YAY looks like my box should be here tomorow according to USPS :D!

ETA: Since its arrival is imminent i wanted to ask when you remove the battery does the trench cool quickly? For my solo when i am done i take out the stem right away and cap it off on both ends to not loose the meds. When i leave it in i dont get nearly as much use out of a bowl. Is it likely i will need to empty my trench or is it generally ok to sit in there?

One type is where some material gets blackened and you can taste the smokiness to it; the taste is very acrid to me and unmistakable. This doesn't produce a visible cherry but you can taste where the vapor turns into smoke.

I also reach this point sometimes. But I have a feeling that you can tell by the amount of vapor when this point is nearly reached. It seems to me that the vapor amount reaches its peak 3 or 4 draws before this acrid taste occurs and then rapidly decreases over the next draws with the same timing.

Well said OF with the unscreened tray I find the first type of over cooking common but never actual combustion. If I were to combust a bowl of said hash I would be left with white ash not black dusty rocks.

And @GenYHippie yes the trench cools almost immediately so your weed will be preserved nicely, no worries.

Thank you @davesmith :) great to know. I figure if i play with it and i like it i will get a second one to leave in my purse and it would be very nice not to have to carry extra jars.

ok, i tried the hash in the unscreened tray, with the PA and the bong attached. the taste was a nice change. really enjoyed it. there were some nicely visible clouds to report, too. the color turned dark, but when heated it's still sticky and the taste didn't got unpleasant yet. so i guess, there are still some goodies left in it. i stayed on the middle level of the PA. next time i will probably try the highest and i will also try to make the layer of hash as thin as possible. all in all a really pleasant experience, that i can only recommend.

Non screened tray, if its not wet/sticky maybe try straight in te trench

Report back!

Excellent observation. Compelling evidence there that 'something different happened'.

Thanks.

Very nice indeed. The wooden box and glass vials with corks really makes it IMO. I also love the labels. Not to second guess the effort, but how about cutting short pieces of wooden tongue depressors (and drilling a hole) to make wooden tags to stick the labels on? Maybe even use 'hemp wick' to remain topical?

In a way it's like the old joke about the priest from a poor church that can't afford greens fees but loves golf, so he climbs over the fence late at night to play for free......and hits a hole in one.......you can't go showing it off to everyone......

Anyway, fun setup, thanks for the photo.

I also love the labels.

The labels gettin worser the closer you get, for the next batch i'll make them half the size and I don't like the glossy look at all. I thought about thicker, already colored paper but I really like the idea with the tongue depressors, thanks for the inspiration.
Never knew hemp wick until now also, i already saw it sometimes used by a toker but wasn't curios enough to find out what it is. Will take a look at it if stumble upon it one day.

Hehe, don't know exactly what you wanted to point out, but in terms of the story i feel like i'm already used to play golf at night-times when nobody watches. Just fell in love with my new set of clubs and want to treat and store them appropiate if that makes sense.

Tanks :)

You're very welcome, fun project, thanks for sharing (good folks behind monitors around the world are enjoying it). Next you should get a Vapman and really go nuts.....

You might look for Hempwick. It's basically 100% hemp string impregnated with wax. A truly 'funky, organic' way to fire your pipe. But IMO using hemp string to tie the wooden labels on would be way cool.

A work (of art) in progress. Thanks again for sharing. This Forum is great, in case you missed that part........

The point is, like the priest who 'stole' from the course you have to be very careful about who you share the exciting news with.

As Bill Cosby once said, "when you have to explain them, they're pretty bad".

Vapor production stops pretty quickly after the battery is disengaged. I just make sure to leave some lung space at the end of my draw, then let the battery out and continue inhaling until no more vapor is being produced (usually 2-3 seconds). After that you can let it sit for as long as you want and come back to it whenever with no loss of herb.

