Okay guys, I'm prepping myself for Herbie's arrival. Some grand daddy purple & fortune cookie are the strains for now :science:

Need help with glass adapters. The male and female part always confuses the hell outta me so bare with me!
http://www.mountainglass.com/Low-Pr...14M-100.html?sc=2&category=18191#.UzV-OJm9Kc0

The link above is 10 male to 14 mm female. So, in order to connect it to a HT with the whip piece on Herbie I need a 14 mm female to 18 mm female for it to fit a HT or glass mouthpiece?? The last thing I wanna do is buy the wrong male or female adapter and be fucked for water pairing :uhoh:...

PS: Links to adapter(s) needed would be lovely or even if you have them for sell yourself

Thanks @Vitolo . I'm incredibly excited about this one! Would you happen to know about the adapters also? I'm a glass lover so I'd love to have her paired up, 'if need be'. Versatility is lovely my good man

EDIT: Okay after more research. I think I have it and here it is for others that would like to connect A HT directly on top of the whip piece (not the whip itself). @letter never sent , thanks dude. Gotta give credit where credit is due!

10 MM FEMALE TO 14 MM MALE
14 MM MALE TO 18 MM MALE

This will mate it with any HT or glass mouthpiece that is 18 MM female directly on top of Herbie (not recommended for a clutz). I hope I helped someone in the future..

Also guys, I have four different doterra essential oils to run thru Herbie. From what I've gathered, this is a reputable, high quality essential oil company so I can really test out Herbie's aromatherapy capabilities.

I plan to meticulously test every aspect of this device, from ballon, whip and water and call me weird but the diffusing oils part is at the top of my list too:worms:

AS the opposite from volcano which i found bowl pretty large, the chamber/bowl is small enough in diameter. i do not think it affects the ability to pass bags of vapor to a bunch a people!

A nice feature is the dabbing ability of herbie. bags are so nice with pad and dab: low temp of dabbing= yes!

May be the harrassing thing is to load the dab on the pad, it the situation where you load the dab with dab in the bowl or you load it before and try to put in the bowl w/o flipping it in the wrong side.

Almost there...
So Herbie strikes again tonight!

I load a aromatherapy pad with oil, open up Herbie, place bowl on and connect to WT.
Rip that sucker for as long as possible and no vapor! WTF??

I look at the screen to see the Limited Edition screen and not the temp screen...

One of the dangers of doing oil in Herbie!

So I was in the shower yesterday thinking about Herbie and vape signatures and it dawned on me that with Herbie we can also develop strain profiles for different strains and temps. Something that would document where the vapor production temp spots are with a strain and what effects you get. Someday we will fire up Herbie at 370 with some train wreck and run out, but no problem because I can get a similar effect from Blueberry Haze at 395.

Like, it would be great to profile a strain enough to know that its best results for daytime head highs is 335. Then nothing much happens with that strain until 380, at which point the next good temp to use is 435. Am I making sense here?

^ A database like that also might be helpful in pointing the inconsistencies between the "same" strain from different vendors as well as different descriptions from the major strain review sites. I was just pointing out in the indica thread for example that sour diesel is described as a straight sativa at leafly.com, while over at medicalmarijuanastrains.com it's a indica-dominant hybrid. And that's just one example of many.

Yes, perfect sense, but I am also victim/survivor of a recent Herbalizer experience.... I just sat 30 minutes before Herbie, in serious conference.
... so yes, you are making perfect sense.

Slightly Medicated

The more I get in to growing and making my own medicine the more I am realizing how varied cannabis can be. Depending on the grower and technique you are going to get slightly different cannabis profiles. Depending on how clear/white/orange the tricomes are can change the effects. The phenotype can change the type terpenes and the effects. Depending on the moisture content you might get a thicker/thinner vapor density and more effects. Really the Herbalier has removes many of the other variables that now these are the things you have to be concerned with more.

That is one reason why a strain database with temperatures and effects for each strain is good in concept, but would never be %100 accurate. It would be a good idea though for people who are figuring stuff out that hey harlequin might be better at 375F for my pain then it would be at 300F. On the other hand though a grower who harvested a Sativa early versus a a gower who waited and let the tricomes turn more orange will have very different effects. The early Sativa is going to be much more racey and mind oriented. The more mature plant with the milky/orange tricomes will have a more Indica feeling. They are the same strain, but one is just grown longer. This would affect the temperatures to effects for that strain ever so slightly.

I am sad to admit that i had to send in my herby for the clicking sound on start up, it was working perfectly(it seemed) but I just didn't like the sound. But hey, at least they provided the shipping label. That is a first for me.

That was nice of them. They also offered me some swag. I was starting to warm up to the Herbalizer, so now I'm anxiously awaiting its return. Hopefully, any problems will be easily corrected.

