getting that smell out of your car. While they were all done smoking and had zero product it still smelled and of course they had pipes and gas masks in the car. But somehow once they stopped and tried to stash it the cop magically appeared at the driver window like he sprinted there.

I personally have never had to interact with a cop but I am pretty law abiding and don't look like a drug user. But if I ever do I will remember what Vitolo once mentioned, and I will have a passenger seat of cough drops and one in my hand right when I roll the window down. I'll make sure I look like the sickest perp.

Yep. Let me say this. I was vaping a forest preserve once and some cop on a bike came out of nowhere and caught me with my solo. He let me off, but kept the solo after I helped him understand what it is. He was totally dumbfounded and to this day I still imgaine the moron sitting back at the station trying to figure out where the weed goes or how to turn it on.

I guess all I'm trying to say is, the solo looks like nothing else. If you had to explain to a cop what is was, good luck. IMO at the point you already fucked yourself over by being so lazy as to having a vaporizer in your cup holder. At least throw it under the seat.

I would only recommend the cup holder route if you hide the solo in a mcdonalds cup or something. But even then, that should only be used to help disguise your vaping, not to hide the vape from cops.

I do plan on vaping on the go....I know , I know, but maybe I'll do it at a rest stop Instead of in motion, thinking of using the indica vaporizer for driving, idk..IMO it's not as heavy a hitter as the Solo and I got to get miles behind me.

If you use the mcdonalds cup method with the stealth adapter from planetvape then you should be ok in regards to not drawing any extra attention.

We all take our vaping smell for granted though. Yes, it's not like smoke. But to a straight edge LEO they will smell it, and they will know what it is. I would recommend a cracked window at all times while vaping, or at least crack it when you exhale your hit.

And remember, the grinder and the herb will reek waaaaay more than your exhaled vapor hit. You need to not be lazy and always keep your grinder/herb in a smell proof bag and then inside other containers and bags haha

A small pain in the ass now, can save you a huge pain in the ass later.

Rest stops can be a tricky/dangerous place to stop and get high. I'm a horrible person ;) and have dabbed at many rest stops, so it can be done, but I still never liked it. While I have never actually seen a cop at a rest stop, they do have to piss, and the rest stop is the #1 place to piss on a highway.

There are a few rest stops in Nebraska without any services, this might be a good place to stop in the middle of the night and vape. Why would a cop need to stop there? No where to piss, no wifi, no shelter, no fucking vending machines even. Those rest stops are usually very dimly lit and occupied by sleeping truckers. I believe they are more towards the western end of Nebraska.

I personally have never had to interact with a cop
Then try to imagine interacting with a cop and trying to explain your solo, while knowing that you have weed in your vehicle. At that point the officer is right at your window or you are both outside of the vehicle, and you are just adding more time to the stop, which is more time for the officer to read you and look inside your vehicle for more shit, and then you are going to start the solo up and pretend to diffuse oils with the solo?

I don't know about you but I have owned two solo's and neither one could actually diffuse anything, the potpourri bowl is just a nice legal coverup for Arizer. :peace:

Let me also say, I don't recommend anything I have shared in this thread. You know what you are doing and you know the risk you are taking. I'm just trying to help with some first hand experience so that others hopefully can avoid the situation.

Well if the cop is suspicious or there is smell then I assume you're pretty much fucked, I was speaking if there is no smell or suspicion, just getting pulled over for speeding or a broken light.

I would have the Solo in a cup, not just the cup holder. They wouldn't see my Solo if it was me in this scenario. This is why I recommend the essential oil diffuser. Because I was under the assumption he was going to use it while driving. It would be a hassle to try and switch them while driving and in most cases when you NEED to switch you're too late.

But the Solos lowest setting for me isn't enough to start the diffusing oils. Even my UD needs to be hot enough temperature to vape herb to actually heat up my aromacups. For my VVPS they recommend setting it at 3-4.5v for aromatherapy mode but I don't see my wax and oils melt in the cup until its above 11v which is the vape on its low temp. But I actually diffuse oils that is my daily thing, I am a consistent aromatherapy user you will smell oils every time you're in my car or at my home. While I have my UD in my car and its spewing much stronger than the Solo I've never actually had an opportunity or interest in testing the aromatherapy mode for the Solo.

I understand where you're coming from though, my EQ and V-Tower had potpourri bowls and they wouldn't work with my oils, so I can see the Solo not doing it either. There is a hole in them right? Otherwise it should work at a higher heat setting.

Many good thoughts expressed above.
This thought about long distance outlawism.
If you can not stop at a lonesome, beautiful far-vistas overlook, stop indeed where the truckers do, perhaps at truck stops; as close to the trucks as possible- and far from the motorists as well. The only smells will be diesel exhaust. I was told once of an intercity bus driver who would stop, step out and combust by the exhaust pipe on long night time drives. You know, while checking the tail lights.

I simply said something along the lines of "No, I don't consent to a search and I have a lot of driving ahead of me so I'd like to be on my way."

The trooper then respected my rights and sent me on my merry way, believe it or not.

I was always super polite, super confident, and super white. Yes, that's by biggest "tool" my skin color. :\ In rural Nebraska I'm sure it helped.

Radar detector is great but you need to learn how to use it:

Mount the escort as high as you can, just below the blue tint is a good spot. This will maximize radar detection but minimize lazer detection. If you get lazered your screwed either way since its instantaneous, only hope is if someone ahead of you gets lazered and bounces off and the escort detects it.

When on the highway switch to highway mode, it will be more sensitive (more false alerts in the city) but on the highway could be helpful

Three ways you can be caught with a good radar detector:
-Cop on the side of the road, flips on his instant on radar; if its an empty road you will be screwed if someone ahead of you gets radared then hopefully you will get the signal in time
-Cop on the side of the road aiming a lazer at you, if you get a detection good chance its just telling you, you just got a ticket
-Cop behind you gauging speed with speedometer

What escort did you get?
