Muad-Dib Concentrate Box

Whelp. Screen broke off from one of the rods. Now I get to deal with the warranty. Yay. 2 weeks without it will suck. Thermovape has had my Cera since Friday and still no word from them either. I swear I have the worst luck with this stuff.

I don't understand? You broke the screen cleaning it? How and why? Curious as to what happened?

The MD seems very tough to me and I had to clean the hell out of mine from a drop of the evil kava.
Not using the most premium concentrate I guess. Got quite a bit of carbon build up. Can't torch it, can't iso soak it, takes forever to even get red. Had to scrape it and it can only take so much pressure apparently.

Hate to say it but not a great design. When it works it works great but am I going to go 2 to 2 1/2 weeks without my main vape every 3 months waiting on a replacement?

Seemed to me as a great way of recycling their old or returned boxes, though. Lol

Hate to say it but your problem is not the Maud-dib design. Especially when you own the fact of sub-par goods being used.

Definately NOT the design.
I beg to differ. There is absolutely no way to clean it. Bad design. Should not fall apart that easily.

Just received my Maud Dib today in EU. Wow this thing rips..! Loving it so far!!

Do agree with tony that it is difficult to clean. For example, my first load was a little bit ambitious and some spilled underneath the mesh. The mesh itself isn't as firm as I thought it would be and as such am scared to clean underneath in case it breaks. It doesn't seem to be held on that tightly and a firm touch would likely rip it from the pole imo. Would be great if screen was an easy DIY fix and came with a spare! Specially for those living across the pond like me. Would be without for 4-6 weeks which currently am with my Persei - sucks big time...!

Apart from that - it's a real beauty, taste is amazing, awesome vapor, no residue at all (just amazed by that one lol as even on other coils some remains). Very very happy with my purchase!!!

Agreed :) Good to give feedback for next gen models though imo and mine would only be to perhaps strengthen the mesh to pole a little or make it easily repairable. Otherwise 9/10 and one very happy customer! Look forward to letting friends try it out.

Got my replacement. Now what to do with it? I love it but with my Cera back I could sell this one since it's brand new and clean. Hmmmm

Sorry about back to back post but had to say this.

Maud-Dib has given me tweezers burnout — seriously tired of tweezers. They are such a bitch and every time is just shit. Maybe this design isn't so good unless you're studying to be a surgeon. I have boxed my Maud-Dib up due to tweezer work burnout. See if I feel like selling in a couple of weeks.

I always use tweezers with my MF concentrate trays, but never had to with the Maud Dib box. Why are you using tweezers? I'm just curious.

One thing I don't like is how small the loads have to be for the MD.. Not a big deal, but it gets tedious loading up a bunch of little hits to get where I want to be.. I like to get baked, so I usually just dab worms off of a paper clip, w/ the lid open.. My MD is modded though, and the air flow goes from top to bottom the way I use it, so I don't get a mess at the bottom of my box from the air flow blowing across the screen IMO... I feel like MF should consider making it w/ a hole in the bottom to attach a 14mm male/male adapter, for use w/ glass.. and a silicone cap for that hole in case you want to use it normally.. and also that cap can catch some of the spillage and possibly be more easily dealt w/.. I am usually creative and determined enough to solve most of my own problems.. so I don't really have issues w/ my MD at all.. I have even torched my screen before, because I ran a batch of some average concentrate through it, and the shelves on my screen don't burn off very well, but the main part does.. I can't recommend it but I made it happen safely, by carefully lining the MD w/ foil.. Similar to the way I lined it w/ foil at one point, to deal w/ spillage.

What is your method? A concentrate rope? I am curious. Maybe it is just to small for my fingers to like because that is how I feel about the MD? PIA imo. I think I'm done with it. Ti Nails were never this difficult.

I use either a wood toothpick or a straightened out small paper clip.

You mean a dabber? Yeah, I am done with this toy. Been fun playin' though.

No, I mean a wooden toothpick or a partially straightened paperclip. I use either, depending on the consistency of my concentrate, to apply it to the Maud Dib box. Or any other device I happen to be using at the time.

