Which SCS did you get? I love both of mine.

i havent ordered it yet, but usually a medium size is fine for my use. so im thinking the medium 4pc. i have store credit at the retailers site and need to recoup some of the cash. i will likely be getting extras and posting them up in the classifieds.

whats the most popular size? med or large?

i only use 3 of the 4 pieces tho. i dont want to remove any goodies from my flowers when grinding so i simply remove the screen layer of the grinder. that way the grind just falls into the kief chamber waiting to be used. no kief removed.

How much are you grinding at once? I feel my large is overkill for most of my needs because I always grind on demand and its always for 1 person. If I needed to grind a gram or two all at once tho, it will do that with no issues! I guess if I had to buy that one again, id opt for a medium.

i grind maybe a half gram at a time. i usually vape .1-.25g at a time so this gives me a few fresh loads.

medium works for myself and my wife. if you session a lot with more people then the large may be a better bet.

so what size grinders does everyone else like and why?

My grinder preference:
I like small.
Mini is terrible...
Medium works OK, but is more grinder than I need.
Large never gets used.
The medium gets used if I want to grind enough for an afternoon/day, of the same strain.
small feels good in the hand to me, and grinds enough for a couple of sessions.
When I prepare for the day, I do not use the same strains all day, so generally small is perfect.. as I grind different strains to have ready.
Medium gives more torque if you are working with a bud that fills the small all the way, but I like the way that a grinder mulches the meds, when the meds in the grinder must "fight for space' as they get further chopped
The chopped meds by their volume, push more meds constantly in the path of the grinder teeth.
This has been an opinion and does not necessarily apply to general consensus

Small SCS, 4 piece used as a 3, though most of my usage is personal I tend to grind about .5g at a time. Its just too nice to turn.
I don't find mediums to be better for my hands but the bigger size make me want to load more than .5g.

I have always leaned towards grinders about 2.5 inches.
That size is big enough to take care of a couple grams at once,
it is large enough that it is easy to grip,
small enough to fit in my pocket or a small bag,
and easily carries enough for a full day if needed.

So I went with the Large SCS- I am more than satisfied.

For those with the SCS~

I notice a lot of my herb builds up on the outside rim of the lid (top piece) when grinding, what tools do you all use to free your herb?

I typically use a wooden golf tee, as I can get in there and the wood will not cause any damage. Does this happen to others?

I typically dont get that issue. Do you clean yours regularly and/or do you use something like Grinder Grease?

Also I usually just use my dab tool or whatevers handy. Shouldn't damage anything unless you're trying to gouge shit out by brute force. If all else fails I just fold up some paper into a little pick and use that.

@2clicker I bet you keep the medium.

I will be honest, lwien.
I did not think I was going to ever give preference to any other grinder than my small 2 piece space case.
I was not looking for a grinder, but was given a gift of the SCS
I loved it, and still use it.. but my Space case is here, and I would not have even ventured curiosity otherwise.
Even though I am sold on the SCS, I can't bring myself to give up the Space case.

Been using a small 2pc ti Space Case for years. Between that for my LSV and the Finishing Grinder for the MFLB, I'm pretty well set.

how does the 2 piece handle with kief loss vs keeping it in your fine mixture

That's interesting. I have heard the SCS grinds well but there is much debate among SC vs SCS fans. Does the SCS really eliminate the BB pellets from the center of flowers? With my SC I would still get small BB sized lumps in my grind that I would shake out with a quarter and cut up to get a finder grind.

I would argue there is still pollen loss with a two piece grinder.

For most of us, using a 2-piece requires a tray or plate. From my experience, the pollen on the tray can be easily collected with a credit card for the first few days. Then pollen eventually starts building up on the tray as residue and is much more difficult to collect.

I would think the ideal grinder for someone who does not want to separate pollen would still be to buy a 4-piece grinder, and remove the middle piece that is the pollen screen- converting it to a 3-piece grinder. This way, you can grind your herb and you can pack it right out of the grinder without transferring it to another surface.

The reason why I like to separate is I get to top off my bowls with keif, i feel like my log vape can make use of the kief better when its on top and in the direct heat path

This... actually makes sense.

this is exactly what i do. then just use a solo stem and suck it right outta the bottom of the grinder. i hate the sifter part of grinders. they dont even leave the package. i wish grinder co.s would offer a 3pc option.

I like this idea, I mostly want a 4 price for the herb storage space

Some companies work better than others as a 3-piece. For example, my Aerospaced will not close flush as a 3-piece but the SCS closes tight as if it was meant for it.

If you are a non-sifter, then I think it just makes sense to eliminate the tray all together. One less step to loose precious fine material. Right now, I particularly like using the Lotus scoop with my SCS for loading vapes. The scoop fits right inside the grinder too:cool:

yeah i leave ground flowers in mine all the time. i have heard that keeping it stored in an aluminum grinder is not that healthy for you. im not sure though.

i can see that. ive heard that mix'n'ball grinders are like this. my space case feels like it was meant to be.
