I have been hitting my Omicron Lite for a few weeks and I am noticing that the back of my throat is feeling like its burnt.Anyone know why?

I heard that if people inhale to hard with their vaporizer they will be inhaling very hot vapor that could burn your throat...is that true? anyone experience this "throat burn"?

I wish the omicron lite had a switch to turn down the temp...

Are you taking big hits, you have the power to regulate the temp by pulsing, I personally never hold for more than 3 seconds at a time.

Are you inhaling before you press the button?

I inhale before I press button, and I was holding for 5 seconds...just recently I started pulsing 1-2 second pulses...I do 3 or 4 total pulses this way. But I am still feeling this burn/tickling in my throat.

I hope my throat feeling isn't permanent...

I find 5 seconds tends to heat the coil far too much, possibly inhale faster, that will cool down the coil. How is it when you inhale without any heating or with very little as if you're not interested in vapor.

Have you vaped herb, does this issue occur with that, could just be the concentrate you have.

If I inhale without heating, nothing happens. Not sure your question here...I'm interested in the vapor bc without it I wouldn't get stoned...

When I vape with my PAX its great, except the High setting I can feel some burn if I inhale too hard.

I have had a few different grams of shatter in my KISS cartridge with the Omicron Lite and I have only been using it for 2-3 weeks now. I need to figure out if my unit is burning to high or if there is something I can do to not have my throat feeling this way.

is it hot vapor that is causing my throat to do this? how can I fix this?

The relatively short distance between the oil and the mouthpiece doesn't give vapor much chance to cool down. Sounds like you have the idea by taking more smaller hits. You could hook up some whip tubing to the end of the cart or the mouthpiece, which can be mated to a water tool. Last night I was using the double top with twin carts, and the hot dry vapor was much cooled by hooking up a whip and mating it to a water tool. No throat irritation.

where can I see a picture of what a whip and water tool look like? This KISS cartridge has a longer than usual middle piece for the air path, I'm surprised the vapor doesn't cool down

has this throat thing happened to other people? will the feeling heal up?

It's a pretty easy setup. Here's the double top:

And with the Herc. (left a little canned milk in this one)

It does help a lot to position your tongue right in front of the mouthpiece hole with a short-path vaporizer. Close, but not touching.

This causes the hot vapor not to hit the back of your throat so immediately. Instead, the tongue diffuses it a little and cools the vapor down. Having said that, pens always give me burning after enough hits and that's the reason I rarely use them. Unfortunate because they're so portable.

Always goes away quickly when I abstain from inhalations. I supplement edibles instead for a day or two.

Lots of liquids with honey to keep the throat from drying out and I usually only have 1 bad day.

Anyone know how I can make the omicron-lite not burn my throat with the KISS? I won't be able to carry a whip around and still be stealth...

Does it only burn when you use it how long does the burn last, I use my Hammer with a 2 inch stem for concentrates and that kills the back of my throat.

Concentrates burn, they are harsher than herb. Maybe try a lozenge while vaping.

I am who I am and your approval isn't needed!
Try not sealing your lips tightly/completely around the mouthpiece.... allow some surrounding air to also be inhaled at the same time along with shorter hits. It's what 'I' do to help cool the vapor when away from home and my warm water assisted inhales ;)

I can see clearly now the smoke is gone...
Sorry, but that feeling will never go away. It is just one of the side effects of vaping. Most people feel it is worth it since vaping is still safer than smoking.

I can agree, with the caveat that I think it's a combination of things.

If I vape at lower temps, I get more throat irritation from THC (my guess) -OR- it's a terpene thing. Too high a temp, and I get the burn. I have to hold my OPhos button down long enough to get hot enough to burn off whatever irritates, but not so long that I get over hot burn, either. I do a count of four (4) then keep inhaling for a couple more after I release the button. Then I have to be careful not to hit too often, as that will do it. If I need a bigger dose than just a pull or two from the OPhos, it is better if I do a real oil rig dab or a flower hit with EVO.

It's always a trade off.

I've used quite a few stealthy portables that don't bother me, heat wise. How you use a vape, draw and temp wise, can make a difference, and everyone is different, but there are pocket portables available that get little to no flack about burning the throat.

I find with the Omicron (and Persei) units, how the button is manipulated becomes important. A pulsing on-and-off, keeping the oil flowing but not burning. It's a fine line, and takes some time to learn, but it's worth it.

There's a recent thread on coughing in the Discussion forum. Some of it applies here, like not taking big lung-busting rips.