I can see how using shatter in the MD could be more of a PITA to hassle w/.. I have not had good shatter in over a year, so I have never used that in my MD yet.. But w/ wax I find I can get pretty big hits if I want to worm it up... it saves me on reloads..

I've actually got some good shatter right now and it works quite well in my MD.

I wish I could say the same. The target area is so very small it is a PITA to use at all. It is in the USING that the MD sucks not the vapor it may produce.

I haven't had that experience. My only complaint is that the hits are extremely harsh for me using a long wooden stem. I haven't tried water filtration but that's not really possible when on the go.

Just out of curiosity have you ever used a vape pen @steama? I had one for awhile and thought that while the target area was very small, it was great to load and hit on the go, obviously it wasnt the best method for at home.

My impression having never seen/used one in person is that the target area is larger than a vape pen coil. I believe you also raised issues about the durability of the screen?

not trying to offend. Just trying to get opinions as I have been considering a MD once I come off my t-break

LOL, Shit or get off the pot! :p ;) I totally get it though.. It is very tedious to use if you feel the need to keep reloading to get to where you want.. I also would like a bigger dabbing area, but I figure they made it that size so it would also work well for the batteries, and also to promote conservation.

@Vicki, It's not that I think shatter wouldn't work fine.. It's just that it's easier to take fatter dabs out of the MD when I can roll it into a worm.. and shatter I would have to deal w/ fussing w/ tiny pieces, and be forced to reload a lot, which I hate.. When I dab a worm I don't need to mess around w/ getting the concentrate off the dabber or anything I just dab it and that's it.. I actually prefer shatter over other forms, but I would probably just use shatter w/ the nail if I picked any up.. Just seems easier for me.

No soliciting in the threads outside of the Classifieds section.
Can't you lightly brush it with iso or burn it with a torch? The box is black already, but I suppose it could catch on fire. Is residue really a problem?

I'd buy it from you.

The central problem with the Maud-Dib, and a very serious problem, is the ultra small target area. I think it makes the tool very tedious to use to the point of getting ridiculous to the point I give-up.

I have it in my vape storage now and trying to decide to sell it or not. I am leaning to selling it.
LOL, weren't YOU the one trying to convince ME on how great it was? lmao

Very funny ;) Agree with both of you having now used it a couple weeks a fair bit. I really love it but it could definitely be improved. It's still in beta on their website so would be great if when they make the final refinements, if they upgraded all us testers for free! Worth a shot at asking anyways lol.

My main issue is the delicateness of the heating area. They should just make it so it clips on somehow or is interchangeable!! This is vital to keep it clean and not panic when dealing with putting in the concentrates as if you're gonna break it imo...Would also like to see a slightly larger heating area.

Other than that will keep usingit as I love its look and feel and it really does give a great hit when using the whip imo...

After approx. 3 weeks of ownership I missed the target area with the kava and it seemed to melt under the rail. That combined with a couple that boiled over out of the micro pan really made the unit unusable.

No amount of cleaning was able to return the box to its former glory, ultimately resulting in a successful warranty experience and a ceiling on the amount of use/misuse the MD is willing to tolerate.

I think having the screen mount above the rails and perhaps even a larger design might make the unit more forgiving and maintainable. User replaceable screens would be ideal as well.

Overall, the MD is fun but doesn't seem finished/has room for improvement.

The MD is a winner. I purchased it about 3 months ago through the Connoisseur's Club and it's still going strong w/ daily use. The vapor is a little harsh compared to some of the pen vapes I have used, but this is largely affected by the purity of the concentrate. You're also getting the whole dab at once as opposed to over the course of multiple button presses. Cleanliness has not been an issue for me whatsoever. It would be nice to be able to get the tray looking good as new, but I'm happy as long as it works and tastes good as new. For day-to-day operation, I tend to stick w/ my O-phos because it produces less discomfort and coughing overall. However, the MD is perfect for sharing. As long as you're loading the dabs yourself, the MD is basically idiot-proof to hit and you can pass it around w/o having to worry about your more accident-prone friends breaking anything. If they find a way, there's always the lifetime warranty.
