Can I replace rice cripies with coco puffs, captain crunch, etc?

I am about to give the recipe a try and then make another modified batch using other cereals.

I am not sure as I have not tried to alter the recipe myself. Consistency of the cereal probably makes a difference, so if I were to alter it, I might use Fruity Pebbles, or something of similar size.

Most cereals work.

I've done it with rice krispies, captain crunch, and coco puffs.
My favorite was a mix of rice krispies with coco puffs.

I love adding vanilla extract to it, too!

Go right ahead, personally I've used captin crunch and reese's cereal. On top of starting out with the rice crispies. Now, there is different methods for baking my friend. Different times and the material of the pan provides a % in difference.

I made a batch of rice krispies treats made with ABV and coconut oil 2 weeks ago and they came out wonderfully! I made them as follows:

  1. Took 1 oz of ABV bud and ran it through a standard bladed coffee grinder until it was all powdered (had to run three batches through the grinder)
  2. Ensured all of the weed was fully decarbed by sealing the ABV in a tinfoil pouch and roasting at 240F for 30 minutes. I realize this is probably overkill but I had a fair bit of undervaped herb in the mix and didn't want to waste anything
  3. Followed this recipe to make the treats: http://www.cookingwithbooks.net/2014/10/coconut-oil-rice-krispies-treats.html
  • Ingredients
    • 4 tablespoons coconut oil
    • 1 bag marshmallows (10 ounces)
    • pinch of salt
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean powder
    • 5 cups crispy rice cereal
  • Instructions
    1. Grease an 8x8 inch pan and set aside.
    2. In a large pot over medium heat, melt the coconut oil and add the marshmallows.
    3. Stir with a spatula while marshmallows melt and add the salt and vanilla bean powder.
    4. Once all the marshmallows are melted, add the crispy rice cereal and stir until combined.
    5. Dump into greased pan, flatten top, and let sit for two hours until firm. Cut into squares and store in an airtight container.
3.1. Mixed all 28g of the ABV powder in right with the coconut oil in step 2 before adding in the marshmallows. I didn't water cure, strain, or otherwise do anything else to the ABV that I haven't written and the taste was fantastic! I did use two bourbon vanilla beans instead of the powder because I had it on hand.

3.2. Added 2 tablespoons (overkill, I realize) of Soy Lecithin powder

4. Cut into 20 squares, IIRC, and each square packed a nice effect for my extremely high tolerance. A small triangle sent one of my non-indulgent friends into orbit on the great glass elevator which made him extremely grateful as he hates vaping/smoking anything. I sent him home with 10, distributed a few others, and then, yesterday, ate the remaining 4 at once and had an absolutely wonderful cap to the weekend :)