Yep, @caves has it right, one of the things I love about the LB is that the material is only being heated when you engage the battery, and remains warm for a very short time after. At worst it stays warm for ~5 seconds. I've dumped some stuff out onto the palm of my hand and felt the heat where I put it, but it didn't burn me or anything and the heat quickly dissipated. Turns out plant material isn't very good at retaining heat ;) And yeah, another bonus point of the LB is that it turns on and off as fast as you can push and release the battery. I keep mine packed and go to it when I want a few quick hits to boost the high, or when I don't have the time to get my Solo out and set everything up (water path, material, which stem to get, etc). Think I'll have to get a few grams of kief next time I go to the dispensary and just keep my LB packed with that instead

Awesome thank you. I know for sure i cant inhale that much right now so im pretty sure once i heat it up i can stop there and just inhale whats in the chamber. Glad to know its not a waster :)

Glad to hear it @Quetzalcoatl ! I think my only concern about it now is getting too medicated while i figure out my timing. Im super sensitive to that so i will probably start using it at night so if i do over do it i can just roll over and try to sleep instead

ETA -
My 4/20 sale MFLB has arrived!

ETA 2 - Ok ive been having fun playing with it while its empty :p. I was expecting it to be small but the draw stem is so tiny! No airflow issues though excited to get some herb in it tonight :)

Have fun and take it easy with your first approaches.

Where did y get that tray?!!! Nice
Found it in a stationery shop during vacation, it was presented as a pencil holder with a fountain pen, pencil, rubber and a sharpener in it. My mind made up a better usage in seconds

Does anyone know if Magic Flight will sell a bare-bones Launch Box, i.e. one Box with no accessories? If so, do you know the price? Thanks

No idea but you might want to ask about some reputable ebay sellers for that :). Ive found some bare bones sales but i dont know the sellers well enough to comment

ETA Question -
Ok first go with herb in the box and im wondering did anyone else notice extra dry mouth with the box or when it was new? When i was doing practice runs without anything in it i noticed it but figured it was just the hot air through wood. But as im messing with it to get the temp right im getting dry mouth far before any real effects. Kept going but for being the same batch of herb its vapor is way moure moisture rich in my solo. Is that just a wood thing? Will it go away with use?

On a side note im assume the stem and battery get easier too because they are super snug almost have to force them in to get started. So far the pushback ring isnt an issue but that first bit of the battery opening is very snug.

In a fun way you might get an argument from some of us Yanks on that. You see, while what you call a "rubber" is what we'd call 'a pencil eraser', "rubber" here is slang for condom. Some here consider a nearby but discrete container of condoms to be mighty handy.........

Yes, I think we all noticed that.....if we were paying enough attention of course. It's been widely discussed, the general advice is to keep some water handy and keep sipping it to replace the evaporation from all the hot dry air you're suddenly pulling in. Eventually this becomes less and less an issue I think as technique and tolerance change and develop?

The battery fit is also well discussed. Including instructions for tightening up the spring because of poor contact when it's too loose. Some of us just learn to tip the battery a bit as you push it in, others can't seem to get the knack of it I guess. Variations in battery diameter are also a factor, as is roundess (that is you sometimes find batteries that are tight one way, but loose when rotated). The latest factory batteries seem to be better in this area.

But, the bottom line is the ring is a spring, and being SS is not that good a spring. Like the stem tightness (which changes with moisture content) it's part of what makes the box such an individual device. Like many, I own a couple for MFLBs. They all have small differences in their performance, some significant, some not. IMO part of the charm, really.

Like friendships with people, your relationship with the little rascal is due to evolve. Enjoy that process, soon you'll be fast friends you'll find yourself automatically shaking between hits........

Okay, eraser, haha

Noticed the battery fit also, had to replace 2 out of 6 batteries. The first was annoying out of the box and the second just crashed unlucky on the concrete, not properly fitting anymore.

Yes, my understanding of this is that it's meant for those who already own a complete kit and who want to own a replacement/additional Box without needing every accessory twice.

Actually, since I own a walnut LB kit and the PA, buying a maple bare box could allow me to keep the walnut at home, using it mainly with the PA, and to bring the maple one with the batteries I already own when I'm out... For the price, might be worth it...

Thanks for reminding me of the Club !
