Arizer Solo

I recently purchased an Arizer Solo newer model. I'm having trouble due to material going through the holes in the glass screen. I tried cutting an installing a metallic screen but no matter what I do I can't get the metallic screen to stay inside the stem. Anyone has tips or advice? Anyone knows where I can get a stem with only a metallic screen and no glass screen?

Make sure you dome the screen

Actually, I have had your problem. We have discussed the differences in stem dimensions in the last page or two back. I have stems which I can put a 1/2" screen in quite easy but also have one that is next to impossible. In fact I gave up and do without one. Would get it in place and if not extremely careful it would always come out with the load. Imagine waiting until it gums up is an option. No patience here....
You can try the most effective way, which is to dome it so the dome faces outward in the stem and then push it as flat as possible with a marker cap or AAA battery or whatever.
The turbo version of PV stems have a screen that fits in a groove without the glass holes as well as ED's stems.
Hope this helps,

SOLO Vaporized Cannabis is my Best Medicine
My dealer and good friend told me it's medical grade and I've received medical stuff from him before. Here is a picture, I'm not sure how much it will help. Got me pretty high nevertheless

Actually I got the same problem, but it's self inflicted. Out of bud, except for some stunted, but budding plants. Not bad bud, if I had more patience and would wait and cure it. Good I have a Persei vape for oil now or I'd really be picking more bud too soon. But the reason I mention it is I noticed even though it looks pretty good, it lacks alot of trichromes and it tastes weedy(like swag).:puke: My eight month old dry crystally blueberry bud from last summer and a friends White Widow from a year ago both tasted much better than that. Both were good quality though. I've had a couple of sativa strains that even if dried properly, still did not taste that good. That's probably why I let those strains die out.

But when everything is right: good strain-good cure-dry, the Solo will deliver some of bests hits you ever tasted.

Hi All,

This might be off topic, but any ideas how long i could store herbs (without affecting it in any ways). And what would be the best way to store i.e. freezing, vacuum sealing etc. I am now in a situation where access to herbs is restricted so i will be stocking up

Cheers and thanks for reading

PS - enjoying my 2 Solos
I mostly put my bud in old canning jars:

jars1.jpg

They are empty now but last fall the place looked like a dispensary, LOL.

The jars I really like though are a couple of Italian apothecary jars with ground glass tops:

jars3.jpg

That's ABV in the jar. The other one was full too but it has been converted to oil.:science:
I wish it was still bud, but I admit it was fun converting it to ABV!!!!

Hey everyone here. Thanks to your advice I recently got a Solo from PV and it is quite a nice little vape.

Unfortunately, I'm having a bit of a problem with it and was wondering if this is normal behavior for the unit. Basically, at temperature level 2 the clouds are so thick that they seem to border on being combustion clouds. Since the Solo doesn't do much at all on level 1 this means that the only hits I can get are extremely harsh. I suppose some people might not mind this, but I prefer draws that don't leave me coughing. Also, this way I don't get to use the rest of the range of temperatures and adjust as needed.

It could just be that I am used to having the manual control that the DBV provides, but it seems strange that I am getting such hot hits at 2 when most people here seem to use theirs at 3, 4 or even higher. So is the problem the unit or me?

I've tried this with 2 strains already and haven't noticed much of a difference. I pack the bowls full without a screen, although, I have also tried lighter packs without much of a difference. There aren't any other variables that I can think of, but that isn't to say I'm not doing something else wrong without realizing it. One last detail that I should mention is that the outer layer of my bowls get a lot darker than the inside of them. Not sure if this is usual or not, or even related. So can anyone tell me if this sound normal for the Solo or is my unit running too hot?

I agree with your conclusion: too hot at level 2, and no discernible/usable temp range. Would suggest contacting in Arizer and/or dealer. Good informative post - thanks!

Curing effects flavor and smell as well.

anyone tried water cured bud, with the solo?

I have. less flavor, less harshness at higher temps, very little to no popcorn taste at the end.....same high.
....forgot less bag appeal.......but who cares , I grow just for me and my wife.....

strain: aurora indica

I'm sure some will disagree ,but these are my findings.

In these hard times, Gods grant me low tolerance, nay, CULTIVATE and coddle that low tolerance! Before packin' mo' shit in that stem ask yourself if it will really add anything, or just whip up your liver to break down the actives better, and chew through your wallet faster! :2c:
Geez, I do an eighth in a day or two.:dog: (Sorry replied to the wrong comment.)
Have cut back on my Solo flower vaping though because I now have a new Persei for oil.
Good for sleep too!

No heat/cold cycle as well. I use mason jars with foodsaver airpump for bulk, jyarz for grounded. I poped my airless purple kush mason jar(not filled at all, 7g in a 250ml volume) 5 months later and didnt need to rehydrate to trim the leaves. Grounded herbs in a jyarz stays 1 month+ and seems as good as day 1.

@Cloudy I think the 2014 models run at +5 degree celcius. So everybody using at level 3-4 would do so at 2-3 with the newer edition. The darker outer layer happened to me too on the 2014 model. Not all the time, and i couldnt isolate the factor doing it.

This is not normal for sure.
How long does it take to reach level 2?
There have been reports of crazy heating speeds with some newer vintages and the super fast units are also the ones that have also been reported as failing in a short time.
However, the display reading low is a different story..? The temperature sensor might have problems and your unit is running a muck...thinking out loud.
Exchange it so you can enjoy it properly is my advise.

Thanks for everyone's responses so far, I really appreciate all your helpfulness. I'm seeing a bit of a consensus on the not normal side. Luckily PV quickly agreed and they said they will send a replacement. Really hoping the next one allows for more variation in temperatures. I'd feel very silly if I was just somehow using the device wrong.

I just timed it and it took 40 seconds to reach 2. Usually the first hit on 2 doesn't do much. But the second one starts producing massive clouds that may be partially smoke. After a few puffs of these I turn it down to 1 so I can stop coughing, then it dies so it is back to 2 again until the "good" hits are gone. At that point I can put it higher, but it doesn't really hit much, if at all.

Does the description I just gave sound similar to what you experienced? I figure even if people use it at 2 to 3 they are getting weaker hits on 2 and stronger ones on 3, but that may not be right. What level do usually set yours to?

Under normal circumstances it's pretty easy to operate a Solo correctly. Yours sounds all kinds of not-right to me. I have a model from late 2012...and I always start on 5. At the very end of a session I'll be on 6 or even 7. Never close to combustion.

2 is just uselessly cool on my device.

As @Pipes mentioned ,
Your issue has been reported before , except the members stated
it was reaching level 7 in a rapid manner . ( 30 seconds ) iirc
It was heating too hot , I'm glad you're getting a replacement .
