For those of you whose fireflies have broken about how long have they lasted until they failed?

Mines in for warranty right now...it was going strong for about 3 1/2 months with heavy use in a variety of environments. Took my trusty dark grey firefly everywhere without worry of it failing. I'm standing in line for the Denver cannabis cup on 420. Boom. No heat no glow. Talk about bad luck!

(Edit: my firefly had been running warmer the week or two prior but didn't think anything of it till it broke...guessing the coil was touching one if the ceramic elements making it disapate more heat and cause the coil to fail?)

Talked to Shelby. Excellent customer service! My firefly arrived in Seattle yesterday and she said my replacement or fixed FF should be in the mail by the end of the day!

On another note...A topic for discussion... What instruction do you give people when you hand them a firefly for the first time?

Whoa!?! No 7-10 day processing time? And you didn't even have to complain?

First one dead after a month. (Very early model) I got a replacement for it that combusted so I sent that right back. Gave the 2nd replacement away and bought another one and have been using that for months... No issues

As for instructing others, I say press the button til you see it glow, keep holding and inhale. Everyone picks up really easily

Replacement unit opened, tested and all I can say is "WOW"! The first pull was by far the best so far. This new unit is as close to perfect as I could ever expect. After the second pull, I remembered why I purchased the Firefly. Thanks again FC folks, all is right, again, in my world. FuckCombuction!!!

This unit seems to be a bit hotter than my others. No complaining here, I enjoy the extra power.

My unit, unlike the others, cuts off at about 25 seconds. Seems a bit warmer even though it heats for less time.

Superior customer service to match a superior product. Just got of the phone with FF. Turns out my replacement FF is already in the mail and will be here tomorrow! All in all 5 business days/1 week for the whole warranty process. That is truly exceptional customer service. If any of these other gadgets around my house broke they'd tell me I'm SOL for a month!

Heard someone here randomly got another color FF when they got their replacement. Not sure if that's a good thing but I'd guess I'd be stoked to open up the box and find a bright red FF I still like the stealth of the dark Grey though so I didn't ask for anything otherwise.

So I spent some time yesterday with my Pax which is my current go to vape. I was dreaming about an indica vape. But then late last night on my last Pax session, I started to wonder if the thing was wasting herb because its always on and vaping..... literally vaping without me. So I'm going to switch to my MFLB for a few days and see if it helps me conserve more.

That being said, I'm wondering about the Firefly. It seems like a high tech MFLB, seeing that I can control the temperature with the side button.

So, looks like you guys are having a good time with the unit and the company is really supporting it. Is this going to be a well spent 300$?

I love using the FF.
I like it for 1st hit of the day.
I have experienced none of the issues others have.... too hot/too cold, screen leaks particles, element imperfect..... all is well on this unit..
I have one complaint.
I do wish the chamber was larger.
Oh, I get medicated... and if not I can go again, but I wish it were twice as large

I agree, it is similar to the beloved MFLB in that you press for on, let go for off, leaving your load uncooked while not vaping, but the technique for the LB takes a bit more finesse than the FF. I would say the Thermovape T1 has more similarity to the LB than the FF does.

All due respect to the great Magic Flight Launch Box, I bow to it's simplicity and innovative design, but the Firefly is a much more satisfying, fulfilling experience from ease of use to cloud production.

Both of my newish FFs cut off at 30. My old Silver cut off at 45.

My first FF was the dark grey. It was defective right out of the box. Four days later I had a replacement...it was a Silver. I was so happy with the fast service that the color change was a non-issue for me. Plus I love the silver finish.

On-demand heating is the only thing they have in common....the only thing. Build quality, design, materials, flavor, convection...everything else is different. I love the Launch Box, have two of em, but it isn't in any way comparable to the FF. The FF is overpriced, but not by much.

I think I would be a buyer for the FF if the cost of batteries was more in line with the MFLB. It gets too costly for an on-the-go person like myself to buy tons of FF batteries.

One extra battery with the external charger is good for home so you can charge the other battery while still using the FF. I'm not familiar with MFLB batteries and how many you need to carry around... but I worked at a ski area last winter and 2 fully charged FF batteries would last me all day. I wasn't using it all the time but at least like 8 sessions on 2 batteries. I don't think I'd ever need to cary around more than two spare batteries unless I was hiking.

I attend events that have me going days on end (up to a week) without power, that is my hurdle with getting into electric portables...

Even by that math, if I had 4days and 8batteries, it would be $300+ shipped.