Someday indeed, stickstones. Genetics is a huge variable. Meaningful cannabis genetics may be one of the most important outcomes of legalization. Well, that and staying out of prison. It's crazy that different seeds from allegedly the same strain can result in multiple, wildly diverse phenotypes. Seeds are sold many generations before the genetics have been stabilized into true-breeding strains. I suppose that this is why most growers favor clones. It would never fly with legal agricultural crops. Can you imagine a farmer planting acres of tomatoes only to find that one eighth of her crop can't be transported long distances? For now, we just grin and bear it with cannabis.

"We get lots of questions about vaporizing, and specifically temperature settings. The idea is to have a high enough setting to boil off the terpenoids you want, without boiling off waxes, or burning off plant matter.

Here’s a list of materials and related boiling point temperatures:
• 305-315F (150-157C) | More volatile terpenes like Limonene, α-Pinene, Myrcene
• 310F (154C) | Ideal temperature for decarboxylation
• 365-385F (185-196C) | Most Cannabinoids
• 400F (204C) | Less volatile terpenes like Phytol
• 410F (210C) | Cuticle waxes begin to burn, fumes and co-polymerize (like caramelized sugar in a skillet)
• 433F (223C) | Plant matter (leaf/trichomes) begin to burn, fumes, ash and hot embers form
• 451F (233C) | Paper burns, fumes, ash and hot embers form

As you can see from the numbers, the best starting point with a vaporizer is about 390F and lower. Different models and designs will need to be individually adjust to fine tune performance. As a general rule, the more heat, the more damage to the terpenoids, so the lower the temperature you can operate at with a satisfactory result, the better."

So if I vaped my herbs at 310, I could then take them out and they'll be perfect for baking or making a tincture? Just curious if that is a logical conclusion from this?

Edit - I returned from reading the full article, very interesting. My key takeaway regarding Herbie is that when i start a session at 388, which I am known to do , I am likely getting more of the terpenes that increase absorption of cannabinoids into the blood stream. So when I up the temp eventually ending at 445, more of the compounds get absorbed after starting below 390 than would have from starting above 390.

I have been noticing that sometimes the medication after using the Herbalizer seems to last (albeit more mildly over time) for several hours after I've left the house, not intense, but a subtle stone.

This doesn't always happen, but I've noticed it more than once and sometimes is comes in "waves" like from using edibles, I think most here would know what I mean.

I need to increase my data collection.

Has anybody tried to use high temp (420F and up) ABV from Herbie for oil yet?

I usually finish bowls with herbie at 420 or higher and I don't expect the ABV would have much left to give. Knowing that herbie is really efficient at its extraction, I'm just wondering if I'd be wasting my time trying to extract anything from that ABV.

I've seen slightly higher temps listed http://www.greendragon.lhosting.info/.

But ovens are NOTORIOUSLY inaccurate. (HINT: Try a pizza stone or some bricks in the oven to help with fluctuations. I'd also calibrate off of an oven thermometer with an external read (so you don't open the door), rather than trust the oven.)

I think Δ-9 might start volatility at 315-ish°F, so you might be safer on the Herbie to stick right under that?

You wouldn't be wasting your time.

You'd be doing "peer review". :science:

I haven't tried as I normally don't go that high, and thus don't really have ABV in that range. But I would expect there to be something left in it (there are some cannabinoids that are volatile >420°F, plus possibly some lower temp compounds left inside of the plant matter, depending on how it was hit in the Herbie] ... just a question of what the Return On (your time) Investment would be....

I have tried a QWISO extraction and the result was some black goo.
Would i do it again? No it was not worth it IMO.
I vape at at MAX baby!!!

Results with lower temps may give you something usable but Herbie is pretty damn efficient!

I have used ABV from high temp Herbie Vape... to make ABV pastries.
Anyone that ate one claims them to be strong.
There are still goods in the high temp abv enough for consumtion at any rate.

Well i made many QWET from ABV and yes the final product is black and gooey but very potent. Some more sleepy than anything.

I found herbie very accurate to vape those with the pad.

I tried to do abv oil but the final product smell too much bad, the taste is awfull, it's like reclaim but worst! (effect are here but not the good ones=headache).

I prefer to cook with it, but I prefer to make butter first cause I don't like the abv taste at all!

I tried abv butane extraction, final product is a little bit better but yield is really small (20g in=0.2g out) and it taste like a fuckin petroleum product!

Herbalizer ABV Goo... Edible
My last bag of Herbie ABV was consumed as follows:
I shook 3/4 oz of ABV in 1/3 cup of everclear... shaken well for a few minutes.
I poured it through a coffee filter.
I poured the fluid onto a smooth corelle dinner plate, and left it in an undisturbed area overnight.
In morning I blotted up the one spot of water that remained. (this always occurs with everclear.. one leftover drop of clean water)
I scraped up the dish and put the pile of goo into a small glass lip balm type jar.
I instruct patients to:
use a toothpick, and gather a pea sized wad of the black goo.
surround it(grab it) with any paper... this is no time to be squeamish!
I use: a rolling paper, small tiny 1/4 inch piece of toilet paper, napkin, tissue...
and then I wad it up and swallow it like a pill.
Bam!
done.
nice.
sleepy.