I haven't bought a second battery or charger, I never really run into a dead firefly except yesterday, forgot to charge it/lost count of how many times I used it 2 puffs and dead! What a horrible experience. Still don't think I'm gonna buy a second battery.

glad your digging it;!! As for battery cover, I just got a brand new from the new batch silver one for someone else. The battery door was indeed much more snug. I still wouldn't spend $15 for a new one though because it wasn't that dramatic of a difference but it was noticeable.

I submitted a ticket on Sunday explaining that I had a loose battery door and just got a new one that was more snug asking if I could exchange it. Still no response

A big difference that I can see between the Firefly and the MFLB:

The Firefly uses heat stored in the heater core to produce vapor even after the user releases the button.

I am still getting a significant portion of my vapor after I release the button. In fact, at the end of a bowl, I can often get one full hit without pressing the button at all. This is just using the heat stored in the core. I wouldn't say it is a huge "cloud" hit, but definitely visible vapor.

To the poster earlier who was drawing 3-5 seconds after releasing the button I say draw a LOT longer than that. See if you start getting vapor after releasing the button, but with a much longer draw.

@Vitolo - Even though I have pointed out some of the less desirable aspects of my Fireflies, I would still say they have both come a lot closer to "perfect" than most of the other portable vapes I own. Great build quality, and excellent results.

The Pax oven is continuously heating the herb, yes, but it's not releasing nearly as much vapor as when you inhale from it, so it's not "wasting" much herb. The amount of vapor production is minimal when you're not inhaling. That being said, the Pax is still not as good at herb conservation as the Firefly simply because of its on-demand convection. My FF has overtaken my Pax in terms of frequency of use because of the herb conservation and flavor... And because I mostly medicate when I'm at home.

Pax is still my on-the-go vape simply because of it's portability features (stealth, longer battery, larger load capacity, etc.) And I only use it at home when I'm in the mood for a heavily sedating session or when I'm sharing it.

I would not recommend you get an Indica if you already have a Pax, simply because they are so similar in operation. Yes the Indica is newer and may have a slight edge over the Pax.. but not enough to warrant replacing it.

MFLB is also conduction vaporization, though. It does help conserve material though since you can get away with vaping even tiny flecks up to full-sized trenches.

Yes, I am enjoying my FF. I think it is among the top performers in the portable vape world. If you think it will meet your needs then get it if you are able to. The extra battery and charger are well worth the cost, so is the car charger. I have not regreted my purchase. The flavor is very good. The heat-up time is very fast , I think it is only beaten by the MFLB, or flame based vapes for heat up times. The warranty is good (5 yrs.) Customer service is praised well here. Personally, I have only called once with a question. They were kind, curtious, and eager to answer my questions. I have had my FF for 23 days, and I have used it every day. In the house when I wish to not be tethered, on the patio, in the car, at the doctors office… She is rarely out of my arms reach. My Queen is just right.

I use the 7 holes wispr screen and it work perfectly in the FF, no taste degradation like with the arizer basket. I never try the fine mesh wispr screen but I finely grind my herb with my spacecase and it never reach the stainless plate

I was intrigued by ElPic's suggestion so I ordered a three pack of the Iolite Wispr screens from VapeWorld. In general I have had no luck with any non-oem mods I've used on the FF...the Arizer baskets ruined the taste for me, a top screen seems to make the chamber too hot...but I figured the worst case scenario was losing 17 bucks.

They arrived yesterday, and man, what a find. They fit perfectly. They don't seem to add any heat (although I haven't used it yet on my Silver, just my Red, so I can't be sure what effects it might have on that particular device, though it fits both perfectly.) It keeps the floor of the bowl clean, eliminates the need for the bottom screen (and the attendant issues with removing, and re-installing the screen), keeps fine debris from slipping under the bowl edges, and in general makes the bowl much neater and compacted material doesn't build around the edges. It also pops out easily.

Doesn't seem to be a downside other than making the chamber slightly smaller due to the raised nature of the screen...but I didn't really notice it forcing me to use any less material. Overall, an *excellent* upgrade to the stock screens, the first non-stock thing I've done with the FF that works well for me, and I like it so much I'm going to order another half-dozen. As I said I need to see how it works in the Silver, but so far in the Red FF it's a stellar addition. Thanks to @ElPic for the awesome idea.

So I apologize if its already been answered but how does the Firefly compare to the Solo for performance. I like the stealthness of this unit compared to the Solo but I'm curious to if it outperforms the Solo. Thats the only way I could justify spending another 300 on medical equipment.

For a vape to out perform another it would have to have a similar delivery system to compare the two...
Each of these performs at the top of the parameters that they were designed to perform at.
These two are particularly hard for me to line up and compare qualitatively.

Ok fair enough, would you consider a good replacement to retire my Solo and is the Vapor quality in your opinion better than the Solo?
